Scout Notes

Scout Notes – Gameweek 10 – Sunday

Sergio Aguero grabs the match-winner against United as City win a fourth straight Manchester derby. United’s worries at the back continue as injury and suspension hit Louis van Gaal’s side. Nacer Chadli grabs his fifth of the campaign and Harry Kane stakes a claim for a starting role as Spurs come from behind to get the better of Villa.

Aguero Wraps Up Win Against Rivals

Sergio Aguero took his tally to ten for the season with the winner against Man United in the Manchester derby. The Argentinian now has seven goals and eight bonus points from his last six appearances in a run of form that has seen him emerge as an ‘essential’ pick right now. Notably, the City striker’s goal yesterday came in a week that saw the likes of Diego Costa, Graziano Pelle and Saido Berahino all blank, allowing him to open up a five-point lead at the top of the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) forward standings. Aguero still has ownership under 25%, though with City set to roll up to Loftus Road next weekend, that level of interest is surely set to increase over the coming week.

Derby Day Blues for United

The 1-0 loss to their local rivals was the first time in seven outings that United have failed to score, as Louis van Gaal’s start to life at Old Trafford continues to stutter. Angel Di Maria now has just one assist to show for his last three and has lost ownership in each of the last two Gameweeks, with the current of form of Arsenal’s Alexis Sanchez proving too tempting for many. However, United have three excellent home fixtures in their next four (CPL, HUL, STO) and Di Maria will have the chance to rediscover the form that saw him collect three double-figure hauls between Gameweeks 4 and 7.

Defensive Concerns Build for Red Devils

Attack is certainly likely to be the best form of defence for Van Gaal’s outfit, with their problems at the back showing no sign of abating. Rafael was injured in training prior to yesterday’s encounter, whilst Marcus Rojo dislocated his shoulder during the derby and is looks certain to miss the Crystal Palace clash this coming weekend, according to his manager. With Chris Smalling also suspended for that match after a catastrophic red card at the Etihad, and the likes of Jonny Evans and Phil Jones struggling with injury, Van Gaal is likely to have to stick with the partnership of Michael Carrick and Patrick McNair at centre back next weekend – it’s now no clean sheets in the last six for United, and a makeshift backline are sure to have their work cut out in turning that defensive form around.

Chadli and Kane Stun Villa

An inspiring comeback in the last ten minutes from Mauricio Pochettino’s side saw them clinch a 2-1 victory over Aston Villa, with Nacer Chadli netting his fifth goal of the season and substitute Harry Kane scoring his seventh in his last seven appearances late on. With Erik Lamela sacrificed to the bench as Pochettino opted for a front two of Emmanuel Adebayor and Roberto Soldado, and Cristian Eriksen hooked off at the break, Chadli looks the one regular Spurs player worth owning right now, as his eight-point haul at Villa Park took him up to fourth in the FPL midfield rankings. Kane, meanwhile, is yet to start a league match, though his manager has hinted post-match that he deserves more minutes. Spurs have decent fixtures ahead (STO, hul, EVE, che, CPL) and the 4.8-priced Kane may well be afforded further opportunities to show his capabilities across that schedule.

Villa Losing Streak Continues

Problems are mounting for Villa right now, who are without a win since Gameweek 4 and will now have to cope with star striker Cristian Benteke, who is suspended for the next three after being dismissed for violent conduct. Andreas Weimann scored his third of the season against Spurs – and his side’s first goal in 547 minutes of football. The schedule ahead is decent enough for the Austrian (whm, SOU, bur, cpl, LEI), but with morale so low amongst the Villa ranks, he is still unlikely to rival Diafra Sakho or Berahino for our affections in the budget forwards bracket.

The question of the week seems to revolve around ditching Sterling for Sanchez...

So is a move to worth it:

    A) Di Maria + Sterling > Sanchez + Downing (No hits)
    B) Sterling + Welbeck > Sanchez + Berahino (No hits)

      Sorry gents it would be:

      A) Di Maria + Sterling > Sanchez + Downing (No hits)
      B) Sterling + Welbeck + Siggy > Sanchez + Sakho + Downing (-4)

Which would mean doubling up on Westham...

Feel like am ready to go for the weekend, did Begovic to Krul for my FT just to get rid of Bego before the price fall and anything is better than his 2,8pts average.

Want to change from 3-5-2 to 3-4-3 in a couple of weeks, Can't rely on 2 strikers for too long or can I?

    Krul
    Baines, Bertrand, Chambers
Sanchez, Fabregas, Tadic, Sigurdsson, ADM (c)
    Aguero, Berahino

    Hamer, Taylor, Zamora, Hutton

    0FT 1,2m ITB

Any suggestions to strengthen this side?

This. Try and save 2ft's. There is too much value in fwds to not go 3-4-3.

Thanks, that's my plan. This team can play for two weeks without injuries. Considering going Sakho in two weeks, or find a way to get Costa in if he gets back to business.

    Hi everyone, need some help..
    Heaton (Mannone)
    Baines, Clyne, Wisdom (N.Taylor, Moore)
    ADM, Sterling, Hazard, Tadic (Boyd)
    Pelle, Aguero, Sakho

1 FT 0.2 in Bank. What would you do? I ve lost already 0.3 by keeping Sterling. I have also GK problems although Heaton's next fixtures seem ok, so i can use him for now. Sakho's injury is also a concern. I ve decided to wait so far, but maybe Sterling should be dropped even for a hit. I am thinking of doing one of those:

    A) Save FT for now and keep 2 FTs for int break
    B) Sterling -> Nasri, Eriksen or Lamela
    C) Sterling + Tadic -> Downing + Sanchez (-4) (Although this seems like chasing lost points)
    D) Sterling + Pelle -> Barkley + Rooney or Downing + Costa
    E) Sterling + Aguero -> Sanchez + Rooney
    F) Sterling + N.Taylor -> Walcott + Naughton

C seems ok for a hit.

I'm personally gonna wait til next week as hoping he'll struggle at Swansea but he's in great form so I'm probably wrong!

Could just swap Sterling for a lower mid eg Downing, chadli, diame and then keep the money to bring in Sanchez next week

was going to do Welbeck for Rooney this week. But really I need to bring Kun in. But have resisted because I'd have to take out Ivan...

No way Berahino last especially when he's on pens. I'd say Sakho is first and then not much between Kane, Berahino, Austin but I think I'd have them in that order, maybe Bera second.

Austin is on pens as well, and I think I prefer him over Berahino for form and fixtures. Berahino's output has dropped slightly over the last couple.

Kane is a punt, that I back. Berahino's probably ahead of him.

Yeap. Austin's pens help, Sakho's form, fixtures and team's attacking form put him on top easily I think. Then it's Austin's form + fixtures + pens then Kane as a punt ina solid side keen to impress, then Berahino with meh fixtures and a slwoly dropping output + pens.

Terrible news. I lost my father to cancer only a few months ago, this place was like my escape from reality, truly helps being part of a community.

    Sorry chaps repost:

    Ok some advice please chaps

    Krul
    Chambers, Terry, Clyne
    ADM, Sterling, Siggy, Fab
    Aguero, Sahko, Costa

    Hutton, Wisdom, Marney

Which would you go for as i have 2FT so will mean -4 hit

    A) Terry + Sterling + Siggy > Jags + Sanchez + 6.1m MID (Downing?)
    B) Terry + Sterling + Siggy > Baines + Sanchez + 4.5m MID
    C) Sterling + Siggy > Sanchez + Milner/5.3m MID (For Free)

I like B, with maybe Boyd as the cheapie. It's not too late to jump on Baines. I don't own him and it's torture.

Also lost faith in Sterling and missed transferring in Sanchez.
How do i get him in this team for GW11 without losing my best assets?

    Forster ( Gilks )
    Ivanovic / Wisdom / Chambers ( Moore Hutton )
    Chadli - Tadic - Sterling - Fabregas (Barry )
    Costa - Pelle - Kun

1 FT, £0.2 in the bank.
I Come up 1.9 mil short to get in Sanchez for the lad Sterling. - appreciate your help.

    Foster
    Duff-Chambers-Clyne(Wisdorm-Moore)
    Di Maria-Hazard-Siggy-Sanchez(Boyd)
    Costa-Aguero-Sakho

2ft used already, Sterling and Welbeck>Di Maria and Sakho

Now Sterling has gone back to his original price that it will take more NTOs for him to drop again. (not sure how many he needs for another drop though).
