Scout Notes

Scout Notes – Gameweek 17 – Monday

Cesc Fabregas grabs a goal and assist as Chelsea ease past Stoke 2-0. John Terry also finds the net as the Blues earn a fifth clean sheet in six, though Eden Hazard gives Fantasy managers cause for concern after limping off in the dying minutes at the Britannia.

Consistent Cesc Delivers Again

Sold by over 356,000 FPL managers due to his one-match suspension against Hull the previous weekend, the Blues playmaker returned to form with a vengeance last night. Handed the role in “the hole” as Oscar dropped to the Blues’ bench, Fabregas bagged a goal and assist to steer Chelsea three points clear of City at the summit and take his personal tally to two goals and 12 assists in the first 17 Gameweeks. Now up to third in the FPL midfield standings, the Spaniard has earned his owners points in 11 of his 16 appearances for the Blues – Eden Hazard has managed a goal or assist in nine of his 17 league outings by comparison.

Hazard Concern for Blues

Forced off with an ankle problem towards the end of last night’s encounter, the Belgian had been the victim of numerous clumsy challenges by the home side throughout. Hazard’s assist in last night’s win – just his third away from home all season – ensured he remains ahead of Fabregas in the FPL standings and kept his form ticking over ahead of Friday’s home clash with West Ham. Bearing in mind he has scored in each of his last five at the Bridge, any update on the Belgian’s fitness will be eagerly awaited by Fantasy managers. Encouragingly, Mourinho failed to mention any problem during his post-match briefing, whilst Hazard is reported to have replied “don’t worry” when quizzed by reporters on his weekend availability.

Blues Backline in the Points

Last night’s victory means Mourinho’s side have now served up five clean sheets in the last six Gameweeks. The Blues boss reverted to his first-choice back-four as Filipe Luis dropped to the bench but despite his tinkering, Chelsea head into the upcoming trio of quick-fire Gameweeks in their most resilient form of the season – they’re up to eight shut-outs for the campaign now, joint-top with Southampton.

John Terry grabbed his first goal of the season to send his side three points clear of City. The Chelsea skipper headed into last night’s match as the only member of Jose Mourinho’s regular back-four without a goal or assist to his name but needed just two minutes to rectify that record after nodding home the winner. Priced at just 6.3 to Branislav Ivanovic’s 7.2, Terry now sits just five points behind the Serbian – an ownership of just 7% in the FPL game highlights his differential potential.

Costa’s Toils Continue

It’s a single goal in four appearances for the Blues popular striker, whose two-point return proved a bitter disappointment for his 59% of FPL owners. From Gameweek 8 onwards, Costa has managed just 24 points – granted, he missed three of those matches through injury and suspension but his inability to produce the goods is having a significant effect across the Fantasy games, with many managers captaining him on a regular basis. Costa was drafted in by over 360,000 in the previous three Gameweeks as a result of Sergio Aguero’s injury but many may be thinking twice after a weekend that saw a number of budget and mid-price forwards continue their fine form.

Its madness to go with Lallana instead of Sterling? I think Lallana is more fresh and also big threat for goal. What do you think?

Nah go for Sterling. Sterling is a differential enough and playing as striker, no point trying to be clever.

    B) Baines, Moore -> Zabaleta, Virgini

Just think Wenger is too stubborn (as he has shown in years past) and doesn't have an ideal replacement right now with Wilshere/Ramsey out. Walcott is the only one that may replace him. Noone knows really.

    Hi guys,

    Any advice on the below?

    Fabi / Krul

    Azpili / Baines / Wisdom / Yun / Alcaraz

    Haz / Sanchez / Silva / Siggy / Aissaidi

    Costa / Austin / Bony

    1FT 0.0ITB

Concerned about rottion with Haz / Costa / Sanchez all seemingly possible rotation victims. But don't really want to take any of them out unless Haz is worse then feared.

    Should i:
    A) Swap Alcaarz for a cheap playing defender
    B) Swap Aissaidi for a consistenly playing midfielder
    c) take out siggy & Baines for Mirallas & Zaba
    d) save?

So I have a community question. Mourn oh says he'll give hiss players all a game off over Christmas. Hazard has started every league game this season. He took that knock at Stoke but is probably ok to play West Ham I think. However, is this the game he'll get rested? 4 days after playing away at Stoke and while the Hammers are in for, you expect Chelsea to win easily enough. I ask as I have Fab, was going to swap for Hazard but not sure now. Plus after West Ham, Chelsea have the next 2 away and Haz doesn't do so well on the road...

    1. Heydudes13
      • 12 Years

      Just keep him

    2. Dr Dream
      • 11 Years
      9 years, 5 months ago

Surely Hazard will rest out the next one with his knock...If he's resting them all as he said then it would only be common sense.

      1. Pasqualinho
        • 15 Years

        Dr Hazard says he's ok.

        http://www.ibtimes.co.uk/chelsea-star-eden-hazard-calms-injury-fears-after-stoke-win-promises-play-boxing-day-match-versus-1480730

Still think he may get a rest though - but as he seems to play well at home and not so well away, if I was Jose resting him for the away game seems the best move, doesn't it?

        1. Willis.
          • 12 Years
          9 years, 5 months ago

Lol. Just because he doesn't get a lot of FPL returns away doesn't mean he plays poorly away. Chelsea can win at home without him. They can't win away without him. He will be rested in the home game.

        2. Dr Dream
          • 11 Years
          9 years, 5 months ago

I'm quite sure he would have chosen the away game for him but no reason why he wouldn't take the opportunity to change it around...If I was gonna rest him for one of the next two I'd certainly play safe at the same time.

I can't understand people not fancying Fabregas. He will be one of the top 3 midfielders for the entire season. Sooo consistent.

Silva has purple patches and a great run of games with a lot of license..

    Hi guys
Ive just learned that one of my rivals is lurking here and wont reveal himself to me.
I dont suppose there's any way I can discover his identity here and whether he posts, armed with only his FFL team and user name?

Davide Santon also looking at mid-jan return

Feck it I'm getting Silva. When I make these 'feck it' decisions, I like to just make the transfer. I should wait though really... Silva isn't rising any time soon is he?

At the very least wait for the City press conference today, never know when a a random training injury pops up.

Im so close to doing Yaya -> Silva and Siggy -> Fab when I should just save my FT.
I probably would have done it already had Hazard not gone off with a knock.

Im thinking of dropping haz regardless of injury news:
Two away games in next 3 and west ham wont be pushovers
Got him late so value hardly an issue
Think Sterling will go well over Chrimbo
Winter wildcard soon so if turns out to be wrong move can get him back pretty quickly
    Mad?

      not at all
Hazard is certainly the man who is most targetted by defences also

however, i personally think that having Hazard and Faregas is the way to go, i'm gonna cut costa out and upgrade boyd to sterling for a 3-5-2 starting from Jan 1st

    Defence in hand

Green (ars) + McCarthy back up
    Baines (STO)
    Chambers (QPR)
Dummett (mun) or Saylor (mun) Yun (ars)

    1.6ITB, 2FT

Would Green + Saylor > Hamer + Demichelis be a good move?
I know im stuck with Hamer in goal for up to 5 GW, but thanks to the Jan WC it can't be more than that (or could be only 3x GW) and I get my city coverage

    Is it a good move?

Hoping Roonster has another quiet gameweek faffing around in the middle of the park to justify my 4 point hit. Need to keep telling myself that I havent lost an England striker playing at home & 4 points, more that I've gained Fab & rid myself of the 2 point wonder that is Jedinak. Queue a Palace set piece & Rooney hat trick
