Would you double up on Southampton defence and have a Chelsea defender as well or just Bertrand/Clyne + 3 cheapies?
I'm going with Clyne, Bertrand and Terry. This is the advantage of having that extra Costa money floating about.
Who are you getting in for Costa?
I'm going with Austin, Kane and Aguero for now but if Pelle or Giroud start firing I might downgrade one of the Southampton defs and get rid of Austin. We'll see.

Yeah I seem to be in the minority where I feel it is not. Keep recommending to lose Chelsea defense in teams I see....planning on losing Terry from my own squad when I WC. I just see so much value elsewhere in defense from other teams.
Which defenders are you looking at?
Soton, WBA, Villa, Sunderland all seem great value and great rotations in general. Won't be straying far off that path. Only exception may be Krul to rotate with Foster instead of Panti.
My biggest issue is not knowing if my bench players are nailed on. If I knew they were I'd be keeping as is without another thought

PVA is a good pick and Baird is too if he nails down a spot.
Otherwise you could always downgrade Terry to Azpi to free up a little bit more....Wish I could keep azpi in my team but he has burnt me too much in recent times
Ha, yeah I got rid of him a while ago and haven't regretted it...
One more point though: a lot of the people who are getting rid of Costa are doubling on Chelsea's mids so they have plenty of coverage anyway. If you're not bringing in Cesc then getting rid is a bit more risky....

Silly use of funds when you can double Soton defense for less.
Chelsea have done it season after season. Southampton never have.
Terry at 6.6 is far better value than Bertrand or Clyne at 5.7 in my opinion. The only Soton defender I'd be interested in at current prices is Alderweireld if he wasn't injured.

I actually prefer your pre wildcard team to the suggestions for changing it.
1) is a no for me. It's close but Costa is the only one of those I'd consider captaining fairly regularly. But it's a close decision as Aguero will have armband most weeks and Hazard others probably. But I think Costa could really do damage soon. Has looked much sharper in recent weeks.
2) Chelsea will likely tighten up for remainder of season but Southampton boys are getting it done. I'd go with them.
3) cheaper. Van Aanholt seems best value in my opinion. I'm gonna try get him for gw23.
4) nothing jumps out.but I've already got Van Aanholt 🙄

In reality, though, if you are content to go with Kane and Austin up top, then you've got to spend your money somewhere. Value may be there with Soton over Chelsea defense but Chelsea is still Chelsea.
Mmm I think Kane and Austin are easily worth more than their price tag suggests. The main problem (which has resulted in my downfall over the last 6 weeks) is my decision to pump those funds into defence, ignoring the value of Hutton and other cheap defenders. It just doesn't feel right to leave so much money in the bank. Maybe I should just keep Costa after all... 🙁

Otherwise, I guess I'd chop down defence to find funds. There's always a way....one of the reasons I like Costa/Kun/Kane.....
