Fantasy Football Scout tasted glory in last weekend’s Mondogoal contests, claiming a signed West Ham signed match-ball on behalf of a community legend, whilst almost nudging our way into the big £30k end of season finale.
All praise Gabby Agbonlahor. His two-goal performance at the Stadium of Light last weekend propelled our Mondogoal squad to victory in the special West Ham matchball contest – helping us to a 123.12 point return. Okay, hands up, we had to enter six teams to win it but, even so – a precious souvenir for £6 is a big win.
For those who caught this week’s ScoutCast, either on YouTube or via yesterday’s post, you’ll know that the prize will be winging its way over to Doosra in a bid to pep him up following illness. Get well soon, fella.
Whilst that selection got the job done, we sadly failed to enter that aforementioned squad into last weekend’s £30k qualifier. Instead, our lineup ranked second, missing out by just eight points as Bigo1 claimed top spot ahead of us. He’s now earned six places in the final day contest in a bid to win the £10,000 top prize.
If you’ve yet to wise up to Mondogoal’s massive end of season contest, here’s the beef:
How Does it Work?
In the final Gameweek of the season, Mondogoal will crown their first World Champion and they will go away with a huge £10,000 top prize.
So far, 62 qualifiers have gone forward to the final Gameweek contest, with 108 places still up for grabs. To qualify, you need to win one of Mondogoal’s £30k qualifying contests – you can enter these for just £2.
How Do I Enter?
Mondogoal are running three more qualifying contests this weekend. You have until 12.35 on Saturday to select you line-up for either the £2, £10 or £50 contests.
The more you lay down with your stake, the more chance you have of making it through, with just 22 teams competing in the £10 contest and only five duking it out in the £50 stake contest.
If you’re consistent with your picks you may even be able to progress with more than one team – you can have up to ten entries in the Championship final come May.
Don’t forget, you can enter multiple contests with the same Mondogoal line-up with the click of a button.
Having multiple teams will obvious increase your outlay but, with the ability to block out defences, you’ll certainly be increasing your chances of hitting a big score.
Once you’ve created your squad for one contest, go to your list of entries, click on a contest and then click “Enter This Line-up in Other Contests”.
Mondogoal are also offering a pair of West Ham tickets for their forthcoming home match with Stoke City.
FF Scout Gameweek 30 Picks
First up, Hugo Lloris looks a steel for this week’s contests – while we don’t expect him to be peppered with shots and return points for saves, a clean sheet looks on the cards at home to Leicester; at just 4.9 million, we can’t look beyond the Frenchman.
Elsewhere, we’ve not managed to squeeze in any of Spurs’ attacking assets, preferring instead to build this XI around the talents of Sadio Mane and Eden Hazard in midfield. Both bristle with goal threat at Hull and at home to Burnley respectively and, like our other midfield selections – Charles N’Zogbia and Yannick Bolasie – will draw foul points aplenty.
At the back, we’ve opted for the twin threat of attacking talent and clean sheet potential, with three full-back raiders covering the Southampton, Chelsea and Arsenal defences: all three look well placed for shutouts. Bellerin, in particular, looks a bargain at just 5.8 million.
Up front, we’re compelled to look the way of Olivier Giroud once again, given his current form – the 11.9 million price tag looks modest and allows us to afford West Ham’s Diafra Sakho, who will surely carry the threat to a beleaguered Sunderland this weekend. The final striker spot goes to Southampton’s Shane Long – a cheap enabler at just 5.7 million – we’re hoping he keeps his start having ousted Graziano Pelle at the Bridge to provide us with some decent value against the Clarets at St Mary’s.
We’ll be entering this lineup in a variety of contests this weekend, including Mondogoal’s £2 qualifier for the £30k World Championship.
As always, we’ll be waiting on the teamsheet for the early kick-off at the Etihad to see if we can eek any advantage via last minute tweaks.
