The Community Round Up

Double Gameweek fever was in full swing this week as the likes of Charlie Austin, Matty Phillips and Christian Benteke racked up huge scores to whet the appetite ahead of double Gameweek 34. Our community writers and hot topics cast our eye over the impending doubles and we also see the launch of a new regular article, which looks back at the community’s best and worst mistakes in the Gameweek gone by. In our members tables we look in-depth at Liverpool’s best attacking assets and catch up on the ups and downs in our mini-leagues in light of Benteke and Austin’s exploits.

The Community Articles

This week we introduced the first in a regular series of articles looking at the community’s tales of woe and joy during the last Gameweek. With QPR and Aston Villa’s assets running riot there were plenty of tears being shed in our inaugural Rough with the Smooth article.

What better way to reward QPR’s two-goal double Gameweek hero Charlie Austin than handing him his P45? With Chelsea and a blank fixture over the next two Gameweeks many of his owners are considering ditching the striker, with JK on hand to look over the potential replacements. Chelsea’s Loic Remy is at the front of the queue of replacements for money, according to this article by PKWrona.

Benteke’s four goals made him the standout hero of Gameweek 31. Given The Puntmaster‘s excellent recent form in unearthing differentials, it was no surprise to see the Aston Villa man in his trio of punts last week. To see his predictions for low ownership success in Gameweek 32, click here.

Don’t forget, if you’ve got some analysis, scout reports or features brewing, be sure to visit our community section to submit your article. Also watch out next week when we will be asking for your vote in our search for the best community article during March.

The Hottest Topics

As well as Charlie Austin, another striker that many are looking to ditch is Sergio Aguero, who has now gone five Premier League appearances without a goal. Despite his poor tallies, Andy85 says the Manchester City man is still worth keeping.

Another striker to come under Andy85’s watchful eye is Chelsea’s Loic Remy, who, in spite of competition for places, looks to be a risk worth taking, particularly with a double Gameweek 34. Diego Costa’s injury has propelled him into many other community members’ thinking, with Ruth NZ pointing out that he could be set to miss more than the next two Premier League matches.

While dumping the hamstrung Costa is a sensible move, RuthNZ went a bit more leftfield with an earlier post during the week in which he revealed plans to ditch this year’s budget striker sensation Harry Kane. Read his justification for this bold move here.

Although, with Liverpool and Hull joining Chelsea and Leicester with a double Gameweek 34 perhaps ditching the Spurs man may not be so hard to do, as competition hots up amongst the forward positions. Daniel Sturridge is among the Liverpool players that many are considering drafting in, according to our hot topic on the best Reds trio for Gameweek 34.

The Members Tables

For those considering Liverpool options, I’ve constructed this handy table looking at their most attacking options. Sorted by shots in the box, this has a global filter.

If you’re a member and are yet to get to grips with the custom statistics tables, you can view this movie for an explanation of how they work. Also, remember to tag them so that people can find the tables with ease.

The Community Leagues

Spectrum won the Long and Winding Road’s prestigious FA Cup of Tea tournament this season, when he beat Mull in the final. Sticking with the Long and Winding Road , Simon Walsh has taken top spot from Greenwindmill in their main league.

Despite this disappointment Greenwindmill continues to lead the FFScout moderators and contributors league, but second placed Mark is edging closer and closed the gap to just 14 in Gameweek 31.

Ross Gillard is another surviving leader, and stays at the summit of the Top 1,000 Any Season league. Meanwhile in the Top 100 Any Season league Rohan Rees has snatched top place.

Choking Hazard hit the top score in Gameweek 31 with 100 in TorresMagic‘s Last Man Standing competition. There are now 84 teams left after 33 were eliminated when the safety score was set at 53.

In RedLightning’s FFS January Wildcard League James 101 has taken the lead, meanwhile in his Top 10,000 Any Season league, Aaron Thorburn continues at the summit.

Meanwhile, in OFCProdigy’s Scout Picks Challenge, the Fantasy Football Scout picks continue in the lead with Mookie and Sticky Mockwell in close pursuit following Gameweek 31.

I'm 24 points behind my money rival and I want to know who you think has the better team for this GW? His team is underneath - he has made no transfers so far.

Not a bad plan you have there. It all depends on the DGW for me. In my opinion there isn't enough information about Costa's return, it could turn sour for Remy owners. Or you might get away with it.

Gomis had an insane record at Lyon, but he's been really underwhelming in the Prem. Anyone backing him ? Feels 'safer' than Remy even though Remy plays for the best and most creative team in the league & is guaranteed at least 1 match.

    Here's my plan for DGW:

    Panti Mannone
    Dawson Fonte Terry Bellerin Naughton*
    Haz Mane Ozil Silva Boyd
    Aguero Giroud Kane

    2FT, 2.5ITB for now.
GW32: Panti -> Davis (To have a playing keeper in GW33)
    GW33: Naughton -> Morgan
GW34: Mannone -> Mignolet, Mane -> Henderson and maybe Bellerin -> Skrtel for a hit.

    How does it look?

I'd definitely prioritize getting more DGW attackers in mate.

            9 years, 2 months ago

I wish I still have my WC 🙁

Maybe I'll transfer Ozil/Aguero for Fab/Sterling/Sturridge, instead of getting Skrtel or Mignolet.

            Cheers mate.

Those are better, would ideally get 3 Chelsea(1 def), 3 Pool(1 def) above anything else James, like you said one of Migs/Skrtel preferably. Would keep Silva for AVL, Mane should go for a Pool mid for sure. Mannone to Davis (gives you a DGW keeper). McNaughton to Skrtel?

hiya folks. I need to pick:

    - 1 defender out of terry (qpr), wollscheid (whu) and dier (AVL)

    - 1 midfielder out of phillips (CHE) and siggy (EVE)

siggy might seem like the obvious midfield choice but chelsea are leakier than everton recently and qpr are much more of a goal threat, plus phillips is one of the most in form midfielders in the league right now and siggy isn't completely convincing yet.

problem is, if i go phillips, i don't really want to be going terry as well - i'm not a fan of hedging my bets especially when i'm playing catch up in my league. if i go with dier that means i'd be doubling up on spurs defence, which is a terrifying notion even if they did just get a CS. not sure i can see stoke getting a cleanie away from home either.

thoughts? i'm leaning toward terry and siggy but i just know phillips is gonna bite me in the arse. 🙁

I have all these defenders and playing Terry only. Playing Wollscheid instead was tempting me because I expect QPR to score. Have to go with probability on this one though. I'd play Siggy too.

Big test for the filoshofee these next 2 weeks. No reason why United can't win both games so long as they stick to the filoshofee. I fear LVG has some tough decisions to make regarding ADM and RVP, ADM in particular likes to dribble the ball a lot sometimes losing possession, that is not filoshofee.

With Debuchy back is it too dangerous to start Bellerin?

He should be played this week had a solid game against Liverpool so no need to rush Debuchy back in.

Used 2 FT to get Remy in seeing as I'm now wildcarding earlier than expected. Remy and some burnley bellend in for austin and Hutton

    Alderweireld (HUL)

Spurs are woeful in the back though Kurt. Tekkers is in form and is so Sherwood's attack IMO.

If I were Rodgers I'd lineup as:

    Sterling Sturridge Coutinho
    Can Lucas Henderson
    Moreno Toure Lovren Johnson
    Mignolet

Balotelli as an impact sub and change to the diamond if needed.

      I'd go to a back 3 again

Effectively prefer having Markovic play over Johnson

        Toure Lovren Can

scares the sh** out of me...

Not to mention Sterling/Markovic and Moreno helping them as wingbacks.

          Mignolet
          Can Toure Lovren
          Markovic Henderson Lucas Moreno
          Sterling Sturridge Coutinho

Swap Toure/Lovren/Moreno for Skrtel/Sakho/Ibe when available

Costa and Remy. Someone please clarify.

Wanting to do Austin to Remy on a free, but how viable is Remy gonna be long term though...

Not sure if he will even have impact come double game week.

Mourinho said he expects Costa to play 4 more games this season.

He gave a rough estimate of 3-5 games but expecting it to be 4. It certainly isn't exact

If Costa looks likely to make the DGW I'm doing Remy>Costa probably.
Giving Remy a shot. If he plays the next 3-4 it may pay off handsomely.

Don't think anybody can truly clarify, but Costa is so fragile he is worth a punt IMO

Looking decent? No hits and WC to use for DGW34.

    Myhill
    Clyne Ivanovic PvA
    Hazard Sanchez Silva Mane
    Kane (c) Aguero Remy

    Foster Ward Boyd Bruce

Looks fine, but swap PvA with Ward? Palace have been scoring regularly, Sunderland have been flat

    Panti

    Aguero, Remy, Kane (C)

    Krul | Boyd, Bellerin, PvA

    0FT, 5.0 ITB
