PlayON Picks – Gameweek 34

We roll out our Friday lunchtime assessment of the PlayON Player Price List once again. As always, we offer a couple of picks per position: one essential weekend target and a left-field alternative for your consideration.

PlayON are now running a number of different deadlines so Fantasy managers can have as much benefit of seeing teamsheets as possible. Tomorrow, for example, managers can pick teams for the weekly game (which includes all ten matches on Saturday and Sunday) and the single match game (for the Southampton versus Tottenham match) up to 12.45.

Managers can pick teams for all the 15.00 & 17.30 kick-offs up to 15.00 tomorrow. Their Daily game on Sunday, which includes two matches, has a deadline of 13.30. There’s free entry tourna-ments and guaranteed pots in all games so plenty for Fantasy managers to take advantage of – you can pick up to three different teams for each game now at www.PlayON.co

Goalkeepers – Asmir Begovic
Available for just 7.1m, the Bosnian is handed a plum home clash with a Sunderland side that have scored only once in their previous three road trips. Although Stoke have failed to keep a clean sheet in five matches, three of their last four shut-outs have arrived at the Britannia, suggesting the 15%-owned Begovic could be in line to pick up the points against Dick Advocaat’s strugglers. Joe Hart (8m, 14% ownership) bagged a fourth straight clean sheet at home and resultantly retains our essential goalkeeper status. Eleven saves over that run shows he is also picking up those valuable extra points and the City keeper will need to deliver once more against Villa’s in-form Christian Benteke at the Etihad.

Defenders – Wes Morgan
The Leicester defender’s threat in the opposition box has served up a goal and an assist in his last four. Over that period, Morgan has six headed attempts on goal and 18 clearances, highlighting his points potential at both ends of the pitch in the event of his side conceding away to Burnley. Bearing in mind the Clarets have scored a single goal in seven matches, Morgan – at 6.3m and owned by only 3% of PlayON managers – looks an ideal budget enabler for our squads. Scott Dann also looks a strong option as Palace attempt to bounce back from the home defeat to West Brom. Coming in at 7.1m and owned by 14%, the centre-half has produced five efforts in the box over his last six and faces a Hull side with a single goal in their last four on the road.

Midfielders – Matty Phillips
With two goals and seven assists in his last nine matches, the winger has produced a consistent source of points under new boss Chris Ramsey. QPR failed to score at home to Chelsea last time out but will be optimistic of getting amongst the goals at Loftus Road this weekend, considering that visitors West Ham have a single clean sheet away from home all season. Available for 7m and picked by 13% of teams, Phillips looks set to prosper once again. Jordan Henderson was our left-field pick a couple of weeks back but is now promoted to essential status ahead of the trip to West Brom The midfielder (16% ownership) offers a budget route into the Liverpool side at 8.8m, has four goals and two assists in six matches and has form against West Brom, scoring one and assisting the other in the 2-1 win at Anfield. Bearing in mind that the Baggies have conceded seven in their last two at the Hawthorns, Brendan Rodgers’ side will be hopeful of returning to winning ways.

Forwards – Glenn Murray
After providing four assists and six goals in six appearances, the Eagles striker unexpectedly blanked against West Brom at Selhurst Park. A home tie against struggling Hull is a different prospect, with the Tigers conceding eight in their last three matches, and, for 7.5m, the 22%-owned Murray offers excellent value as Palace look for a win before the schedule turns against them. Sergio Aguero (15m) delivered a goal on his return to our essential slot last week and we’re sticking with the Argentine ahead of Villa’s visit. The City striker now has three strikes in two matches since Manuel Pellegrini shifted to a 4-4-1-1 formation and, having fired ten attempts over that pair of fixtures, looks back to his predatory best. With David Silva likely to be available, Aguero has already been snapped up by a massive 59% of PlayON managers for this one.

Head over to www.PlayON.co to get your teams in for the free entry and guaranteed pot games.

Agreed, there's a horrible trait, particularly with social media, to condemn people before any evidence whatsoever; it's truly worrying and damaging.

However, it doesn't necessarily make him a good FPL option. These things, true or not, can be very detrimental in a number of ways.

I was on a jury a couple of years ago, on a similar case to this, and there was a guy on the jury who, like you, said "he's going down" before knowing any of the detail or evidence. It terrifies me.

While he is innocent until proven guilty, in order to be charged with grooming this pretty much needs to have happened:

AJ: I want to have sex with you.
            Girl: I am under 16.
AJ: I understand that and am aware of the law. Have sex with me.

Needed just little extra money for my wc team and gw36 was a major issue.
I can save 0.4 doing Vlaar => McShane.

    Is McShane nailed on?
Played last 9 games, but don't know if there is another reason than that he's good enough for that...

And what about this, who to play this week then?

    a) McShane (cpl, LIV)

    b) Janmaat (SWA)

McShane has double, but Janmaat attacking threat + one of the best fixtures atm.

I wouldn't bench Kane this week. He could so easily hinder all grand DGW plans by scoring twice. Saints are solid but this could end up being a very open game.

Currently have a midfield of Hazard Silva Ozil Eriksen Cambiasso

Going to bring in Sterling and Henderson for Eriksen and either Ozil or Silva. Can bench Silva this week for Kane if he doesn't play - however keeping Ozil for the GW37 double does make some sense.... any smart ideas?

Interesting one as I have all four of the players you are transferring out.
I'm ranked 700-odd so don't need such a big risk, but currently bringing in Sterling, Schlupp and Fabregas at the expense of Erik, Clyne and Mane for (-4). Ideally want to avoid a hit but bank money dictates that a hit is necessary for Fabregas

Yes the Big one here is the Kane -> Vardy transfer.

Does anybody think it would be useful if there was a widget at the side that said each team and when there pre match press conference was due with a day/time. Once the press conference had taken place it could have a tick at the side of it which denoted that it had finished and all FFS tweets about it had been sent.

That way you know when all the information we are likely to get has been received. Just a thought.

That would be really useful, get it done! Always thought it a bit ridiculous also that weekend team news article is posted before half the pressers have concluded.

QUICK POLL...Just say Yes or No 🙂

"Will I regret choosing Sterling instead of Hazard for captain ?"

No. I am tempted but can't look past Hazard. It's a coin flip hazard has form and Sterling the fixtures. Could go either way

Does Sterling have the fixtures? Leicester away equals at least two West Broms.

I reckon Leicester will be very hard to break down....and their match v Chelsea has 0-0 written all over it....recall how Chelsea just managed to beat QPR with a late goal....

That is the reason I am dubious on Hazard....Arsenal and Leicster (scrapping for survival) away.....not sure quite why Haz is such a run-away leader in the captain poll, esp as Sterling will be Liverpool's main striker and they are playing one poor team (Hull) and one very average team (West Brom)

By the way....a great tip for a player next season for Spurs is Dele Alli. For his first season, he would be relatively cheap, so a good MID choice to have in your teams. He is an attacking MID, and has been the best player in League One this season.

We sing this to other League One teams....

    Worth more than your club
    Worth more than your club
    Dele Alli
Worth more than your club ! 🙂

Zero chance he will be nailed on though IMO, which is the least you want from a 5th midfielder.

Fair point...we will need to see how it all goes. But if you are after a cheap attacking MID he may just the ticket.

Of course, in reality, I am hoping Spurs will loan him back to us for a season 🙂 🙂

            Wrong !

If it is the play-offs, I am very confident....right now we have the momentum and THE form team in League One...in fact, we would walk all over Bristol City and PNE if we played them tomorrow !

Dele Alli is back from his injury and hitting peak at just the right time.....

So the impression I get is that Dons are solely reliant on Alli, who is leaving them at the end of the season.

No - not solely reliant at all....players like Potter, Bowditch and Grigg (esp him) have been immense.

As for next season, Robbo will have £ 5m to use too for players....

    Chaps,

Silva & Eriksen ---> Sterling & Henderson for free sound ok?

How then does Bertrand ---> Cahill sound for -4 after that?

All would leave me with enough cash for Austin ---> Giroud next week.

    What says ye?

Those on wc, worth getting Kosc, Sanchez, Giroud and just benching...will save 3 transfers in the long run only thing is a lot of value tied up.

    1. Hank Scorpio
      • 12 Years
      9 years, 1 month ago

Maybe 1/2 but not all 3 as the value tied up will affect the 11 you put out this week.

Just have an exit strategy on other players to get loaded up on Arsenal after this week.
