The Community Round Up

Eden Hazard’s holiday snaps and growing confidence in Arsenal’s attacking midfield assets conspired to set the community’s hearts racing as they considered some intriguing transfer moves with the Gunners’ double Gameweek 37  in mind. We also look ahead to the lottery that is Gameweek 38 and further ahead to next season and the key rule changes the community would like to see in the Fantasy Premier League. We also catch up on the latest tables from the statisticians in our Members area and the ups and downs in the community’s leagues.

The Community Articles

Our latest Rough with the Smooth round up of the community’s best and worst transfer decisions last Gameweek showed that West Brom’s defence is not to be underestimated and selecting the correct Arsenal attacker is getting harder each Gameweek.

Another who has found predicting player potential difficult in recent weeks is The Puntmaster. He’ll be hoping for a return to form with this trio of differentials for Gameweek 36.

Don’t forget, if you’ve got some analysis, scout reports or features brewing, be sure to visit our community section to submit your article.

The Hottest Topics

Even before pictures circulated on the internet of Eden Hazard relaxing by the beach this week, SAB was among those wondering whether the Chelsea midfielder could be ditched in favour of one of Arsenal’s Gameweek 37 double Gameweek assets. With rotation looming large for the Premier League champions’ players does he have a point? Hazard was also among those mentioned in our discussion on the run in’s prime rotation candidates.

While confidence in Hazard’s points potential ebbs away, optimism that Arsenal’s Alexis Sanchez is set to do well is growing, particularly after his brace against Hull in Gameweek 35. It was unsurprising to see him mentioned frequently in our hot topic on the best Arsenal trio to have for the Gunners’ double Gameweek.

Arsenal’s evolving midfield also came under RuthNZ’s microscope as he examined how reacting to changes in the form and tactics, such as Ramsey and Sanchez’s growing influence in the Gunners attacking play, is vital to success.

While Arsenal players are gaining plaudits, are we ignoring some of the game’s more unfashionable players who still have the potential to score well? D1sable certainly thinks so as he prepares to welcome Stoke’s barrel chested midfielder Charlie Adam into his FPL side.

Looking beyond double Gameweek 37, we asked for your tips for success in Gameweek 38, which is notoriously the toughest week for Fantasy managers, as fringe players get a chance to play and clean sheets are harder to pick.

Gameweek 38 strategy was also considered by Ruth NZ in his discussion on whether Christain Benteke is worth drafting in as the threat of rotation looms large in the final Gameweek ahead of the FA Cup final,  should Aston Villa have already secured Premier League status.

Looking further ahead, to next season, Dat Guy asked the community for their ideas on a new FPL rule that could be realistically added to the game. His idea was for managers to nominate a team before the season gets underway that they can pick four players from. Allan The Llama, meanwhile, proposed a one off ‘joker’ rule that allows double points for an entire XI.

The Members Tables

To help assess Arsenal’s options ahead of Gameweek 37 Ludo has come up with this handy table comparing the Gunners attacking options.

Goal involvement is among the key factors considered by Spatburgunder in his look at the best forwards for the run in.

If you’re a member and are yet to get to grips with the custom statistics tables, you can view this movie for an explanation of how they work. Also, remember to tag them so that people can find the tables with ease.

The Community Leagues

Greenwindmill’s continues to top the FFScout moderators and contributors league with a 43-point lead over second-placed Mark.

In TorresMagic’s last Man Standing competition, the safety score in Gameweek 35 was 57, leaving just 11 players in with a chance of glory.

Meanwhile in Red Lightning’s FFS January Wildcard League Brian Thomson is the new leader, having scored 1003 points in the last 15 Gameweeks, including three triple digit scores. Red Lightning says: “For comparison, FPL leader Simon March (aka Dufflinks) scored 1002 in the same period with no century game-weeks.” Aaron Thorburn continues to lead the Top 10k Any Season mini-league.

Finally, The FFS UEFA Cricket World Cup competition has reached the quarter final stage. A round up of the previous round’s events, plus a look ahead to the weekend’s games can be found here.

Yes Newcastle are woeful, but I expect a response from them this week.

Yes, Chelsea have won the league but I don't see them taking the foot off the pedal against Liverpool, Mou doesn't do that against the big clubs.

They have been struggling for goals though but I guess there is the risk Chelsea go all out on attack? I just think they won't be that bothered having taken half a week off and essentially getting a taste of holidays.

Chelsea won't go all out attack, they will just play their normal game (what they were playing before they started parking the bus for the title). But yes a lot more attacking than how they have been playing recently imo. Mourinho is way too proud and professional to give Liverpool any chance imo.

I'm swaying like the wind here. I do have a slight inkling that Newcastle could have a renewed resolve but their defence has been decimated by injuries. This has to be a big problem.

Injuries and suspensions.... It is hard to see them turning it around overnight just from motivation. Strange things can happen but I see a small chance for recovery and a big chance for further implosion. And this will now be with players even further down the pecking order.

Hazard will play unless Chelsea want to give Liverpool a CL lifeline to the detriment of United (I wouldn't put it past him)

O'Shea is another who could surprise you this week, And Ramsey could also still play

Hutton and Remy are both very unlikely to play imo

Blimey, you are in a pickle. Might struggle to get 11 out which is why I think a hit could be worthwhile.

Nope. I can only field a forward 7.1 or cheaper. And, I agree Ryan. I've about had it. I can easily see Costa or Drogs getting the nod.

I think a hit could do you good this week btw I wouldn't advise losing Hazard but he might be your way in.

I honestly don't think I would need to take a hit the rest of the season if I just get it out of the way now. But would have to be a Sunderland forward, and I'm a bit nervous about that.

If I want a DGW player, it would have to be Sunderland, I should have said. Guess I could punt on someone from another team.

Not yet maxed out with Arsenal. Currently have Ramsey and Sanchez. I could do Hazard to Ozil or Cazorla (leaning towards Santi). But, I kind of want to hold on Hazard. Remy is my main concern, and I couldn't afford Giroud if I do that straight swap for a -4. Would have to take another hit, which would bring me up to a -12. It's so frustrating, because I've just re-established my ML leads, and it's very close between me and the competition, so any and all hits are extra sensitive.

See I think in your situation Hazard is now a hindrance to progress. He's bound to miss a game before the end of the season.

A DGW defender from Arsenal will mean I'll have to go without Oz (or Ramsey), from Sunderland I already have PvA.

You only need 2 Arsenal attackers imo. Koscielney is a great option in his own right.

            Yea, true that..

That L'Pool DGW was such a pain in itself, and now it's after-effects are even more painful.

Covering yourself by getting an Arsenal defender could prove to be a shrewd tactic. He can always pop up with a goal as well.

Also, Vlaar. I am not sure - you have got yourself in a pickle.

Well, thank you, Ryan. I am having to retrain my bladder, having been on a catheter for 13 weeks, so ... 🙂
