The Community Round Up

Eden Hazard’s holiday snaps and growing confidence in Arsenal’s attacking midfield assets conspired to set the community’s hearts racing as they considered some intriguing transfer moves with the Gunners’ double Gameweek 37  in mind. We also look ahead to the lottery that is Gameweek 38 and further ahead to next season and the key rule changes the community would like to see in the Fantasy Premier League. We also catch up on the latest tables from the statisticians in our Members area and the ups and downs in the community’s leagues.

The Community Articles

Our latest Rough with the Smooth round up of the community’s best and worst transfer decisions last Gameweek showed that West Brom’s defence is not to be underestimated and selecting the correct Arsenal attacker is getting harder each Gameweek.

Another who has found predicting player potential difficult in recent weeks is The Puntmaster. He’ll be hoping for a return to form with this trio of differentials for Gameweek 36.

Don’t forget, if you’ve got some analysis, scout reports or features brewing, be sure to visit our community section to submit your article.

The Hottest Topics

Even before pictures circulated on the internet of Eden Hazard relaxing by the beach this week, SAB was among those wondering whether the Chelsea midfielder could be ditched in favour of one of Arsenal’s Gameweek 37 double Gameweek assets. With rotation looming large for the Premier League champions’ players does he have a point? Hazard was also among those mentioned in our discussion on the run in’s prime rotation candidates.

While confidence in Hazard’s points potential ebbs away, optimism that Arsenal’s Alexis Sanchez is set to do well is growing, particularly after his brace against Hull in Gameweek 35. It was unsurprising to see him mentioned frequently in our hot topic on the best Arsenal trio to have for the Gunners’ double Gameweek.

Arsenal’s evolving midfield also came under RuthNZ’s microscope as he examined how reacting to changes in the form and tactics, such as Ramsey and Sanchez’s growing influence in the Gunners attacking play, is vital to success.

While Arsenal players are gaining plaudits, are we ignoring some of the game’s more unfashionable players who still have the potential to score well? D1sable certainly thinks so as he prepares to welcome Stoke’s barrel chested midfielder Charlie Adam into his FPL side.

Looking beyond double Gameweek 37, we asked for your tips for success in Gameweek 38, which is notoriously the toughest week for Fantasy managers, as fringe players get a chance to play and clean sheets are harder to pick.

Gameweek 38 strategy was also considered by Ruth NZ in his discussion on whether Christain Benteke is worth drafting in as the threat of rotation looms large in the final Gameweek ahead of the FA Cup final,  should Aston Villa have already secured Premier League status.

Looking further ahead, to next season, Dat Guy asked the community for their ideas on a new FPL rule that could be realistically added to the game. His idea was for managers to nominate a team before the season gets underway that they can pick four players from. Allan The Llama, meanwhile, proposed a one off ‘joker’ rule that allows double points for an entire XI.

The Members Tables

To help assess Arsenal’s options ahead of Gameweek 37 Ludo has come up with this handy table comparing the Gunners attacking options.

Goal involvement is among the key factors considered by Spatburgunder in his look at the best forwards for the run in.

If you’re a member and are yet to get to grips with the custom statistics tables, you can view this movie for an explanation of how they work. Also, remember to tag them so that people can find the tables with ease.

The Community Leagues

Greenwindmill’s continues to top the FFScout moderators and contributors league with a 43-point lead over second-placed Mark.

In TorresMagic’s last Man Standing competition, the safety score in Gameweek 35 was 57, leaving just 11 players in with a chance of glory.

Meanwhile in Red Lightning’s FFS January Wildcard League Brian Thomson is the new leader, having scored 1003 points in the last 15 Gameweeks, including three triple digit scores. Red Lightning says: “For comparison, FPL leader Simon March (aka Dufflinks) scored 1002 in the same period with no century game-weeks.” Aaron Thorburn continues to lead the Top 10k Any Season mini-league.

Finally, The FFS UEFA Cricket World Cup competition has reached the quarter final stage. A round up of the previous round’s events, plus a look ahead to the weekend’s games can be found here.

Transfers? You have two transfers? You can't save anymore than two, so it'd be better off using one this week.

Different game. Only so many to use, and once they're gone, they're gone. I expect the team trailing me to use his transfers to try to make a move and I'd rather see what he does before I commit. As well as have 1 or 2 for the last GW if possible.

I've got a similar dilemma. So conflicted in terms of what I want from the games. If I play Henderson, I'll be unhappy if he does well, b/c it will ruin the CS of my (likely) double CHE defence. If I play Cambiasso, and he does well, I'll feel even more frightened for Newcastle!

I want to keep Kane myself but Kane to Benteke is the better move for you, I reckon, if you can afford it.

I think "everyone" might be an exaggeration. Those who can't afford Sanchez any other way, perhaps, but from what I understand, "most" are holding.

you sure??? Sanchez display was really good... Aguero faces QPR though. Any second thoughts?
Tough. Chasing someone that most probably has Sanchez captaining. 60 points more than I. Should I risk it and captain Aguero (he doesn't have him), or play his game?

u see..both aguero and sanchez have similar potential to score a goal. i will be surprised if either of them blanks.

but who will score more than 1 goal is anybody's guess...both are vital to their teams..aguero on penalty though

I don't think captaining Aguero is by any means "risky". He's in very good form, playing an all but relegated team with a terrible defence, at home. Golden boot still in consideration. Prior history of success against QPR (not that that sort of thing really makes much difference to my thinking).

I think you should be happy that your rival isn't captaining Aguero, making him a differential.

Who do you think is most likely to score/assist twice? I'd be edging towards Aguero, mainly because there seem to be fewer guys in the City team who can do that at the mo. Sanchez might, but equally Ozil or Cazorla or Giroud might. Hell, Jack Wilshere might.

aguero..because opponent's defense weakest and aguero in a better team and almost scoring every game. has penalty duty too.

benteke sanchez great options too..would be surprised if both of them blank.

Jose came out this week and said that both Terry and Ivan had asked to play all games for the rest of the season. I think there's your answer on that count. And Hazard is a professional footballer who's in top form. Sure, he's absolutely earned a rest, but he won't get the last 3 weeks off! Plenty of time to holiday after that 😛

In short, I think Ivan will play all 3 games, and Hazard may, if anything, be rested for the WBA game.

      1. MarkyMarkovic

I reckon Ivan will prob be benched for one so he can see luis/azpi
Zouma is due another start too though probably at the expense of Cahill.

I'd imagine he wants to keep the home record, so away game for the changes

In a continuation of a previous question, which do you think scores more:

    A) Ivanovic (LIV, wba), Grealish (WHU)

    B) McShane (BUR), Henderson (che), Skrtel (CPL)

Ignore the oddness in terms of fixtures, I'm asking the question in terms of who, depending on what transfer I make, I am actually likely to play in the next 2 weeks.
