The ScoutCast – Episode 161 – Kahunas

This week’s episode of the ScoutCast certainly doesn’t lack “Kahunas” but it does go without my nasal tones.

Another bout of man-flu got the better of me this week but, rather than can the episode, I allowed the lunatics to take over the asylum and run this nonsense without me. Granville and Jonty rise to the occasion, ably abetted by this week’s star guest, Jack Wain – previously number two in the world and still part of the pack giving chase to former guest, Simon March.

Jack makes his appearance just as his gutsy gamble to ignore the sure-fire Sergio Aguero captaincy backfires. Granville and Jonty analyse his brave fall from grace, while quizzing our FPL luminary on the Gameweek 37 double and the great Eden Hazard dilemma, all courtesy of another round of questions from you, the community.

This week’s episode was beamed live via the magic of Google Hangouts on Tuesday evening. You can view that webcam wonder via the larger player below.

For the polished, directors cut audio version, you’ll be needing this link or the smaller player below.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Quick one: The typical Arsenal question and why?

    Hazard ---> ???

    1) Ramsey (having a knock)
    2) Cazorla (penalty duties?)
    3) Ozil (loads of assist chances)

I have Sanchez and Giroud already.

Is offloading Hazard for either a good call?

    Cheers!

My team differentials: (Before this GW transfers)

    Ospina, (Schmeichel)
    PvA, Skrtel, (McShane)
    Silva, (Grealish)

His team differentials (Before this GW transfers)

    Myhill, Vorm (lol)
    Terry, Cresswell, Janmaat
    Bolasie, Albrighton

He currently has 1 DGW player (Sanchez) and 1 transfer, I plan on having 4 DGW players (Ramsey/Cazorla, Sanchez, Ospina, PvA)

Agreed, but Terry continuously produces good scores, and West Ham have gotten a few CS's in the last few weeks. Janmaat does get his odd assist, sometimes his differentials do work out. Hence, his lead in my ML.

We both have had Terry for most of the season, and I sold him on my WC before the DGW (where he scored), I think its fair to say that he has been lucky with Terry 😛

Yeah? The highest scoring defender in PL history? The best defender at attacking set pieces you are ever likely to see? The nailed-on captain of the best defensive team in the PL?

I guess that anyone owning JT has got really lucky considering all of that. 😕

              • 9 Years
              9 years, 1 month ago

Lets be honest here, If we were to predict who is going to score for Chelsea every week, no one would pick JT. And please don't try getting yourself out of this, anything other then a CS for any defender is a bonus, hence lucky. End of story.

Oops. You caught me out I guess. I guess the fact that this will be the 6th time JT has scored 6 or more goals in a season for Chelsea makes it quite ignorant of me to expect he'll score a few. What a lucky guy I am.

I think your first question kind of summarises it. Ramsey is doubtful even when fully fit, as he always comes off just from a slight knock.

      Why not Ozil?

If you don't have Giroud he's the best way to cover that hole. And Arsenal fans voted him player of the month for April so he's clearly in good form.

I have Ospina-Sanchez-Giroud but if I was in the market for another Arsenal mid, Ozil is the one I'd go for.

Yeah you're probably right. I'm only worried due to Ramsey's high ownership, I won't have Giroud either (another player with high ownership) so I would feel very exposed if they did well. I do think Cazorla is the better option though... Thanks Ruth.

Ramsey's ownership isn't that high where it counts. Top 10k as of GW36:

what a mess. i got Sanchez and Giroud a couple weeks ago but had decided to wait on the third. i had finally convinced myself to go with Ramsey, but now this injury lingers. i'm speculating like everyone else, but I'm having a hard time at the moment believing he's going to start both games. this is two weeks running that he hasn't been able to practice all week. that alone would seem likely to catch up with him eventually in terms of conditioning, but what's he going to do next week when he can't take the week off? ugh. ugh. ugh. based on the numbers, i'm now leaning toward Santi, but Ozil has a good feel to that selection. i'll decide in 24 hours, and no idea what it's going to be.

i can definitely understand everyone wanting Hazard back for gw38. a good matchup, the team looking to end the season with a party, Hazard (potentially) having a week's rest to come out refreshed, and this being an opportunity to put an exclamation mark on the season.

i thought i was doing something more complicated, but i'm looking at a straight swap in gw37 of Hazard for Cazorla/Ramsey/Ozil, and then planning to reverse it for GW38 contingent on any new developments next week.

can you reverse it in gw38? who will play in gw37 if Hazard doesn't? how's the rest of your squad look for gw38 and would you be better served to address something else than do this dance with Hazard?

if other things are set up well for 38, i could easily see this dance with Hazard playing out nicely.

I think a lot of people here are selling Hazard over SIlva. I'm not so sure. Hazard GW38 could be mental, Silva has swa, SOU. His double digit scores have been QPR, wba, WBA, whm, CRY, NEW, LEI.

If Hull lose, and Sunderland get a point then Hull need to beat united at home and Sunderland need to lose at Chelsea. So 1 point should all but seal it.

Chelsea seem to have taken there foot of the peddle a bit. And Sunderland do have something still to play for... They beat Chelsea at the bridge last season, and their is no guarantee that Hazard could start.

      1. Nickofoz

Mourinho has said he'll play his title winning side in GW38 (which obviously includes Hazard). I don't think Sunderland beating Chelsea last season at the bridge has any impact, completely different circumastances really.

My point is, people selling Hazard instead of Silva (just because he got a huge haul last week) might regret it.

I'll admit, I planned to sell Silva if he only picked up 6 points against QPR (which he would have gotten if he didn't score at the end and didn't get the second assist), but mentally it's hard to sell a player after a 16 point haul and that's why I started leaning towards Hazard. I've swayed back now though

What did I say was wrong? All (except the last point) are valid. Sunderland winning last season at the Stamford Bridge is a huge mental boost to them, and they likely will have something to play for.

Like I said, "all (except the last point) are valid". That last point does refer to Hazard. I didn't realise he was "nailed" until Nick nicely pointed out that Jose plans to play his title winning side on the final day, something which I hadn't heard.

Losing Silva is the sensible move if you have decent bench cover for Eden.

Yeah exactly. Can't sell Hazard and get him back because I bought for 9.9 in GW10.

Yeah, that's the point. An extra FT in GW38 is worth having.

I am in a slightly different position because I'll go into GW38 with Larsson and Wickham. I'll have 2 options:

              Larsson to Young or Cleverley, play 3-5-2;
Wickham to Benteke or Rooney (but requires a hit).

I'll probably do the former, I am extremely reluctant to take hits so late in the season.

Played 14 minutes as a sub against United earlier this season and scored. He tends to score his goals in bunches, if he nets against United again I'd back him to score against Sunderland too.

He's a very realistic captain option for me, I'm still torn between Giroud and Sanchez.

Last week I did a Sunderland win, Newcastle draw double. Nice way to earn£50 for a measly stake 🙂

Put your money on Stoke to win instead. Great odds.

      Who is your GK?

Keep Ramsey imo. Not worth taking the hit.

Stevie G points total this week?
    I'll say
2 plus cleanie plus 2/3 bonus as he'll even be taking the goal kicks plus peno and perhaps an assist
    Makes approx 12

    Anyone else

Do you get bonus points for everytime a commentator or journalists licks your hole?

Perhaps it might have an indirect impact!

    Ok, final question, I swear!

    Current Team:

    Panti Heaton
    PvA Yun Skrtel Clyne Morgan
    Walters Cambiasso Hazard Sanchez Silva
    Kane Giroud Aguero

Firstly, FT will be used to bring in 3rd Ars player and taking the hit (-4) to bring in Gomez isn't worth it.

Next, which Ars player and who to drop?

    A) Hazard ---> Caz/Ozil/Ramsey (Ramsey got knocked) - I can get Haz back for GW38
    B) Clyne ---> Kos (Clyne has been lousy last 4 games)

    If A, which Ars midfielder?

    Thanks!!

You cannot play PVA or Clyne in GW 38 so I say B
