Well Lallana was injured a lot and Lambert didn't play much period. The defense was shambolic overall. But I get what you're saying.

Lallana is dross. The defense had the best record in the league when Sakho and Can played.

A healthy 27yo Lallana will give better quality than 35yo Gerrard.

Defense should be the #1 priority with Balo/Sterling cash.

Lallana and Gerrard play in 2 different positions. Gerrard, with his limited game time, playing in a defensive role, has provided more quality and goals than 27 year old 25 million Lallana 😆

Gerrard is a DM now that he legs are old. Lallana can play more attacking as SG once did. If you can't tell, SG hasn't shone in years. He gets sympathy time, and has been a liability for at least this past season, half of last.

Take away pens and what is left? A DM who is decent on corners.

Used to be quick. Used to be accurate from distance and PK's. Sorry to say it, but he should have left 2yrs ago (from a club perspective)

Quite Funny...I remember someone posting about why people were getting Lukaku just because it was Spurs-saying that in that logic we should all be loading up on Stoke given Liverpool's form was similar...

"It's no secret that Louis van Gaal and I have a relationship that goes a little beyond the normal relationship between coaches and players." - Muller

Will the horrendous run of results be put down to the Stevie G emotion factor and the Raheem saga or will the board be deeply concerned by not finishing the season in na encouraging manner.

The owners will have to consider their options after it, there is an independent review taking place taking into account every aspect of the club, not just the mandatory end of season review the owners put in place. This won't happen all that soon IMO.

Not a chance, the Sterling situation and Stevie Gs send off is irrelevant, the fact is Rodgers has been a PR minefield, useless at transfers, and more importantly inept at getting the best out of the squad he has (which should have walked top four this year) all he does is blame others for his own failings, and he's now lost the dressing room as a result. Terrible, terrible manager, regardless of how good a coach he is, tactically can be out thought by a chicken. :/

      1. Licky
        • 11 Years

Not to mention he complains of not having a striker, when he dilly dallied on a deal for Bony (which was all but done until Swansea pulled out because they felt they were getting screwed around by the Brodge) and vetoed the Remy signing (I don't think Remy is a great player and personally wouldn't view him as a good signing but given what has happened would have snapped your hand off for him).

        1. Bartowski
          • 13 Years
          9 years, 12 days ago

To be fair, he didn't veto the Remy signing, he tried to get him and the Liverpool medical team decided against it.

Not the case, the medical was completed, the Brodge vetoed it. Balotelli was then bought as there wan no other available alternative. *sigh*

Liverpool Rumours, type Remy into the search bar. The papers are full of nonsense, Rodgers just didn't want him. I didn't either to be fair, partly because of the injury worry.

                  9 years, 12 days ago

Well these are direct quotes from Remy that state that it was due to his long standing heart problem so I don't know where you're getting your info from.

                  http://www.goal.com/en-gb/news/2896/premier-league/2014/09/27/5137267/remy-reveals-why-liverpool-move-fell-through

And there's no chance that he would make that up as he could effect his whole career.

It may be the case it was pointed out by the medical staff, but it still could have went through (like the Ba transfers to Newcastle and Chelsea respectively) it's just what I've heard.

That's just 6-1 to stoke talking.

You're only thinking of Balotelli when you say that about transfers.

Markovic, Can, Moreno? All of them are terrible? Rodgers brought in Coutinho and Sterling, IIRC.
Lallana and Lovren have class, can come around.

These things take time. The core of LFC is young and talented.

With Balotelli, Borini, Gerrard, Johnson, Sterling gone, they can focus on a truly clean slate.

I'm pretty sure Sterling was already there or the scouting team had already picked him up before Rogers came

Last summers signings were by the transfer committee put in place because of Rodgers failings, my opinions on them are very good actually, hence why I said the squad should have walked top four this year. Also I've been saying this since before Christmas, the 6-1 is just the final nail in the coffin.

if the committee made the transfers, why do you cite BR as useless at transfers?

I'm telling you, the loss stings, 6th place stings, but wipe the muck from your eyes and you'll see that the club has flashes of brilliance.

            BR needs another year. IMO.
Maybe I could support a return of Rafa, but what other managers have any PL experience who are available?

I think you're deluded, another year would be an absolute disaster, the reson I cited transfers was because of Rodgers first and second seasons, he was in charge of transfers then and brought in bar Couts and Sturridge players that have proven useless to the club (harsh yes, but they just weren't used by Rodgers).

Means I can't get Snodgrass in at any point next season.

      Me too

Never liked Giroud as a ff pick...but thought he'd turned it round after his mid season goal run

Turns out he's still a donkey

Ars should try and sign benzema again

Yep. Also means we would have a different third Ars (my pick was Caz) so lost even more points with that knowledge. Feckin' donkey.

that wasn't the debate though was it

          it was merely discussing BAPs

obviously Clyne and Berty were better picks as they got more points. But i said Fonte was the BAPs man, Clyne and Berty needed attacking returns to get BAPs generally.

They dumped 100m odd into the squad because they believed what Rodgers said, the squad should have at least made top four, just look at how much each other rival did to try and throw it away, poor mismanagement is just what it was.
