Sun Dream Team Is Live – FFS League Sign Up

The Sun Dream Team became the latest Fantasy game to throw open it’s doors, having released alongside the Fantasy Premier League on Thursday.

Quite simply, Dream Team is the season-long game to play if you want to win some big money. This term they’ve gone and put up a cool £1 million prize fund, with £200,000 available to the overall winner. Overall, they are promising 100 winners a week, 500 a month and 7,000 across the season. That’s a lot of winners with a lot of cash fluttering about.

This season the game is free to play, although the generous cash prizes are only available to those who later sign up to the Club Dream Team – that will eventually set you back £2.99 a month or £7.99 for three months; both options will be available in October but, initially, you’ll be in the “Club” for free.

There are a whole string of benefits to eventually signing up, including more competitions, advanced statistics and the fact you’ll get to set up six teams, increasing your chances of claiming one of the many prizes.

Aside from the huge cash pot on offer, Dream Team is a very different beast to your average Fantasy offering. It can be a more casual, “hands off” game, with stronger emphasis placed on your initial starting XI – after this, Fantasy managers are pressed into action during four Transfer Windows, although, as you’ll see this has been expanded somewhat with this season’s rule changes.

The other key attraction is that domestic cups and European competitions are included. This can hold your interest when games like the Fantasy Premier League and Sky Sports take a break; suddenly the midweek Europa League and Capital One Cup have some meaning.

On top of this, Dream Team has a weekly game offering and this season introduces more competitions for those who join Club Dream Team – a weekly 32-team knockout cup and a mini-league knockout cup. You won’t be surprised to hear that both offer cash prizes. Dream Team have also brought back the popular Manager of the Month contests, with the top 100 managers all qualifying for prizes.

THE RULESET

Dream Team have been brave enough to implement some key rule changes this season – with assists finally making an appearance in the game.

Two points are awarded for each assist earned, although this is somewhat balanced out for midfielders who have lost the two points previously earned for keeping a clean sheet. For defenders and strikers, however, the assists are now extra points in the bank which is something to consider when selecting your squad.

Elsewhere, while Dream Team has retained the three points earned for a 7+ rating in any given match, they’ve done away with their controversial “reporter in the stands” approach and adopted an Opta driven algorithm solution, much like the FPL’s Bonus System, to award the ratings. This system is also being used to assign the Star Man awards which return five points.

Crucially, this change allows the game to be more dynamic and Club Dream Team members will now get live scores during match days with your full points tallies available on the final whistle. A big win.

The other major change is that we now have five Emergency Transfers at our disposal. Dream Team introduced two of these transfers last season, enabling trades between the Transfer Windows. We now have one Emergency Transfer in every period before each Window. These can be used to repair our lineups after injury or suspension, or used tactically.

The rest is as you were…

Each team must include 11 players with a budget of £50 million to spend. The teams can be laid out in one of two formations – a 4-4-2 or 4-3-3.

Players accumulate points from matches in the Capital One and FA Cups and also in Europe, with Champions League and Europa League matches contributing. Straight away, then, it’s clear that avoiding rotation and finding regular starters is your main consideration.

THE TRANSFER WINDOWS

Managing your team around the four Transfer Windows remains crucial, alongside the use of the Emergency Transfers. You can make up to three transfers per Transfer Window, with an Emergency Transfer between the windows – it’s a “use them or lose them” policy with both.

The first window arrives on September 1, so with only four league matches completed, you can make three changes to your squad. Subsequently, you may look to allow for this in your early strategy, selecting players with a strong opening three fixtures, knowing that you can apply three changes prior to Gameweek 5.

The following window arrives on November 10 – that’s prior to Gameweek 13. The third arrives on January 26, ahead of Gameweek 24, with the final opportunity to make transfers landing on our laps on March 22, just before Gameweek 32.

Planning your team changes, putting our season ticker to use and considering the dates of cup rounds, is therefore an important factor.

JOINING LEAGUES

You can set up mini-leagues when you sign up and, if you have a PIN code, you can join up with established mini-leagues. You can establish up to five mini-leagues and enter individual teams into up to 5 mini-leagues each.

THE FANTASY FOOTBALL SCOUT LEAGUE

With that in mind, we’ve set up an official Fantasy Football Scout League for the Dream Team game, which you can now join with the PIN 8060586.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

      Missed on previous post ....
Keep falling short in the "Works" Sun Dream Team competition
I get off to a flyer then the wheels fall off come November .
This is mainly due to some cruel rule restrictions
NO Transfers & no more than TWO players from any club
I've been tinkering with my XI since its doors have opened at present this is what I've ended up with
Would appreciate some constructive FFS readers comments

      Mert Vert Huth Williams

Rules have changed slightly as you get points for assists now .
Plus ratings based on Opta stats and not reporters decisions .
Fabianski for Swansea is on my radar . Solid at back , high clean sheet potential and highest saves ratio last season I beleive .
Ivanovic or terry are must haves in my view .
Rose for Spurs and maybe Soares for Soithampton worth a punt too .
Hazard a definate , maybe Depay an early shout ?
If they don't sign another striker Rooney could be a good shout . J Rodriguez is cheep , in Europe and before his injury was excellent . Looks to be getting back to good form so worth a shout especially as you have 3 transfers plus 1 emergency transfer after the first 3 or 4 games .
Hope this is of some help 🙂

I also believe Danny Simpson may now be potentially be a 4.0 defensive option. Ranieri likes to play four at the back, and will probably prefer Simpson to De Laet at right back. Thoughts?

I don't think it is as simple as that. Simpson had a fair amount of game time last season and neither of them played once we shifted to 3 at the back. I think it will come down to Ranieri's personal preference, whether he wants an attacking wingback player who isn't as strong defensively (De Laet) or a steady defensive right back (Simpson). He may even look to bring in someone new. Hopefully pre-season games will shed some light.

So with United signing everyone but strikers and selling nobody but their strikers how do folks think they'll look this season, looks to me like it'll be similar to Chelsea's 4-3-3

    DDG / Valdes
    Darmian/Valencia - Jones/Smalling - New Cb - Rojo/Shaw
    Schneiderlin/Herrera - Schweinsteiger/Carrick - Blind/Fellaini
    Depay/Mata - Rooney/Wilson - Di Maria/Young

It will be some version of a 433/4231. The exact shape means relatively little given the midfielders they'll be using in those positions.

Think they'll sign another striker too though. Who they sign will tell us a lot about their midfield too, I think.

      All things being equal, A.

In reality though Hazard is more likely to feature from the start than Sanchez, so B.

I remember in 2012/13 when Ruddy was absolutely on fire before his injury......
    Could he replicate that form?

So Schneiderlin is off to Man U... What are his prospects do you reckon? Only 5.5, could be interesting! United paid 25 million for him which you would assume meant he was a starter... but then again they aren't exactly the mot frugal team in the world in recent years!

Doesn't get huge amounts of goals/assist and is a yc magnet. I'd avoid.

he's 5.5 but he'll be tasked with playing deep and winning the ball back, allowing the attacking quartet to floursh.

he'll be a superb signing but a terrible fpl option imo.

Bit of a Matic type deal then you reckon? Except less of a juggernaut 😀 !

yeah, a bit more classy on the ball than Matic I think actually, but definitely similar FPL wise

Makes their defence a better investment but beyond that he isn't of interest to us, I think.

He loves a booking and won't have the same freedom to get forward. Avoid.

Yeah , but damn, would have loved him at Arsenal , Guess MU offered higher wages . Difficult for Arse to compete if Schneiderlin wanted a salary equal to Sanchez or the like

As far as I'm aware, only Man Utd put in an offer which matched our valuation. His preference was to go to Arsenal but there was never a concrete offer.

I'd imagine them playing Schweinie in the deepest midfield position, where LVG himself established him and where he doesn't have to run so much. This would mean that both Schneidie and Herrera would be expected to make runs forward, supposing that they play 4-3-3.

      I'm really liking this

Ruddy/Mignloet (Norwich cover Liverpool hard fixtures real nice )
Ivan Jenkinson/Francis Williams/Morgan (BOU cover WHU hard games as do LEI with SWA)
      Hazard Silva Henderson Ritchie Wanayama
      Rooney Lukaku Deeney

      Leaves 1.5 itb

Gw2 Lukaku > Sakho ( after using him maybe captain then get Sakho just in time for 2x juicy homes)

Leaves 3.0 itb for (the spare.5 allows for Kun rise)

      Gw4: Rooney > Aguero

Then you've got Kun and Silva for City's golden run plus Hazard and Ivan without wild carding

And the defence is set perfect so no transfers needed at all

Same, nothing like the N64 or the Wii. Stuff of legend.

I wonder what will become of Nintendo now, some humongous shoes to fill, there will be no one like Iwata. Guy was a gamer and ex-programmer at his core, just the epitome of Nintendo., man this sucks.

He has had so many jobs that obviously it can't be success every time, but personally I regret his Juventus times more, as although he made some errors at Chelsea, he also got them to CL at a time when that was far from obvious, and brought in Lampard, Gallas and maybe the most importantly Makelele.

I'm not saying that he's a really top of the world manager, somebody like Ancelotti, but come on, this is Leicester and he's a manager with great experience and reasonable success both in top level and in particular in traditional mid-table clubs. He also has a long history of cultivating formerly little known players too, which should work well for Leicester who might not be buying him a completely new squad (already at Valencia, he did wonderful job with Mendieta who for a while looked like a world beater). Maybe this is good news to Kramaric?

But it's hard to say what he'll do player wise. Probably will give preference to some of his trusted old crew that he finds there, but he - and not Jardim - was the one to bring those youngsters up at Monaco, so wouldn't be surprised if he did the same at Leicester as well. He has got the authority to play whomever he wants, doesn't have to bow anybody, especially at a club like Leicester where, no offence, there certainly are no stars of that calibre anyway. It will also be interesting to see if he can lure there some big name transfers à la Watford and Palace.
