Injuries

The Treatment Table – Gameweek 7

Bournemouth await results of Callum Wilson’s knee scan after their top scorer was forced off early against Stoke on Saturday. The Potters have concerns over Xherdan Shaqiri, whilst Man City have worries over a trio of key men after the weekend loss to Tottenham.

Arsenal
The Gunners worries in central midfield were compounded at the weekend after Mathieu Flamini limped off after 21 minutes of Arsenal’s road tie against Leicester City. With Francis Coquelin sitting out the King Power showdown due to a knee problem, Arsene Wenger confirmed that replacement Flamini was forced off early in the 5-2 win due to a hamstring complaint.

Bournemouth
Callum Wilson was stretchered off at the 17-minute mark of Bournemouth’s trip to Stoke City, following a strong challenge from Philipp Wollscheid. Over 150,000 Fantasy Premier League (FPL) managers have already sold Wilson since the weekend, with Cherries boss Eddie Howe admitting that the initial signs don’t look good for the 5.9-priced striker:

“It doesn’t look good at this moment in time. He’s in a brace and on crutches. He’s in a bit of pain and there’s a bit of swelling there. We won’t know until we get it scanned and properly looked at, but it’s worrying for us. It looks like it could be another serious knee injury. He wanted to carry on and stay on, such is his nature. The physios were aware of there could be a potential injury there and they relayed their concerns to him. He felt he was strong enough, fit enough and able enough to carry on, which wasn’t the case. It was a real key moment in the game.”

Crystal Palace
James McArthur’s run of six successive starts came to an end yesterday in Palace’s win at Watford yesterday. The midfielder was omitted from the first XI after sustaining a minor knock during the week, but did emerge from the bench at the 77-minute mark.

Manchester City
Vincent Kompany, Joe Hart and Yaya Toure are all doubts for Manchester City’s midweek Champions League clash against Borussia Monchengladbach. The former was replaced on the substitute’s bench by George Evans after he felt a recurrence of his recent calf complaint during the warm-ups:

“I don’t think he will [be available on Wednesday]. At the beginning, he was fit to be on the bench. In the warm-up, he felt some problem in his calf. We will see in the way he develops in the next few days.”

Toure, meanwhile, came off after 56 minutes at White Hart Lane with a hamstring tweak and is now touch-and-go for Wednesday’s match-up:

“Yaya had some problem with his hamstring, and we don’t know [if they will be fit]. We must wait for Sunday or Monday to decide if they are 100 percent.”

As for Hart, the English shot-stopper was only fit enough to be named among the subs against Spurs after suffering a minor back injury earlier in the week:

“Joe had a problem with his back during the week. He could train just one day this week, and that’s why I decided to play [Willy] Caballero. Joe was not 100 percent.”

Stoke City
Xherdan Shaqiri was forced off after 54 minutes of the Potters’ home clash against the Cherries with a suspected hamstring problem. Mark Hughes later revealed that the Swiss international is set to undergo a scan today to determine the severity of the damage:

“Xherdan pulled up, but we don’t know how serious it is at the moment. It’s one that we will have to check, we will settle him down tomorrow and get him scanned and see the extent of it on Monday.  Obviously he didn’t stay on the pitch too long afterwards and that usually helps because it doesn’t cause any further damage. We hope it isn’t too serious and we will see how he is first thing on Monday morning.”

Imo he's the best choice from the Watford attack, and some folk wrote him off preseason in favour of Deeney. But Watford look like their priority will be grinding out results to get to safety, so I wouldn't be super keen on him.

I don't really buy this reasoning tbh . People say that some players are bad options because they play for defensive minded teams . Ighalo and Rondon in particular are criticised for this reason but it makes no sense to me . Vardy is having only slightly more shots in the box to Rondon . I am not saying Rondon is a better pick but he is not a worse pick because he is playing for WBA

In a 2-2 draw. Evans being subbed (so that he can get a standing ovation, not due to injury) in the last minute and Myhill and Dawson scoring own goals just after he leaves the pitch.

    Would a little help with my team for the coming week chaps, My team ATM is;

    Ruddy
    Darmian, Richards, Sagna
    Hoolahan, Pedro, Coutinho, Sanchez
    Sakho, Martial, Aguero

    Subs: McCarthy, Albrighton, Targett, Gomez

    My options for this week with 1.4m in the bank;

A: Darmian and Coutinho -> KDB and Dawson (-4)
B: Coutinho and Albrighton -> Mahrez and Tadic (-4)
C: Coutinho and Albrighton -> Sterling and Redmond (-4)

If I go for either B or C I would play AOA and have Richards and Sagna in defence with Darmian coming on as sub if needed.

I know Gomez, Targett and McCarthy are problems so any other suggestions are welcome.

    Thanks in advance guys.

How about moving Pedro instead of Coutinho?

I am reluctant to get rid of Pedro as that would mean no Chelsea cover....

And my thoughts behind getting rid of Darmian rather than Sagna is that I think Man City have more clean sheet potential in the coming week

    Gomis owners huddle in...

Thinking of banking on next weekend being the "bounce back weekend".

yep, it's to combat hooliganism, even people who live here have to buy a clubcard for a specific club just to be allowed to buy ticket.

Annoying, but I guess at least it doesn't make the Arena look like Old Trafford on a matchday - i.e. full of tourists.

      Silva out of the watchlist?
I have a really good feeling on him for when he is fit this weekend.

Any decent mids up to 6.5 worth a punt for the next few weeks?

Considering AOA as an alternative to the more obvious Gomez > Evans (3-4-3) transfer.

I'm not sure Cabaye is worth his price tbh with effectively just penalties. My concern with Sako is that he may face rotation if Wickham is back and there's only 3 spots for the 4 attacking mids (Bolasie, Punch, Zaha).

would be a snip at 4.4.

I doubt, cisse has been awful this season and looks to be on the way out. Perez is more threatened by Thauvin/ De jong, I can't see Newcastle playing 442 every week.

not sure it's a banker that walcott starts in the CL this week simply because he has still never started 2 games in a week (weekend and midweek, you know what i mean) since his return from injury last november.
basically think we could see alexis CF. OR walcott starts and this marks a turning point for him

As much as I would like to see Alexis as a striker, Wenger won't do it. He would need a partner to be effective, he couldn't do it by himself up there. Just doesn't have the physique to hold the ball up and not fast enough to fly by anyone.

He was pretty good against Tottenham as well, got some great tackles in, his passing has really improved, and he has a shot on him too. Just needs some confidence.

Another rubbish GW for me. Would you WC this lot? If not, what should be my transfers for this week?

    Fabianski McCarthy
    Huth Prodl Mings Kolarov Cedric
    Sterling Walcott Pedro Mahrez Wanyama
    Kun Diouf Martial

    1FT; 1.9itb

    Thanks!

I know it's a bit early, but none of my FF team are playing tonight.

    Faianski (TOT) - Schmeichel (nor)
Bellerin (MUN) - Kolorov (NEW) - Francis (WAT) - Nyom (bou) - Burke
Payet (sun) - Sanchez (MUN) - Walcott (MUN) - Mahrez (nor) - Hoolahan (LEI)
Aguero (NEW) - Sakho (sun) - Gomis (TOT)

Apart from Burke, I have no idea who to bench (Aguero....?)
Also I have yet to choose between Payet, Sakho, Mahrez and Kolorov regarding who to Captain.

    Any help much appreciated 🙂

Kun had 1 more penalty box touch than Martial this week, and 5 times the shots on goal.....

neither come remotely close to blowing you away stat wise though, think it best to save a transfer this week then change them for Pelle and Studge

Could work I suppose what about Barkley or Tadic (can see chelsea giving away a pen against saints). I have pedro and am keeping, don't think I'd get him though if I didnt as I have more pressing things to attend to.
