    Captain Hazard against Villa
    Sold Ighalo last week
Played Darmian over Sagna last week
    Benched Mahrez this week
Benched Darmian for Cresswell this week
Changed captain from Lukaku to KDB this week

It's no wonder noobs in my MLs are ahead of me.

Bought Mane for a hit AND benched Mahrez this week...

Still managed a green arrow for the GW though, so not all bad 🙂

    SHAZZA'S TEAM UPDATE

Another decent performance by the Ashley All Stars beating the global average by 3 points, however it wasn't enough to avoid a second consecutive red arrow dropping to 58th overall from 18th last week.

The Vardy-Mahrez double delivered yet again and with Watford at home next week we'll all be hoping for a green arrow in Gameweek 12!

    http://fantasy.premierleague.com/entry/1686099/event-history/11/

News of the week though is that we have an interesting twist with the introduction of a pie! Luke Pie! Although not truly dead having played his WC in GW9 Luke's is still doing flipping well on zero transfers to lie 43rd over all.

Doesn't the FFS ticker only take the strength of the opposing team into account, but ignore whether the team itself is any good?

If so, then any ticker that takes both teams into account ought to beat it easily.

Correct. The ticker is only intended to highlight patches of good/bad opposition, whether or not the protagonist team can take advantage is up to the reader to decide...

    Your opinion would be much appreciated;

    1 FT, 2.5 ITB

    Smalling / Kolarov / Azpilicueta
Payet / Sanchez / Mahrez / De Bruyne
    Vardy / Martial / Pelle

    A quick note on "coverage"

I get that you can have team coverage, and be wary of how many players you have from teams. Having 3 players from a side that could easily fall out of form is risky and it would make sense to reduce that number to 2 so your reducing the amount of transfers you would need to make to get rid of these players if they did indeed fall out of form.

So we see here there is a REAL effect this has as it could result in extra transfers being used, these transfers have a "value" which in the end will likely reduce your overall score.

HOWEVER the coverage that makes no sense from a numerical point of view is coverage within in a single GW when deciding who to bench.
Let's simplify the situation and look at defenders with clean sheets, not taking into account bonus or attacking returns.
    For example:
defenders A + B are from the same team and the chance of clean sheet is 50%.
Defender C is from a different team and the chance of a clean sheet is 40%

By playing A+B you can expect:
    players A + B to score 4 points on average ( 2 for playing + 2 for 50% chance of clean sheet)
50% chance of scoring 4 points total
50% chance of scoring 12 points total
    Average score 8 points total

    For playing A+C
Player C will score 3.6 points on average (2 for playing + 1.6 for 40% chance of clean sheet)
30% chance of scoring 4 points total
50% chance of scoring 8 points total
20% chance of scoring 12 points total
    Average score 7.6 points total.

So you are reducing the risk of a low score, but why does that matter for a single gameweek? It doesn't matter how well you do in a single gameweek. All that counts is the final score. There are occasions where playing A+C would be beneficial but not this early in the season. All you should be concerned about is maximising your "expected" score.

I realise this is a long post and a lot of you already knew this anyway but I feel it is important to understand and would help people score better. Are you a culprit of this way of thinking??

Haha, like i said last page. It's a bit of mess.
General idea is that people tend to go for lower average but smaller deviance.
Where as it would be better to go for higher average larger deviance.
Especially at this stage of season

The only thing that you havn't touched on is that sometimes it Is a good idea to have 'coverage' of a team which has a good chance of a c/s and from a defence that is highly owned.

          Good post though

You win some, you lose some, but in the long run ownership should not make any difference (unless the high ownership actually indicates a good choice).

It might be different however in a head-to-head context where you might want to either cover or differentiate from your head-to-head opponent.

Or towards the end of the season when you want to protect or chase the lead in your mini-league, and therefore need to cover or differentiate from your main rivals.

I think your conclusion is correct, but you can't discount bonus points. If you have 2 defenders from the same team, they'll be fighting over the same 6 bonus points, but if they're from different teams, the pool of bonus points will be 12. Of course, there will be twice as many people fighting for those 12 bonus points, but at least you have a chance for them to each get 3.

This site really should be a forum system.
-nobody talks about the article on the "comments"
-end of page nonsense which means timing of post is important for responses
-could have RMT/what to next/who to bench etc etc section
-hot topics would be easier to see and respond to

Yeah I know that, use it all the time. But if your not there when the post was made not much point taking part in the debate as it's normally gone quiet by that point.

Not quite true. If people ask questions on players, etc on the Sky game article I always answer them in the context of the Sky game

And quite a few of us ALWAYS read the articles. Except Paddy Power. And Mondogoal ... 😀

Yeah, I don't read any of the sponsored ones really, i.e. PP and the various daily games

Standard Lukaku goal against West Ham this weekend or do people think they can keep Everton out?

Pick one to bench from these lot?

    Payet_Wijnaldum_Mahrez_Sanchez_KDB

Already wastefully used AOA so not an option

Exact same front 8. I'm using the AQA personally but since that is not an option for you I'd flip a coin between Mahrez and Gini.

Am thinking Payet at the moment, but it could change if Sakho is fit for the weekend. i know Sakho is not scoring but he puts a massive shift in and they missed him this weekend.

I know there are a lot of ManU fans here, so there'll probably be enough people to help me with this; Jones is nailed on when fit right? For the next 6 gw's a nailed on ManU defender for 5.2 would be great and I'm looking to replace Prodl. Darmian is not an option as he is in and out of the team too often and Smalling is too expensive for me. I would consider Rojo, but if I could save 0.2 that would be great of course. Or would you advise to just pay that 0.2 and be done with it? Blind not a threat then?

      DDG or Smalling only

DDG or Smalling. Everyone else is a risk. Jones is injury prone and not necessarily nailed on due to LVG's love of Blind.

    Butland
    Bellerín Kolarov Smalling
    Sanchez KDB Payet Mahrez
    Lukaku Pelle Vardy
    Schmeichel Francis Dawson Westwood
    1ft, 2,1 m itb
Westwood no play a worry but might wait I guess. At least no benching headache 🙂
    Save or any better idea?

    A) Swap Huth > Kompany (starting Kompany, Monreal and Van Dijk, benching Evans and Darmian)
    B) Swap Martial > Ighalo (and start Evans)
    C) Both for a hit

I'm surprised you've endured with a chelsea defender this long!

I'd probably go with a saints defender if you haven't already got one

Tricky week this week. Firstly, who would you bench? (Currently i'm benching Hennessy, Azpi, Richards and Payet)

    Hart/Hennessy
    Galloway/Woschield/Huth/Azpi/Richards
    Payet/Ayew/Mahrez/Sanchez/KDB
    Vardy/Bony/Ighalo

Secondly...who would you captain? (Currently on Bony vs Villa but far from decided).

Hello please be gentle first time comment, benching dilemma my team GW12: GK Cech, defence bellerin, Simpson (Leicester), Sagna, midfield ayew (swans) mahrez, de Bruyne (C), Sanchez, forwards bony, Vardy, pelle. Bench currently hennesy, payet, clyne, dier.
Should I bench ayew for payet or pelle as his away goals ratio is much lower than home form? Thnx
