FA Cup Third Round Team News

With the FA Cup Third Round set to get underway later this evening, there’s been a raft of press conferences taking place over the last 24 hours. Here’s the main news coming out of the Premier League camps so far..

Phil Jagielka is set to start Everton’s clash with Dagenham and Redbridge as he steps up his recovery from injury. Seamus Coleman, Tom Cleverley and Romelu Lukaku are ruled out for the Toffees, though Roberto Martinez has confirmed the latter is reacting well to treatment after being forced off with an ankle knock against City in midweek.

Alexis Sanchez remains sidelined for Arsenal’s clash with Sunderland, Arsene Wenger has confirmed. The Chilean will also miss the midweek league trip to Liverpool but could be back in time for next weekend’s Gameweek 22 encounter with Stoke. Mikel Arteta is available to face the Black Cats, whilst Tomas Rosicky will return to full training next week.

Alan Hutton, Carlos Sanchez and Gabby Agbonlahor are all doubts for Villa’s clash with Wycombe tomorrow afternoon. Winger Adama Traore has been ruled out for eight-to-ten weeks with a broken bone in his foot.

Philippe Coutinho, Dejan Lovren and Kolo Toure have all been ruled out of Liverpool’s encounter with Exeter tonight. Whilst Toure is expected back for the midweek visit of Arsenal, Lovren is likely to miss the next two league matches, whilst Coutinho is set to be sidelined for around three weeks, according to Jurgen Klopp. Jordon Ibe is also set to miss out after becoming the latest Liverpool player to sustain a hamstring injury.

Slaven Bilic has revealed that Manuel Lanzini is expected to be out “for two or three weeks” with the groin problem sustained against Liverpool. Winston Reid is back in full training for the Hammers, whilst Victor Moses is set to return to training after the weekend.

Yohan Cabaye returns from a one-match suspension for Palace’s clash with Southampton. Alan Pardew has talked up the fit-again Bakary Sako and revealed he also hopes to have Connor Wickham and Dwight Gayle available for the Gameweek 21 trip to Villa on Tuesday evening.

Graziano Pelle is set to miss Southampton’s cup clash with Palace, Ronald Koeman has confirmed. The Italian has a chance of making the midweek match against Watford, though, as he steps up his recovery from a knee problem. Victor Wanyama serves the first of a two-match ban this weekend, Cedric Soares is fit for selection once again and Sadio Mane will return to the starting XI after being dropped last week for disciplinary reasons. Koeman also revealed that Frazer Forster remains out this weekend – the keeper will be assessed after he plays for the reserves again on Monday before a decision is made over his first-team return.

Geoff Cameron is a doubt for Stoke’s match with Doncaster after picking up an ankle problem in training. Mark Hughes also has concerns over Phil Bardsley (groin) and Stephen Ireland (thigh).

Sam Allardyce has hinted at rotation ahead of Sunderland’s trip to the Emirates. Jack Rodwell, Younes Kaboul, Seb Larsson and Adam Matthews remain sidelined through injury for the Black Cats.

Quique Sanchez Flores has revealed he won’t make too many alterations for Watford’s showdown with Newcastle, though the Watford boss conceded it’s possible he will rest “at least one” of Odion Ighalo and Troy Deeney.

Eddie Howe has revealed that Josh King was forced off with a niggle against Leicester last week and will continue to be monitored. The Bournemouth boss also confirmed his side are yet to receive a work permit for new boy Juan Iturbe.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

Should I do my Rambo + Vardy > Alli + Aguero transfers now before Vardy's drop/Aguero's rise or continue the wait? 🙁

I would do 1 of them at least. Vardy > Kun.

Rambo has a good fixture with Liverpools injuries at the back. Might even be worth holding

The beauty of FPL is it's simplicity. Throwing too many extra things in will spoil it. Most disprove of this silly chip system they introduced this year.

Evening all, best looking moves here?

    A) Barkley -> Alli/Ayew/Siggy
    B) DDG & Surman -> Elliot & Alli (bench Barkley)
    C) Moreno & Barkley -> Ivanovic & Alli (bench Bellerin)

With Lukaku a doubt I could do with a half decent sub, which B and C gives.

    Hennessey
    VVD, Wolly, Bellerin
    KDB, Mahrez, Walcott, Barkley
    Aguero, Lukaku, Kane

    DDG, Moreno, Simpson, Surman
    Bank 0.0m, 2FT

    Courtois
    Kolarov Aldy Ward
    KdB Ozil Mane Alli Stanislas
    Kane Lukaku

    Henn / Vardy Moreno Dawson

    What do you prefer:

    A) Kane > Aguero
    B) Kolarov + Vardy > Daniels/Wollscheid/Simpson + Aguero -4
    C) Save

I see this answer so many times - "i was holding him for so long, plus he has a great fixture/s coming" and after that GW its "god damn why didnt i sell" like 99% of the time ^^ Truth is Mane isnt performing, whole SOU is balls, its looking like Mane wants to leave SOU, so i would sell ASAP, wonder how you people hang with players like Mane or Hazard, its blind fate.

I think I would kick myself less if I kept and he blanked than if I sold and he finally delivered - plus knowing that I will get rid after 2 fixtures whatever happens is comforting, and also Aguero in may be priority over Mane out?

Every man and his goat getting Alli in now. What's been the trigger all of a sudden, Jonty or Aguero?

Word of caution. If you do, get him as a 4th mid so you don't have him benched like I did vs West Brom and Everton.

I'd do well to ignore price and treat every player as equal. Picking a team based on form - or at least the captain - is pretty intuitive and obvious but not a rule that I seem capable of following.

When will you guys use your WC?

I am thinking about to do it now because my team is so bad, but it´s like a half season left and I will probably need to use it later on anyway.

    This is my team:
    Cech-McCarthy
    Clyne-Kolarov-Sagna-Delaney-Dier
    Coutinho-Ozil-Ramsey-Arnautovic-Stanislas
    Lukaku-Kane-Deeney

There is a lot of players that I want to get rid of like Deeney, Coutinho, Sagna/Kolarov, Stanislas...
And I want to buy Alli, Aguero, Payet, maybe a Chelsea player and so on..

So, is it worth it to use my WC already to get these players so I can enjoy my team but maybe be in this situation later again?

    I really need your help.
    Cheers

save it mate. I think you have the base of an ok team. obviously you do need to ship coutinho maybe for payet but I personally think Deeney is a nice differential.

Even if means you spend -4 or even -8 points I think it will be worth it in the long run still having your wildcard to play with

But if I sort it out with hits? Is that worth it? When the silly season is over there are maybe some new players that I want, then I maybe should use it.

Cut him some slack imo. He is a good finisher but he is just not as good as Liverpool 'need' him to be. FFS here against West Ham were all over him...

Sturridge is probably one of the top 3 strikers in the PL and if he can stay fit and that's a big if , I predict big things from Liverpool next season 🙂

BF, when Benteke has been on the pitch, we have adapted our football to get more crosses into him. He's not converted them. Stats also show that Benteke isn't reliant on crosses as made out, he scores more goals with his feet than his head.

This season the ball has fell at his feet on many occasions and he's not converted. The theory of 'we don't suit his style' goes out the window.

He struggles when he has time on the ball. Always in 2 minds, as shown vs Leicester and Sunderland. He is a good finisher, but a poor creator. Can't create many chances for himself the way Sturridge can/does

He has a pass accuracy of around 65%, which is awful. More of a case him not suiting us, than us not suiting him

What about the teams that have a more favourable schedule for the second half of the season.

I can imagine Manchester City will face a less easy schedule relative to the one of the first 20 GWs. Similarly Everton should have a better one. Any thought?

I think city have a better run considering they have the bigger teams at home and the weaker teams away for the most part. There is more chance of beating the weaker teams away and the bigger teams at home than the other way around. There is also the fact that city surely will have better luck with injuries in the second half of the season and that Sterling and KDB should settle more as the season runs on.

It is city's league to lose imo.

Given that Rangel's inclusion in the team fell nicely with Monk leaving and Curtis being made manager, are we fairly happy that he's now first team?

Really want to get on Swansea's fixtures in defence but unfortunately am 0.2m (possibly more soon) off of Williams).

It is hard to know Andy.

I think Curtis has already stated publicly that the reason they were conceding so much previously is they were only stopping 20% of attempted crosses from the wings so he has clearly put Rangel in to try and fix this. They are now stopping 50% of attempted crosses and their cbi in the box has gone up too so it might just be a case that once the ship is steadied that Naughton might get a run again?

My gut says Naughton is too good to leave out long term but I think Rangel has the position until he does something wrong.

Hmmm. Not sure that Naughton is as good as you say he is. Also, Rangel has coincided with previous good spells the club has had.

Wonder if Curtis has latched on to this, disciplinary problems notwithstanding?

Yeah very debateable re Naughton's merits tbf (I'm not his biggest fan). I do think he is better attacking wise than Rangel though. Bit like the Bavies/Rose situation at spurs I guess?

        In the Guardian as well:

        http://www.theguardian.com/football/2016/jan/08/yaya-toure-reacts-angrily-to-not-being-named-african-footballer-of-the-year-reports?CMP=share_btn_tw

The quotes are really strange, it sounds like he's talking about something else, but all reports say that it is a response to coming 2nd.

He originally told these words in his native tongue and imo , the poor translation has led to these reports

Any idea on a more accurate translation?

I don't know but maybe like "I was disappointed . It was really good year for me with both City and Ivory Coast..."

Its all speculation anyway. And being a footballer doesn't make a person good , does it?

Nope, it certainly doesn't *cough* Suarez *cough*. He has no obligation to be a good bloke, I don't buy the whole "role-model" idea that people bang on about, but he is a prat.

Well, They have it in for Adebayor as well. The thing both Adebayor and Touré have in common, is that they both send serious amounts of money home.

Many of their detractors neither acknowledge this, nor their own contrasting meanness.

          Africa is a turbulent place.

But is this not simply about who the best player was this year? It wasn't Toure.

Knee jerked Ramsey + Vardy > Aguero + Alli. I'm in huge trouble if it backfires 😀
