The Weekend Team News

Dele Alli is back in training but will be assessed ahead of Spurs’ clash with Watford. Andy Carroll could be back for West Ham, Palace are hit with long-term injuries to a couple of key midfielders, whilst West Brom’s Jonny Evans is ruled out for a fortnight with hamstring problems.

Dele Alli will be assessed tomorrow after being withdrawn early on due to dizziness in the midweek win over Norwich. Mauricio Pochettino has confirmed the midfielder is back in full training, saying “all the signals are good” ahead of the home encounter against Watford. Ryan Mason will also be assessed as he steps up his recovery from injury.

Andy Carroll returned to training on Monday and will be assessed ahead of West Ham’s trip to Southampton. New loan signing Emmanuel Emenike is also available after receiving his work permit, whilst Angelo Ogbonna will “hopefully” be fit, according to Slaven Bilic, after missing the midweek win over Villa due to illness. Sam Byram has been ruled out for a week after sustaining a small injury in training.

Tomas Rosicky could be out for up to three months after suffering an injury setback whilst on duty for the arsenal under 21 side. Danny Welbeck is set to step up his recovery with a run-out for the Gunners’ second-string later today.

Palace midfielders James McArthur (ankle ligaments) and Jason Puncheon (hamstring) are set for lengthy spells on the sidelines, with the former likely to miss the rest of the season. Joe Ledley remains out for two more weeks with a thigh injury, though Alan Pardew reckons Yohan Cabaye has a “very good” chance of returning from injury, whilst Dwight Gayle is available after returning to full training. Emmanuel Adebayor is “almost ready” to start and will have another cameo appearance, though Connor Wickham misses out through suspension.

Claudio Ranieri will make a late decision on the fitness of new signing Daniel Amartey ahead of Leicester’s trip to City tomorrow lunchtime.

Bournemouth boss Eddie Howe reckons Josh King – who made an appearance off the bench in midweek – is now up to full fitness. Junior Stanislas remains a doubt, though, with the Cherries set to make a late decision on the winger’s fitness.

Jeremain Lens is a major doubt for Sunderland after being forced off with a groin problem in midweek. Yann M’Vila is expected to shrug off a foot problem to continue in the centre of the park, whilst Younes Kaboul is back in the squad after overcoming a hamstring injury.

Jonny Evans has been ruled out for a couple of weeks with the hamstring injury that forced him off against Swansea. James Morrison and Chris Brunt also remain on the sidelines for the Baggies, Tony Pulis has confirmed.

Ki Sung-Yueng has been ruled out of Swansea’s clash with Palace after being forced off with concussion in the 1-1 draw with West Brom. New manager Francesco Guidolin has revealed that Alberto Paloschi “could” be in line for a first start on the back of an impressive sub performance at the Hawthorns.

All this and more has now been updated in the Team News section ahead of tomorrow’s deadline. Keep an eye on our official Twitter Stream for breaking news – as the day unfolds, we will issue updates from Friday’s press conferences and refresh our Team News tab accordingly to keep you informed.

Stick with Lukaku. Swap him with Vardy on GW27 and enjoy until GW30.
Vardy won't score away against City and Arsenal.
Martial won't score away at Chelsea.
Lukaku has a better chance to assist or score at Stoke.

How about if I throw Mahrez into the mix..

    Who to play?

    - Cresswell (sou away)
    - Dawson (new away)
    - Mahrez (mcy away) - would mean a change to 4-4-2

Well no, obviously there is a difference. Players still want success, and that means winning respected titles like the PL and the CL. The idea of living in England is also far more attractive than living in China.

Many players have received huge offers from Qatar/China and rejected them - Ighalo last summer for example.

        1. pompeyfan
          • 14 Years

it's obviously an each to their own case for players and their choices, but you can't suggest that for example South American's or African's should have any real loyalty or will to play in Europe over China or the US for example.

Not sure why you would say living in England is far more attractive than living in China?! That's totally down to personal taste. Having lived in a few parts of the UK previously I'd certainly choose China now given the choice of similar jobs in either country.

I have seen many reviews here that City-Leicester is a game of many goals. However:

1- Leicester has 5 Clean Sheets the last 6
2- City has 4 clean Sheets in the last 6
3- Vardy does not make a goal away from GW13

In my opinion, Ranieri will park the bus, the tie is already an excelent result for staying in the fight for the title.

So, I do not buy Vardy this gameweek, will not give the armband to Aguero and maybe let Mahrez in the bench (in doubt between him and Payet).

    Feel free to disagree.

Etihad usually sees a lot of goals. If City go up early then Leicester will be forced to attack.

City are gonna attack relentlessly IMO a Leicester goal from a counter attack is entirely possible but at the same time I agree, there will be no more than 2-3 goals and I'd even bet on 1-0 myself

      Not sure.

An early goal would change the match. I think City will want to go for the jugular.

I've had four red arrows in the last five weeks. and my overall ranks if in free-fall after benching Alli and only scoring 43 in GW24, dropping me from 34K to 83K. What would you do with this lot ?

    Butland, Myhill
    Smalling, Toby, Souare, Williams, Moreno
    Sanchez, Ozil, Payet, Mahrez, Alli
    Kun, Lukaku, Ighalo

    1 FT, 1.1m ITB

WC, Bench Boost and Triple Captain still available

I think on balance I'd rather have Lukaku against Stoke than Vardy against City

Martinez: "We'll assess Romelu Lukaku after training today. He's moving a bit better. He hates missing games. I'm hopeful of him being fit".

This.means he'll play right..? Looks like that to me

no. Think there has been quite a lot of wishful thinking from people on here. This is the first time I saw the actual quote, but I had been assuming he'd been passed fit having read the posts on here.

      I'd say he's still a doubt

Did Kaku --> Vardy last night. Obviously carries risk but it's a nice move for negotiating the blanks and I prefer Vardys form and fixtures for the run in, plus the value swings.

Which of these do you prefer as my next move? 1Ft & £4.6ITB

    DDG / HENN
    Bellerin Sagna Waker Dawson Simpson
    Payet Alli Ozil Mahrez Stanislas
    Vardy Aguero Kane

A.) Stanislas --> Arnautovic ~ great for the blank GW27 & 30 and allows me to not have to play both Leicester assets of needed.

    B.) Ozil --> Sanchez

    C.) Save

    Thanks :).
