The ScoutCast – Episode 192 – Swansong

There’s emotion in the air as we prepare to bid goodbye to another season in tonight’s ScoutCast.

I’m joined by Jonty, Andy and Luke as we take the opportunity to look back on our campaigns, dwelling on our successes and regrets and recalling our favourite moments from a most testing Fantasy Football season.

We also take time to identify out lessons learned and appraise the Fantasy Premier League season, carrying out a “Chips Post Mortem”, whilst discussing the likely impact of next season’s Friday night kick-offs.

Finally, for one last time this term, we look forward to the weekend and attempt to identify the final day heroes who could yet make an impression on ranks and mini-leagues.

The ScoutCast is first aired live on our YouTube channel on Wednesday night. Be sure to subscribe to get a heads up on future broadcasts.

You can view the full Google Hangout version of this episode via the second player below or stream the edited audio from this link or the first player.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Yes, but Carroll an awful player? If used effectively, he is a real asset if you manage game time.

As an fpl option, well a punt at best, we knew that.

    4 points ahead in ML...

Thinking Coutinho and Townsend to Tadic and Mane for a -4.

Coutinho won't play and can't see Newcastle being motivated.

    Thoughts?

Question on the All Out Attack chip:

If one of your attsckers doesn't play, do you get a defender auto subbed in?

You can only play two at the back. If one of your attackers doesn't play, they don't get substituted for a defender to change the formation back to a 3-4-3, or such like. It happened to me when Mahrez was benched by Ranieri. You just get 0 points.

Noboby binned Granville off...he needed timeout in the evenings to get his political career on track. Sadly, we have to record in the evenings right now but hopefully we can coax him back for a few next season when he's not out canvassing for votes.

    Wimbledon Doubles Update

Congratulations to Spectrum & Newton1982 for winning the final in straight sets against Still Unsure & Mr Alex. Both Spectrum and Newton1982 scored over a hundred points before hits this week and ran out 197-174 victors after accounting for the 4 point hits that both players took to bring in Eden Hazard.

Their journey to the final was not an easy one as they had to come back from a set down in each of their first 3 matches, but they battled through and really hit form in the home stretch, winning the quarters, the semis and the final each in straight sets.

As always you can view the full tournament history here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1m-0_-g1oDN9-q_LXwfmjv4_3zvbx79VWSDLe7M0hmTQ/pubhtml

Just been reading he "new chip" hot topic. I suspect that the two captains one is most likely, but double points for clean sheets is the one that first sprang to my mind and would be more consistent with the style of the AOA chip.

Does anyone know when the line-ups will be announced on Sunday? I'm wondering if it will be possible to do our transfers after the line-ups are ready..

No, Jan WC just led to too much templating. I quite like the chips too, even if I now dislike Andy Carroll!

Strip it right back to one wildcard but still carry over free transfers

They should bin wildcards too IMO, but the added variance from having them makes it more interesting for more casual players.

You should play Sky FF then if you want a cap. 40 transfers for the season and that's your lot.

From a small sample of my minileagues I got the impression that more people were playing properly for longer than previous seasons - maybe the chips helped with this. So, I can't see them being binned at all

Never mind chips. What about position changes for FPL next year (not that I will be playing) but

Blind and Bruntiesta to be made defenders
      Kirchoff to be a mid?
      Dier to be a mid?
      maybe Son as a mid?
      Kenedy, who knows

      any other?

Blind 5.5-6m defender and he's in.
Son at mid may be interesting at one point but Spurs will be in Europe.

To qualify they need to play quite a bit of the season and the majority in the position.
Kenedy will probably stay a mid but the rest look right.

and all the above players (bar Kenedy did) Kirchoff only half a season, but all his time at Sunderland

Blind started 50 odd games at CB for United this season, if that's not enough for re-classification then what is

brunt was 1st choice lb until he got injured

Dier has been a holding mid all season

          all surely qualify

I see. Hardly played so probably won't change him. Quite a good attacker too.
Don't see him as a defender, that's for sure.

Martial to join Sanchez and Hazard as mids. Or in reverse, Sanchez and Hazard become forwards.

This won't happen but there needs to be some consistency and recognition of the 4-2-3-1 formation and how FPL want to classify those wide forwards.
