Dugout FC Returns to Fantasy Football Scout

We’re delighted to announce that Fantasy Football Scout are once again supporting Dugout FC ahead of the new season.

Not only have we reset our league from last year, due to the demand (we still have 69 divisions of active players), we’ve also created a brand new Fantasy Football Scout North league in preparation for the upcoming campaign.

If you missed the opportunity to get involved a year ago, we urge you to read on and see what all the fuss is about.

What is it?

Dugout FC and other draft-based Fantasy games take us back to our Fantasy Football roots; rolling back the years to a time when we played with a team consisting of unique players, dear to our hearts, over the course of the season.

If you fondly remember games where nobody but you could own Premier League goal machines such as Alan Shearer or Thierry Henry, then Dugout FC should provide you with some fuzzy warm nostalgia.

Having said that, the game is very much up to date, with all manner of technology in play: online matchday hubs for real-time updates and live chat; IOS and Android mobile apps; an Opta stats-based scoring model and the ability to run your draft night and conduct transfers in-game are all catered for.

You’ve got the option to go full old-school and gather a bunch of mates in a pub to take part in the all-important draft in your private league, although the mobile app essentially means you have the whole game in your pocket on the go.

You can log in to the virtual “draft room” and bid against friends or complete strangers by joining a public league. There’s even an option to draw up a shortlist of desired players to take care of your draft, in case you miss out on the night.

You can also set up games to run over the course of the season, or just for a month or week.

Why Should I Play?

First of all, it’s free to play. With that in mind, we really have been struggling to find a catch.

The appeal of draft games cannot be understated. There really is nothing quite like the drama and twists produced on draft night.

The plotting, the intrigue, the tactics, the highs of bagging your star pick and the lows of having to dip into the bin of rejects to complete your squad – it’s fair to say it’s one of the reasons I fell in love with Fantasy Football all those years ago.

Dugout FC takes the faff out of all the draft logistics, whilst claiming to have a unique Opta-based scoring system, taking over 2,000 events of every match into account, which they reckon is one of the best around.

Once the draft is complete, you’ll compete in a league of ten on a head-to-head basis – with three points for a win and one for a draw.

Each league can have multiple divisions and Dugout FC even takes care of the promotion and relegation up and down the ladder at the end of every season.

Your squad will consist of 18 players following the draft, although you can swap out assets to pick up free agents from the player pool at any time. You can also enter into negotiations for swap deals with other managers in your division – it’s all taken care of within Dugout FC’s tech.

The game takes this further by generating stories of transfer speculation on behind-the-scenes wheeling and dealing in your division.

How Do I Start?

By registering here: https://www.dugoutfc.com.

As mentioned, it’s free to join.

You’ll then need to decide whether to join a league or set up your own. You can create leagues that run for the season, the month, or just for a week.

If you’ve got an odd number of players wanting to join, Dugout FC will provide a Caretaker Manager to play against one person each week for the three points. The Caretaker Manager scores the average of all other teams in the division for that week.

Once that’s sorted, arranging a time for your draft date is the main priority.

Bear in mind that, with the new app, you can log in to the draft night whilst on the go.

As we mentioned, we now have a Fantasy Football Scout South League with 69 divisions and a new North League, just waiting for you to enter your teams and be allocated into a division.

You can join the new Fantasy Football Scout League via this link.

It’s first come, first served, so the earlier you get involved, the higher the division of our new league you’ll be placed in.

Our default auction date for each division is currently Friday, August 5, at 8pm UK time. Don’t forget you can use the app to get involved.

We will be running our own draft at that time over in the top division of the Fantasy Football Scout South – a league made up of myself, Jonty, Granville and other staff members – and we may even launch a live Google Hangout for the occasion.

For more information about Dugout FC, visit their FAQ.

We’ll be following this article up with a more in-depth scan of Dugout FC’s scoring system and auction night strategies next week.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Mmmmm. BF's comments about Fernandinho just led me to check up on him. Seems Pep really does like him, saying he can play anywhere and I agree....sadly he includes defence in that as well...

Sad that. I remember a couple of years ago he played a more advanced role for a couple of games (only a couple)...Two assists in the first one...

I think so. Klopp loves to score as many goals as possible. I think Liverpool could beat Arsenal, because Arsenal have sometimes had a shaky start to the season

In my opinion, the best time to use the wild card is probably either gameweek 4 or 5. Many of the big teams start to face each other, and the likes of Everton, West Ham have it easy

They have done great job pricing players this year. Really hard to get team that I'm satisfied. Not much options 6.0 or below strikers and midfielders makes it hard.

I think this season, defence is more important than any other. Due to the massive price gap between strikers, a good rotation in defence is key

Don't get so greedy with your forwards is what I'd say.
Just downgrading one of Lukaku or Costa to a 6.5 will have a positive trickle down on your mids and defense.

I think Ramsey will become really interesting as the season goes on. I'd say he has been priced kindly at £8.0m. A player of his calibre will surely be in the first team, and now that Xhaka/Cazorla/Coquelin/Elneny are there to play base, and Ramsey looks more comfortable in one of those attacking mid positions, he's pretty nailed on to make right attacking mid?

    In my shortlist for sure.

He was definitely the reason we lost against Portugal! No-one in the squad could replace him and it was left to Bale to search deeper and deeper for the ball in his absence!

I'm having him. Crap season last year but was playing with an injury for a long time. A fit Aguero with a fit Silva is the best double act in the prem, and for the team most likely to be highest scorers on any given gameweek...

my gut says that KDB will play central attacking and Silva will play a more removed role given his exceptional ball control and composure coupled with his diminutive stature and lack of pace/physicality

Yes I prefer KDB but I'm planning short term and KDB is still on holiday. Will he even start at gw1? Silva + 1.5M sounds good to me. David looked very sharp against BvB

I like it actually; pretty balanced, strong midfield etc.

It just hinges a bit too much on Benteke moving to Palace and Long getting the nod ahead of Austin for me. That will work itself out before the deadline though.

Leko is obviously a punt; might be worth backing Fletcher etc. for security of points.

    really liking this Aguerovic team..

    Foster - Jakupovic
    Terry - Shaw - Taylor - Friend - Benalouane
    Martial - Eriksen - Sigurdsson - Deulofeu - Capoue
    Aguero - Ibrahimovic - Gray

    + Martial could be Mahrez
+ Gray could be Austin/Long (would prefer this actually)

It's hard to have much sympathy with managers and clubs moaning about how long the season is when you see the rubbish friendlies they play now, for pre season, and the distances they travel... It's getting worse...

Instead of pushing for a "Winter break" why don't they do a proper "Summer break"...

      Commercial nonsense most of it.

      USA, China.

45 mins here and there and saying it's to build match fitness.

Youd get better match fitness busting your arse in a training camp in Europe and playing a few games in that country.

Maybe the teams that have done what I've said will start the season better?

And I might be bringing this up a bit and yes I gather that's there FIFA directive but the length of players breaks post international tournament has been absurd and I don't get why the players wouldn't want to be training as soon as possible.

Frigging Pogba has been running around like a rock star.

All a bit unprofessional for my liking.

I disagree that the financial aspirations of a club, which in the end is a business, are relevant to the cause. The players need to be sharp and the friendlies aren't ONLY for commercial purposes, though mostly.

Every other league has a milder schedule than the Premier League AND the Premier League is the only league with two domestic cup competitions. The managers' complaints aren't off-base.

Why should the English FA scrap a domestic cup when all European formats have been expanding for example?

The amount of games in the Europa is an embarrassment. The ECL has got bigger.

Which should the League Cup for example be scrapped? It has a purpose.

Managers complaints don't have much basis for me these teams have so much money for squads and wages these days. Too many games shouldn't really be an issue for me.

No one said it should be scrapped, but that doesn't mean that they can't complain.

The season starts earlier and has fewer breaks..it's a telling bullet point on the list of why English clubs have been struggling lately in the CL in the latter stages IMO

            It's not really though.

They have struggled because they don't have the quality or haven't had the quality to match the level of the best teams in Europe at that given time fairly simple.

English clubs in the past have played a comparable amount of domestic games and dominated the European scene. They were better teams. Better players. What was more telling was that for most of last season Leicester and Spurs bossed the league and bossed it's ECL representatives. Hardly a great indication of their excellent quality.

You didn't say it should be scrapped but your implying it's a hindrance with 'AND' in nice big letters. I'm answering that. Why should they scrap it while Europe extend their format? While UEFA extend international format too? By the same token lesser clubs might want to keep the League Cup due to lack of Europe etc should clubs in Europe playing more games be more entitled to complain louder?!

At this stage your probably looking at your first comment thinking why did I bother talking out my arse in the first place.

"They have struggled because they don't have the quality or haven't had the quality to match the level of the best teams in Europe at that given time fairly simple."

I called it a bullet point on the list, not the reason why.

"Why should they scrap it while Europe extend their format? While UEFA extend international format too?"

I mean, that's hardly relevant. All clubs will be affected the same way by it but the English clubs still have the extra competition in the end lol..

Maybe the solution is to not make participation compulsory. Maybe a big club says "screw it, we only care about the FA Cup"..

              I don't know honestly
