Suspensions

The Suspension Tightrope Returns

Afforded a little respite by the international break, we have time to give a heads-up on the return of the Suspension Tightrope widget, which is now available under the Watchlist rankings in your right sidebars or via the fourth button via the homepage on mobile.

For those unfamiliar, the Tightrope keeps a tally of cards accrued from all domestic matches across the EFL Cup, FA Cup and Premier League matches.

The table is updated after each Gameweek, and we aim to share the Fantasy implications of the latest yellows and reds collected in articles like the one you are reading now.

We’ll bring you news of all the latest suspensions, along with updates of the yellow card totals of the most regular perpetrators as they edge towards a domestic ban and clamber onto the ‘Suspension Tightrope’.

Essentially, players have to avoid collecting five domestic bookings before New Year’s Day, when the Tightrope is extended to 10 cautions. From a Fantasy perspective, Gameweek 19 – which takes place on December 31 – is the last round of fixtures to concern us.

Already, six players are just one yellow away from a single-match suspension.

Diego Costa’s presence on the Tightrope is clearly the most significant to Fantasy Premier League managers.

Chelsea’s top scorer has thrived under the guidance of Antonio Conte – having served up returns six of the first seven Gameweeks; he sits at the top of the FPL forward standings.

The third most popular forward option, Costa – who sits in 28.9% of FPL squads – has yet to manage two matches without a booking ahead of the Blues’ clash against Leicester.

With old boss Jose Mourinho and Man United rolling up to the Bridge in Gameweek 9, Conte needs his main striker to be on his best behaviour against the Foxes.

Jordan Henderson, Ryan Shawcross and Jose Holebas, along with West Brom pair Jonny Evans and Claudio Yacob are also teetering on the brink.

Below them, there are 23 players sitting on three yellows apiece.

Raheem Sterling is the standout name amongst that batch.

Owned by over 26% of FPL managers, he was booked just once in the first five but has since incurred the referee’s wrath in each of the last couple of Gameweeks against Swansea and Spurs.

Two of Leicester’s first-choice back-four – Robert Huth and Danny Simpson – also feature, along with Watford’s 7%-owned Troy Deeney.

The Hornets skipper has netted three times in four and now faces Middlesbrough, Swansea and Hull.

Marko Arnautovic is just two cautions shy of a ban as the fixtures turn in Stoke’s favour, as are a trio of Palace midfielders – Yohan Cabaye, Jason Puncheon and Wilfried Zaha.

Indeed, the Eagles are one of three teams boasting a trio of players in our full run down, with Watford’s Valon Behrami and West Brom’s Craig Dawson also giving their managers cause for concern.

This leaves Burnley’s Andre Gray as the only player still serving out a suspension. He remains sidelined for matches against Southampton and Everton before returning to contention in time for the Gameweek 10 trip to Old Trafford.

Constable Maggie Habib is a female officer of South Asian descent who was raised in Accrington. Habib is generally the "straight man" in Fowler's uniformed branch. Highly intelligent, she often approaches issues wisely and methodically, although she is also capable of making a fool of herself, such as in series 1 episode 2 when she throws herself at a fireman only to discover that he is sexually attracted to Goody rather than to her. Fowler has commented that she is a fine officer and that she has a good career ahead of her. For her part, Habib appears to respect Fowler's integrity while being amused and occasionally irritated by his old-fashioned views. She always tries to deflect Goody's attentions, but deep down she is sympathetic to him and argued against Goody being charged when he punched the skinhead who verbally abused her. Habib is pro-immigration and vocally progressive in her socio-political views. She has a study-freak turned drug-user sister, Nazia, whom she protects in one episode by concealing evidence during a vice operation. She was nearly charged by Grim until Fowler blackmailed him by threatening criminal charges for a minor "crime" that Grim himself had committed. She was also citizen arrested by local villain "Terry the Tank" after Grim tried to use her as a "honey trap". Habib often stifles her laughter at Inspector Fowler's unintentional double-entendres.

So she is from Lancashire not Liverpool

Gw6 I switched from kane, ibra, hazard, Redmond to aguero, Austin, kdb, firmino. In two gameweeks the four I sold have 0 returns. The four I bought have 4 goals 5 assists. I'm just bloody well chuffed with that 🙂
Kdb injury was annoying but silver lining it let me get walcott last gw, benteke this one, Fuchs next gw.

    How nailed on is Blind?

Smalling and Bailly seem nailed on. So that leaves Blind at LB or in midfield.

    Pogba is nailed on.

So how long can Blind keep one of Herrera or Shaw out?

Risk & reward. He loves bonus points. United play better with him present, Maureen under pressure to deliver & seems to have differences with Shaw.

Masuaku and sterling to Kosc/mustafi and son/Walcott worth a hit???

If I don't do these transfers I'm getting masuaku for one of vertonghen/holebas/smith so it's vert/holebas/smith vs kosc/mustafi and Sterling vs Son.
Other option to get kosc/mustafi is Baines to vert/holebas/smith.

      Foster - Jaku
Coleman - Vertonghen - Holebas - Evans- Kingsley
      Sanchez - Sterling - Mane - Antonio - Snodgrass
      Kun - Lukaku - Diomande

      Have 2FT and 0.2itb
I have no idea of what to do with the transfers, so any suggestions?

Help me. Should i make a move tonight with 2 FT:

        Pickford (Foster)
Baines, Mc Auley, Valencia (Collins, Amat)
        Chadli, Hazard, Antonio, Capoue (Januzaj)
        Aguero, Ibrahim, Lukaku

        0.1 m in bank. 2 FT left!

Januzat - Can he survive one more night or sell? I have 0.1m in bank and sadly cant afford the closest alternative Snodgrass without getting rid of Ibrahimovic or Baines. Any advice?

Take the drop. Someone else could get injured and you can keep Ibra if you please.

Thanks ! I also have Baines? Should i take him out tonight for someone like Pieters?

Why tonight? Let your expensive players get through their international games. Would rather use a transfer there than sell Baines if needed.

you do make lot of sense. Good night it is then. Here is my team, quite a disaster so far this season:

              Pickford (Foster)
Baines, Mc Auley, Valencia (Collins, Amat)
              Chadli, Hazard, Antonio, Capoue (Januzaj)
              Aguero, Ibrahim, Lukaku

              0.1 m in bank. 2 FT left!

Exactly, Strachans love affair with that numbnuts Bannen is hard to fathom.

Indeed. From ‏@Squawka "James McArthur has now scored 3 goals in his last 4 appearances for club and country" - yet Strachan never starts him.

A super duper modern digital TV with super duper modern digital box attached and I'm watching a grainy old Laurel and Hardy from 1931 on it.

Takes a bit if thinking about that does.
