Dugout Discussion

The Dugout Discussion – Southampton vs Burnley

Sunday’s events conclude at St Mary’s as Southampton play host to Sean Dyche’s Burnley.

The Saints will be seeking a fourth consecutive clean sheet in the Premier League, a seventh in a row in all competitions.

Visitors Burnley will need to improve their attacking threat in order to threaten that record. The Clarets have scored just five goals from their seven matches, creating three big chances – the fewest in the Premier Leauge.

The Saints attack has disappointed with just seven goals scored in their seven matches. However, the statistics show that they have the potential to improve on that record in this one: Claude Puel’s side have produced a shot on goal every 4.8 minutes at St Mary’s – only Liverpool have been more threatening in home matches this season.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Hmmm, don't recall it ever being this long before- almost two hours since last game finished

I manually update points in a league, so it holds me up!

Not really. If you play 352 he's your 5th mid, 343 and he's your 4th mid - much better options out there at 4th mid prices.

Ah, yes I suppose that makes sense. But in 352 your 6th attacker will be much better than the one if he was 343.

I've had Capoue from day 1 and he was 4.5m and he is now priced at 5.3m, an increase of .8. If I try to transfer him for Allen who is 4.8m I only make .1 from the transfer. Ridiculous!!!

Playing as no 10. That leading to.more goals is the guess part. Nothing automatic about playing forward and scoring. But on flipside too many options in stoke midfield so that line up can be volatile.

      I agree it looks good

But best to play it by ear- soton have a lot of fixture congestion with Europa league. That won't clear up until GW15 or so, but shortly after Christmas congestion will kick in

So could be a lot of rotation, though VVD would miss few games I imagine

Every year people ask this. Then Aguero goes on to score a goal every 100 minutes.

Aguero is FPL royalty. He's never overpriced unless his 90 minutes are under threat. Steklenburg saved his pen and pulled off the save of the season so far to deny another shot. On another day they go in and we're all over Aguero as usual. He's a season keeper in that City team, barring injury,

I'm keeping him for next week and then getting rid given his fixtures and price.

Burnley defend well at home which means he will have space to get crosses in whilst they sit back. Koeman's teams defend well, unsurprising given he's essentially one the top 5 centre halts ever lived, and gives his full-backs permission to get up and down the pitch.

Coleman and Baines (if he plays) are great options next week.

Free yourself. This happened to him last season, niggling injuries and unpredictable appearances. Get yourself some certainty until you know different.

The thing with Baines is even when fit he's not as threatening as people make out. 5.5 is good value for him if he's nailed on, but at the moment he's a nightmare to own. Get rid and save yourself some money and headaches

Am amazed why so many are getting rid of Sterling.

The guy has 4 goals and 3 assists in 7 games. And with those fixture playing for a city team with likes of Kun KDB Silva

You are always likely to get goalscoring chances

      Evans > Koscielny

    Trade or hold?

What would you do with this team?

    .4 ITB
    1 FT
    WC available

    Schmeichel
    Valencia / Pieters / Stones
    Sanchez / Redmond / Antonio / Firmino
    Aguero / Deeney / Lukaku

    Jaku / Capoue / Evans / Friend

Wouldn't WC. I'd say get rid of Antonio or Jaku.

Deeney is not the problem (I love him), is the coach when they play away.
