FFS Cup

FFScout Cups – Results and Third Round Draws

Our two Fantasy Football Scout cup competitions are progressing at lightning pace as we look back on the events of the midweek’s second round and ahead to round three, which kicks off on Saturday.

There were mixed fortunes for some former winners of our open to all cup, with reigning champion A Manager Has No Name among those to go through to the next round. He saw off community regular Krul runnings to set himself up with a clash with What Divock?!, who, with an overall rank of 69,987, is 42,738 places higher.

Among the other champions, Wild Rover and Donnellyc also prevailed, as did Mark, who squares up to tkmlim.

Of this trio, Mark – who is ranked 542 overall – can feel the most confident, given that his opponent is placed 66,102 places behind him.

However, the same cannot be said of 42,422-ranked Wild Rover, who faces the cup’s highest placed manager pitstop1 – he sits in 123rd spot.

There is also a seismic gap in the tie involving 284,826-ranked donnellyc and his opponent Who Divock Is Origi, who is comfortably in the top 10,000 at 6,139.

Sadly, I exit at this early stage, with Not Much Klopp’s score of 70 proving too much for my 50-point tally. Gribude joins me through the door, after being defeated 56-50 by Footopia.

Joining Mark as one of our live Hall of Fame representatives to survive is Dronny Imp, aka David Meechan, who progressed past Legomane 65-59 to take on Jurgen Can Karius, who, at 931,186, is the clear underdog given David’s pedigree and current 4,767 rank.

Another elite manager to make the cut is My Pretty Pony, aka Peter Kouewenberg, who is third in our live Hall of Fame and earns a third round encounter with Prophet.

This is another favourable clash for one of our top veterans, given that Peter’s opponent is ranked 262,527 places below his 1,567 ranking.

Top Marx, whose regular community analysis of the Hall of Fame involves some enlightening conversations with Peter, also makes it through and takes on Citizen Z.

The full third round draw can be found here.

Meanwhile, in our Members cup there will be a new name on the trophy after both former winners were dispatched.

Fuzzy Dunlop was beaten 60—56 by community veteran Parm, while Trigg was sent packing by Fenghh.

Billy Ketsu had a week to forget, after losing his place at the summit of the FFScout Members league and tasting defeat in his cup draw against Doctor 101.

Sleep Talk, who was beaten in round one of the open to all cup by Mark, is having better luck in the Members Cup, where he overcame Ma3jdw. This 38,164-ranked manager will now face 52,905-placed AT in the third round.

Another eye catching tie is community regulars FrankieTheGent and Hybrid.power’s clash.

There is also the chance of a giant killing for 56,534 ranked Rickytoso, who squares up to the Members cup’s highest-ranked manager Pukka, who is placed at 78th in the world.

The full third round draw can be found here.

There is £350 in Amazon.com or Amazon.co.uk vouchers up for grabs for the final top three managers in both tournaments.

Good luck to all those involved and if you would like more information on the schedule and prizes click this link.

I'm the bottom king, if you know what I mean:

If I get Alli I have the following benching headache unless Cout/Carroll are out. Bench one:

    A) Coutinho (stk)
    B) Firmino (stk)
    C) Origi (stk)
    D) A. Carroll (SWA)
    E) Siggy (WHU)

I would do Snoddy to Alli. Then my front 7 would be Alli, Eriksen, Firmino, Coutinho, Kun, Origi, A. Carroll. I will have to bench one without AOA

Kun seems to be strictly a one goal a game man now, so a 4 pt hit would probably net you between 2 and 4 points before you considee the armband doubling your stake.

But if you take a hit you're keeping him for the DGW anyway so I wouldn't worry about it.

Too much rotation in City and the points are spread around. Kun is the best bet imo, if you keep him for the doubles.

It's weird, I have made no transfers (first time for weeks) and I love my starting XI:

      Heaton (Mid)

Valencia (sun) Alonso (bou) Gibson (BUR)

Siggy (whu) Sanchez (cry) Alli (WAT) Sané (HUL)

Origi (stk) Vardy (eve) Lukaku (c) (LEI)

It's not perfect and I would probably swap Siggy for Cout, but Siggy has a good fixture and I'm saving my transfers for the DGWs now.

I had a pretty similar team this GW.
      Pickford - Jaku
      Soares Valencia Alonso - Nyom/Robertson
Sanchez Eriksen Alli Siggy - King
      Lukaku Costa Vardy.
Nothing ITB tho, you probably do have some spare money left?
In your case I might wanna get Agüero in if you can manage with 2 transfers (maybe Siggy>Zaha, Vardy>Kün? Or get Alli to make our teams match even more 😉

In coming weeks I wanna get rid of Nyom, looking at a Middlesbrough defender for DGW. You might wanna do the same with Brunt.

    Currently on this team:

    Heaton - Jaku
    Valencia - Alonso - Vertonghen - Brunt - Olsson
    Alexis - Siggy - Alli - Lanzini - Grosicki
    Lukaku - Costa - Llorente

Thinking about WC before the weekend, and doing this team:

    Valdes - Pickford
    Valencia - Alonso - Walker - Yoshida - Barragan
    Alexis - Alli - Sané - Zaha - Traoré
    Agüero - Lukaku - Gabbiadini*

*Can play 3-5-2 in the weekend if Gabb is not ready.

Do or don´t? Any better suggestions? Save WC? Very unsure of what to do..

Anyone else fearing Brunt will be rested at the weekend?

WBA with nothing to play for anyways..

There is always a possibility... I have Markovic coming in, so not an issue. 😛

Therefore no reason to rest people?

        More reason?

He played in the international break and now twice in 4 days. Plus Phillips is back

It's less reason to rest, I think, unless he NEEDS resting. Like if you have something to fight for, you rest players because the need it or just as a precaution, so as not to burn players out. With nothing to play for, you can allow yourself to burn players who are likely to get you the results, and only rest if the need it. So the question is, does Brunt look tired.

I could be horribly wrong though

    Ibrahimovic -

The man just scored and had a perfectly good goal ruled offside, but I am really hesitant on him. Here's why:

Utd have a game every 3 or 4 days throughout April.
Utd simply can't break defences down, regularly facing banks of 4+4 or 4+5.
He's really expensive - Lukaku at home twice now, Kun in top form, Kane coming back. Lots of other options.
Given Utd's league form and fixtures v the top sides, coupled with Mourinho's comments about prioritising Europa, he is further diminished as an option. While I think that he will play Ibra every game, he will probably rest a lot of important players elsewhere, potentially blunting Utd's already questionable attack.

Oh but he has a double I hear you say? Yes, but it's away to fortress Turf Moor and City, who will doubtless up their game for the derby. City have also become more resilient in defence of late, which has seemingly gone under the radar.

Verdict: Avoid Ibra. Get Origi instead, switching to Gabbi.

    Thoughts?

Utd are completely toothless attack wise at mo but I think I'll be getting Ibra for GW34 along with Tekkers.

    What to do?
    A: Llorente -> Negredo
    B: Llorente -> Origi
C: Save, and play Brunt as 4th defender

Origi imo. I know Negredo has the DGW but just because he's scored 1 goal recently doesn't indicate form...Origi looks to be stepping into Mane's shoes nicley

What brings most fantasy satisfaction? Brining in a player that very few have and seeing them score well, or going without a player that everyone else is captaining and seeing that player fail?

Being proved right is what it comes down to, but I don't see the problem in taking pleasure in other's failure. That seems to be against the culture here though. I am not saying "lol at Sanchez owners" isn't annoying and I don't advocate that. But rejoicing that he did nothing felt good last night; possibly better than a differential doing well for me

I love differentials the most, have son, origi, ward prowse and yoshida. All scored for me is awesome, what I like more tho is if my rivals see the lay and think I want a piece of that and then transfer them in when I'm kicking them out and getting the next candidate in. 🙂

Yea keeping them for now, will probably jettison origi first cause he is surely going to get rotated with crutches. And son next when Kane returns

I'm sure a lot of the "lol at Sanchez owners" comes from those who just appeared from behind the sofa at the full time whistle. More relief and hindsight than anything.
