Double Gameweeks 36 and 37 Confirmed

Earlier this lunchtime, the Premier League confirmed new dates for a number of fixtures, allowing Fantasy managers the chance to fine-tune their wildcard plans for the run-in.

Double Gameweek 36

Arsenal – Man United (H), Southampton (A)
Southampton – Liverpool (A), Arsenal (H)

Only two teams – Southampton and Arsenal – have been handed a double Gameweek 36 after their head-to-head, which was postponed due to the former’s progress to the EFL Cup final, was shifted to Wednesday, May 10.

Claude Puel’s men hardly have the easiest of schedules, with a testing weekend trip to Liverpool before entertaining the Gunners.

Similarly, Arsenal host Man United in the weekend prior to making their way to St Mary’s.

Double Gameweek 37

Arsenal – Stoke (A), Sunderland (H)
Chelsea – West Brom (A), Watford (H)
Leicester – Man City (A), Spurs (H)
Manchester City – Leicester (H), West Brom (H)
Manchester United – Spurs (A), Southampton (A)
Southampton – Middlesbrough (A), Man United (H)
Sunderland – Swansea (H), Arsenal (A)
Spurs – Man United (H), Leicester (A)
Watford – Everton (A), Chelsea (A)
West Bromwich Albion – Chelsea (H), Man City (A)

With ten teams set to play twice in Gameweek 37, this, as expected, offers a prime opportunity to use the remaining chips.

Obviously you are unable to play two chips in the same Gameweek, so if you are wildcarding in Gameweek 36 to set up your squad for Gameweek 37, it’s worth remembering that you cannot then also use a Triple Captain or Bench Boost in Gameweek 36.

Dealing the second wildcard in Gameweek 36 to catch the early potential offered by Arsenal and Southampton, then following it up with a Bench Boost or Triple Captain chip in the next Gameweek, looks the best solution.

In terms of the teams involved, the Gunners go to Stoke before welcoming Sunderland to the Emirates in Gameweek 37, while the Saints travel to Middlesbrough prior to facing Man United at St Mary’s.

Despite his recent drought, Alexis Sanchez is likely to find a place in many second wildcard teams, though non-owners may now choose to overlook him until the Gunners’ two pairs of fixtures, focusing their short-term plans instead on double Gameweek 34 attackers from Man United and Palace.

At 5.1, the likes of James Ward-Prowse could emerge as a decent midfield enabler, while the fitness of Manolo Gabbiadini will also play a part in our thinking.

For those looking to load up on Arsenal and Southampton for their back-to-back doubles, it’s worth bearing in mind that they also offer home matches in Gameweek 38, entertaining Everton and Stoke respectively.

Chelsea will now travel to West Brom before hosting Watford on Monday May 15, while the Hornets have consecutive road trips for their double Gameweek 37, with a visit to Everton preceding their Stamford Bridge encounter.

Crucially, moving the Chelsea v Watford match to that Monday evening has had a significant impact on the Gameweek 37 deadline.

Essentially, Gameweek 37 will now get underway on the evening of Friday, May 12, when West Brom host Chelsea and Everton entertain Watford. The deadline – an hour before the first match gets underway –will be 6.45pm.

Man City, meanwhile, are the only side set to play twice in front of their own supporters, with clashes against Leicester and West Brom on the agenda for Pep Guardiola’s side.

Having scored in each of the last four Gameweeks, Sergio Aguero will stake a claim for consideration here but – as we saw in the case of Raheem Sterling, who was rested for the second match of double Gameweek 27 – Pep’s tinkering could prove a spanner in the works.

For Man United, this means that all four of their matches across double Gameweek 34 (Burnley, Man City) and Gameweek 37 are away from home.

While those extra fixtures heighten the appeal of Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who has scored ten of his 17 goals on the road, the veteran has still offered more threat in front of his own fans, firing an effort every 18 minutes at Old Trafford compared with 30 minutes away.

Encouragingly for those eyeing up their backline, Jose Mourinho’s men have chalked up six of 12 clean sheets on the road this season – indeed, United have conceded less away goals (13) than any other side.

In spite of the Red Devils’ fine away record, faith in Spurs’ trio Harry Kane, Dele Alli and Christian Eriksen is likely to remain resolute as they welcome United to the Lane before heading off to Leicester in the final fixture of Gameweek 37.

As always, we’ll look to publish ‘Scouting the Doubles’ articles assessing the prospects in greater detail in the build-up to each double Gameweek.

For now, this is just a heads-up. Enjoy tinkering..

Nothing really changed, dilemma remains the same...

Maybe its not easy to take out Sanchez anymore, will be tough to justify and convince myself 😳

Still have a WC so no harm done, big question is when shall we use TC Chip assuming that BB is for 37?

TC in 37 should out score a BB if the bench has a mixture of single & double GW fodder

I'm more confident to get rid Sanchez now and get him back on wildcard.

Sanchez and Origi to Zaha and Kane.

I haven't made them yet but still planning Vardy > Kane, just working out whether to fund it with a GW34 doubler or a GW 36/37 doubler (no W/C)

Transferred out Sanchez and Barnes for a hit to Kane & King... Will be looking at getting Sanchez back in again in GW36 but still have WC so ok with that.

My worstbfear is Kane - he goes & has a bad score against Bournmouth & will feel very foolish after taking a hit to get him in. Will be compounded if somehow Alexis doesn't blank v Boro.

Also Zaha - went for King instead of him, so if he does well will also be a worry.

All part of the game though!

I have already done Costa to Kane. I am also doing Siggy to Zaha/Townsend. This is even better now with their GW35 fixture, but I need a closer look tonight when I get home from work.

Nothing changed. No big surprise over 37 DGWs, it was all on Arsenal's 35/36 double. As a non-Sanchez owner it doesn't affect plans, if anything makes them easier as won't be getting him until WC in 36.

Got Kane in this week for Vardy, he's a season keeper now I think. Will get Zlatan next week for the DGW, then in 35 who knows - maybe even a punt ahead of the WC.

Based on Southampton and Spurs defence, the latter beeing much more solid. Spurs rarely concedes penalties either so not much of a shot there as well.

        yes

unless he prefers Tomkins on RB, but Ward has been playing no matter who´s available in the past so unlikely. If move to be taken prior to 33 I say Ward is your guy, if waiting for doubles PVA could be an option depending on recovery. Hennesey also one to consider

Thanks to the stupid rule where points hits don't count in the monthly score when done in the first GW of the month, me still having a wildcard in my pay league now means nothing. Everyone with nothing to play for in the overall standings will do a -40 hit in GW36 to try and win the month.

Okay this is stopping me from making my Kane move. Need to downgrade McAuley where I will have 4.7m to spend on a defender. I most likely want a player who has decent fixtures and a double gameweek(not essential now it's GW36)

    Who would you pick?
    A)Yoshida
    B)Mee
    C)Pieters
    D)Ranocchia
    E) Kone
    F) somebody else

Tempted by Sunderland I know that seems like madness...

I looked at all those picks, and a few others (Bailly, Rojo, Mustafi, Gibson etc) and went for Pieters.

No DGW, but that doesn't matter too much as he'll go in my WC. His next few fixtures are wonderful, and that's all I need.

    No WC, rate my plan?

This is the greatest DGW exposure I can get for GW37 BB, using just 1 hit:
Forster (in for Valdes for GW36), Jaku
    Alonso, Valencia, Vertonghen, Stones, Yoshida
Sanchez, Eriksen, Sane, Zaha, 4.9m mid (Albrighton/Ndidi/Capoue)
    Kane, Ibra, Gabbiadini

Between 34, 36 and 37 I should have 20 extra games from the DGW's in total.
I could do other in hits for extra players (i.e. PVA for 34 before getting Stones, or Jaku > Pickford in 37).
I could keep TCarroll instead of Zaha, and get a 6.5m mid instead of a 4.9m mid, but Zaha has a nice fixture, will depend on form close to the time.
Don't think any Arsenal defenders are worth their price.

Looks good. The hit is basically for Forster who will pay it back with his 2 extra games.

As you know, I like Kante for the £4.9m midfielder slot. Not attacking but very likely to play both in DGW37 and should be good for 5-6pts + maybe an assist. Leicester have very tough fixtures and will probably be safe by then.

Yeah, the other option is to get a 4.3 defender instead of Stones, Pickford over Heaton and then I can afford someone like Pedro. But I think I'd prefer to spread the risk across Forster, Stones and a

PvA & Valencia. What to do with these two? Causing a headache at the moment... (especially with Amat on the bench)

Save for the DGW? Valencia is fine, and PVA was just pictured in training again.

OK cool, so Evans out for a Borough defender a good move?

I'm on WC this week already. So which GK pairing for teh run in. Woudl be good to have both with doubles in GW37 and at least one needs to have 2 doubles perhaps.

Currently on Grant & Pickford but Pickford has terrible double fixtures.

DDG takes up too much cash (5.4) but Mourinho does like to park the bus on occasion and can't see 3 oufield plyers from ManU I would want so seems the safe pick alongside Pickford.

Cech - Aresenal defence is weak but fixtures look good and is 5.3 vs DDG 5.4.

      I'd go Hennessey/Valdes and Pickford

Butland just played his first game for the reserves, I'd ditch grant and get Valdes.

Most DGW37 teams will have a bench with a mixture of single & double GW fodder ... surely TC the likes of Jesus or Spurs etc will out score (Ruth tactic btw)

TC is only one extra captain if it's a popular one.

It's not even one extra captain.

It's one extra player. 13 instead of 12.

I think there are many many good options and the armband will be spread around a bit in 37 - Spurs, City & Chelsea etc

Get the TC on the right DGWer and 'bob's your uncle'

Disagree with Mark, I think Lukaku (c) and Aguero would be a bigger differential than getting Kane (c) in, should imagine most above him will do the latter. A dullard move Kane (c) painted as a maverick move, at least Jonty was up front about being a robot dullard!
