Dugout Discussion – Spurs vs Chelsea

After Aaron Mooy fired Huddersfield to victory over Newcastle, we make our way to Wembley as Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea go head-to-head in Sunday’s final fixture.

A victory for Spurs today would set a new club record of 15 successive home league wins, yet their record in competitive matches at Wembley – two wins, one draw and seven losses – is anything but convincing.

Subject to over 164,000 transfers out last week, Harry Kane has now gone 11 Premier League matches in August without finding the net.

Yet Kane was still the second most captained player for Gameweek 2, handed the armband by 526,000+ FPL managers as he looks to recover from last Sunday’s blank at Newcastle.

Both Christian Eriksen and Dele Alli plundered the points at St James’ Park to put Kane in the shade.

They also combined for both goals in the corresponding fixture last season, with Eriksen supplying assists for Alli’s pair of strikes in a 2-0 home win over the champions.

For Chelsea, Alvaro Morata is handed his first start after emerging from the bench to bag a goal and assist in last week’s shock home loss to Burnley.

But there’s no Eden Hazard as he fails to recover from an ankle injury in time for the Wembley encounter.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

I'm thinking of getting him in, surely you can't drop for those fixtures?

    Own Kane, Ramsey, Willian...

How none of those three managed to score I have no idea. Two hit the post and Ramsey had approximately 500 chances to score.

    🙁

I have taken a 4 point hit this week by doing 2 transfers. If I now decide to play my wildcard, will that eliminate the 4 point hit? Thank you

Good question! I acted last night to catch the Pogba rise, letting Zaha go. It's that frustrating time now where it feels like all the 50/50 options I had preseason have gone the wrong way!! I had a 74 point week last week but looking at 30 this week with KDB to play!!!

Would probably require hits, as most people don't have a 7.0m defender slot sitting around.

Looks like Kane and the other Spurs players might struggle to settle in to Wembley - at 12.5M I don't know how much longer I'm willing to give him.

May be an option to switch him out and reassess at a later date. The pairing of Jesus and Eriksen is more appealing to me when compared with KDB and Kane.

Contes treatment of Costa is disgraceful, everyone going on about how they'll struggle. They're missing a bit part player and they have bags of defensive players. First half they spent half the game on the floor

There was a nice hot topic or discussion about how at 7M he is way better value spent than Willian at 7M pre season and I agree, don't own either as wasn't sure that a Hazard-less and Costa-less CHE would score well the first few weeks but he looks good again this year. The issue is 0 clean sheets and he won't score a direct free kick each match so he should be a 5-7 goalscorer again this year but will they keep the clean sheets?

Maybe not, but he is even more far forward than he was last season, something which I didn't even think was possible for an FPL defender. He's practically a striker, no joke.
