The Gameweek 3 Team News

Alexis Sanchez is back for Arsenal’s trip to Liverpool, with Laurent Koscielny also available again following suspension.

Manuel Lanzini is in contention to return for West Ham’s trip to Newcastle, but Xherdan Shaqiri is a doubt for Stoke City’s trip to West Brom due to a hamstring injury.

Here’s our summary of the team news so far ahead of Gameweek 3.

Arsene Wenger revealed Alexis Sanchez is available for Sunday’s trip to Liverpool, while Laurent Koscielny is back from suspension. However, Calum Chambers (groin) is a new injury doubt for Anfield.

Liverpool are again without Philippe Coutinho, while Jurgen Klopp will also need to check on Trent Alexander-Arnold, who suffered a dead leg in the midweek Champions League victory over Hoffenheim. The two-goal hero in that match – Emre Can – is also a doubt after suffering a knock, with Klopp optimistic of his chances of facing the Gunners.

Leon Britton is available for Swansea City’s trip to Crystal Palace after returning to training on Thursday following a back problem. Tomorrow’s match comes to soon for Fernando Llorente, who should return after the international break. Defender Kyle Bartley has been ruled out for between six to eight weeks with a knee ligament injury.

For the Eagles, Ruben Loftus-Cheek has been ruled out due to a groin problem, while Wilfried Zaha is still unavailable.

Eddie Howe has no fresh injury concerns ahead of Bournemouth’s home meeting with Manchester City, although Simon Francis and Junior Stanislas remain sidelined. Jermain Defoe played 90 minutes in midweek and is in contention to make his first Premier League start for the Cherries.

David Wagner has no fresh injury concerns ahead of the home meeting against Southampton. Latest signings Abdelhamid Sabiri and Florent Hadergjonaj are unlikely to be considered for starts.

Southampton boss Mauricio Pellegrino will decide today whether new signing Wesley Hoedt will feature for the trip to the John Smith’s Stadium. Mario Lemina is a slight doubt due to a shin injury.

Slaven Bilic will have Manuel Lanzini and Cheikhou Kouyate available for the trip to Newcastle United. Marko Arnautovic is suspended, while Winston Reid (calf) is also out. Andy Carroll has returned to training following a hip injury, but may have to wait until after the international break for a first-team return.

Watford trio Daryl Janmaat, Younes Kaboul and Roberto Pereyra remain out for the visit of Brighton & Hove Albion to Vicarage Road, while Jose Holebas misses out due to suspension. Craig Cathcart is nearing full fitness, and could feature for the Hornets.

Chris Hughton will again be without the injured Izzy Brown (hamstring) for the trip to Watford, but Glenn Murray is expected to shake off a minor ankle problem. Club-record signing Jose Izquierdo will be included in the match-day squad.

Wes Morgan, Jamie Vardy, Danny Drinkwater and Nampalys Mendy have all trained fully ahead of the trip to Manchester United, while Harry Maguire (knock) and Kelechi Iheanacho (toe) are being monitored. The pair should be available though, with Robert Huth and Vicente Iborra likely to be the only absentees.

Jonny Evans (hamstring) is expected to miss West Bromwich Albion’s home encounter against Stoke City, while James Morrison will be assessed after returning from injury in midweek. Claudio Yacob (hamstring) is a slight doubt, but Gareth McAuley (thigh) remains sidelined. Head coach Tony Pulis will assess the fitness of new signing Oliver Burke today to see whether the midfielder can play a part on Sunday.

For the Potters, Xherdan Shaqiri is Mark Hughes’ only injury concern. The Swiss international was forced off with a hamstring problem against Arsenal last weekend, with the Stoke boss admitting they won’t take any risks with the playmaker.

All this and more has now been updated in the Team News section ahead of tomorrow’s deadline. Keep an eye on our official Twitter Stream for breaking news – as the day unfolds, we will issue updates from Friday’s press conferences and refresh our Team News tab accordingly to keep you informed.

Soon to start the disgraceful show in which clubs are moved in different groups than the ones in which they were drawn, because of TV broadcasting.

Here we go! I don't even ask why they jumped over Lyon and København and put Bate and the Romanian club against Arsenal and Plzen.

they jumped because there was already english and a russian club in 2nd part of groups...A-E is 1st half... F-L is the 2nd part

You're saying they jumped for absolutely idiotic reasons?

UEFA is artificially creating a group of death of the group E. Lyon, Everton and Atalanta so far. Lyon is the only one drawn in order there (obviously, the first pot was drawn in the actual order). Everton was drawn 2nd last of all pot 2 clubs, but that place was kept empty for it, Atalanta was drawn 6th from pot 3 (the for some reason put Hapoel to Plzen group).

Again, for some reason FC Lugano wasn't good enough to that group, so it was instead put to Plzen group. Same Belgrad Red Star. Go play Arsenal, you're not big enough to the group of death.

Finally drew Apollon Limassol and thought, yeah, f-it, let's just put them to that group.

Huh? Is this actually a thing or is it just a quirk of UEFA's zany co-efficient system?

      1. Camp No No

It has nothing to do with the co-efficient system.

They are put in pots by the co-efficient system. Then the order in which they are drawn is manipulated for some completely different reasons that apparently have to do with TV broadcasting.

I have no idea why Konyaspor couldn't play in the København group though.

Lyon, Everton, and Atalanta will find EL a surprisingly great burden, instead of the chance to play the bench that it will be for their rivals Marseille, Arsenal, and AC Milan.

Or then they will play reserves against each other. Could be interesting. Everton squad is quite wide, and Lyon has outstanding youth academy. I recall last time they played European competition with youngsters, that gave us Fekir. Maybe Aouar to break through this time. Not sure if Atalanta has depth though, but it will be a tactically interesting team to watch in any case.

If they all take this seriously, it will be even better, but of course a great hindrance to their domestic campaigns. I think Everton can afford it the best, since they're basically playing just the 7th place which is worth just another try in EL.

Lyon is definitely aiming a straight CL place in France, so they will not be happy to rotate in the league. Atalanta also has decent chances to win a CL qualifier spot, and probably won't be happy to sacrifice Serie A for EL.

Difficult to know what mids will start every week. De Bruyne starting slowly in attacking sense. A lot of attackers including FBs swilling from FPL points trough.

        PVA
        Stones
Britos ----- my preferred route as I'd like to bank an extra .5
        Jones

Have Dawson and Foster. So dont see Hegazi as an option.

    A) Alonso, Jones, Lowe/Fernandez, Richarlison, Mooy, Firmino (3-4-3)
    B) Jones, Cedric, Lowe/Fernandez, Richarlison, Salah, Chicharito (3-4-3)
    C) Trippier, Jones, Cedric, Hegazi, Mane, Chicharito (4-3-3)

Rest of the 11 is Kane, Lukaku, Eriksen, Mkhi and Foster

Looks very attacking and classed as a midfielder. Only 6m.

Apparently looked really good for Watford last week and has some craaaazy stats for SiB. Home to BHA this week. He's worth a punt IMO.

Hello Rupert nice to see you.. Richarlison Brazilian 20 years of age speaks fluent football and bloody hell he can play ..everyone thinks he could be a new cpoue from last year and the believe in marco silva is getting stronger also, this guy got crazy stats for the 1.5 games he played ... i guess thats the reason .. hahahah have a nice one happy tinkering..

he had 8 shots but majority in 1 game?

he played midweek and didn't do jot. Maybe the opponents he played are prone to conceding loads of shots rather than him being amazing

    A) Play JWP
    B) Play Cedric
    C) JWP > Richiarlson (for a hit)

Thinking C, cos he who dares, Rodney, he who dares

Hey everyone. I would love some advice on what to do before this weekend.

    My team is as follows:
DDG - TAA, Holding, Rosenior, Stephens, Mee - Carroll, KdB, Salah, Fraser, Willian - Kane, Lukaku, Mounie.

I need to do something in defence and Holding is leaving my team. But am also considering a hit, considering weak midfield and weak defence (potentially not enough defenders). Should I take a hit to get out a midfielder, or take out a defender (e.g. Rosenior)? 1.5 ITB.

Hope to get some feedback on this. Thank you.

Defender out for sure. TAA yellow flagged, Holding probably won't start, Rosenior won't play, Stephens under threat from Hoedt and Mee has a bad fixture.

I know this sounds a bit daft but the fact that Richarlison has been given the no. 11 shirt surely implies he's likely to be a first team player?
