The Gameweek 4 Team News

Jurgen Klopp confirms that Philippe Coutinho may be lacking match fitness for Liverpool’s trip to Man City. Kieran Trippier is available for Spurs’ clash with Everton but Stoke City look set to be without skipper Ryan Shawcross for the visit of Man United.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has conceded that Philippe Coutinho looks sharp in training after featuring for Brazil over the break. But the midfielder may need to build up his match sharpness ahead of tomorrow’s trip to Man City.

Arsene Wenger will check on late arrivals such as Alexis Sanchez and Aaron Ramsey following their international exploits, although it’s anticipated they’ll be available for selection for the home encounter with Bournemouth.

Eddie Howe revealed Simon Francis is expected to be back in contention for the trip to the Emirates following a hamstring injury.

Chris Hughton is expects strikers Tomer Hemed (thigh) and Glenn Murray (ankle) to be fit for Brighton’s home meeting with West Bromwich Albion.

Baggies head coach Tony Pulis has revealed that new arrivals Grzegorz Krychowiak and Kieran Gibbs are lacking match fitness, admitting he has a “big decision to make” about starting them. He also added there are one or two knocks in the squad, but didn’t reveal any names.

Everton boss Ronald Koeman has stated that Wayne Rooney will feature at home to Spurs. Jordan Pickford has recovered from the injury that forced him to withdraw from England duties.

Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino has confirmed that Kieran Trippier “is available” to face Everton, though new boy Serge Aurier is less certain to feature.

Southampton boss Mauricio Pellegrino has no injury concerns for the visit of Watford, with defender Virgil van Dijk now back training with the first-team squad.

Marco Silva revealed Younes Kaboul (leg), Daryl Janmaat (muscle problem) and Roberto Pereyra (groin) have all returned to training for Watford over the past few days, with the former two more likely to be available at St Mary’s.

Ryan Shawcross is set to miss Stoke City’s home encounter against Manchester United with a fresh back injury, while Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting will be assessed, having picked up a hamstring problem during the international break.

Swansea City head coach Paul Clement anticipates that new arrivals Wilfried Bony and Renato Sanches will both be involved against Newcastle United. Jordan Ayew has recovered from illness.

And Eden Hazard could be set for his first league appearance of the season as Chelsea make their way to Leicester – the winger played 91 minutes for Belgium over the break after finally recovering from an ankle complaint.

All this and more has now been updated in the Team News section ahead of tomorrow’s deadline. Keep an eye on our official Twitter Stream for breaking news – as the day unfolds, we will issue updates from Friday’s press conferences and refresh our Team News tab accordingly to keep you informed.

I think it'll be a fixture trumps form Arsenal player with Bellerin or Ozil set to create shock and awe in the FPL transfer market next week following their hauls.

Is Brady a differential? That Palace stat on chances conceded from corners and Brady's seemingly monopoly on them for Burnley add up to pts to me.

        Tiny ownership - so yes.

Differential can be either low owned or a player that is not widely expected to do well.

I have no doubt that he'll find a way into everyone's teams soon enough, but I just can't take the risk right now as there's no one in my team I want to remove for him. Plus it will involve a hit, which I always try to avoid.

I agree on burnley as a differential: brady, vokes, wood could do sth. However after losing at home last time out, they'll be v concerned about not conceding i.e. could be another low-scoring game there.

Id venture watford ... They need a result ahead of a heavy run of fixtures. South are not as good in the centre of defence as they are on the wings ... The power of gray or strong running of doucoure down the middle might cause them problems ... richarlisons stats are good, dont know much abt him tho.

Some WC-dilemmas I would love to hear your insight on:

What are people's thought on Atsu as a 4th midfielder? Especially if you compare him to Ritchie who is 0.9 more expansive (I own Ritchie at the moment). Are there other alternatives in the 5 to 6m bracket that look better than both of these?

What do you think about a dobbel from WBA (Foster and Dawson) vs a dobbel from Southampton (Cédric and Bertrand) at the back? Is it too much?

Do you think a defence that costs 26m+ is too much (obviously Alonso is in here)?

In the end, who would you choose between Pogba and Mkhitaryan? Should you go for the safer option of Pogba, or is the higher potential ceiling of Mkhitaryan worth it? If Pogba is on penalties combined with playing basically 90 minutes each GW, is he the only sensible option?

Who is deemed as the best 4.5m option in the midfield now? Still Carroll? RLC? Chalobah?

Who would you chose from Alli and Eriksen? With Alli being banned for the first three CL games, is he the most secure option, or does the lack of bonus points (which is one of Eriksen's strengths) put you off him?

    1. I Member
      • 8 Years

Brady is the best of the lot in that bracket. Great stats, great home fixtures.

If I was going to double up it would be on Southampton.

      Not a problem.

If Pogba is on penalties I think he's the better pick but we don't know if he is. Both are excellent options, can't really go wrong with either.

I'm worried about rotation for Carroll now that Sanches has joined. Would go RLC or Chalobah.

Same as Pogba and Mkhitaryan, there's no right answer. Choose one and stick with them. Both will score well.

      I think I'm going template forward line of F K L

Atsu and Brady as 4th and 5th.

Treble Spurs, 2 Pool, a decent defence of 3 x 5M starters. Throw in Naughton, maybe with rangel or a punt on TAA as a 4.5.

I feel like I have been on a WC for about 6 weeks...

Going for Brady as 4th mid myself.

Have double WBA right now but Dawson is a placeholder for a Everton-defender in a couple of weeks.

Don't think 26+ is too much with Alonso.

Going for the Pogba and Lukaku double-up.

Would go for Eriksen because of set-pieces.

that won't be too bad, I'd like Moses to start against Arsenal

Hopefully Cahill will be rusty after his ban too

Thoughts on my WC team? Have 1.1 ITB to spend or keep

    Foster (Elliot)

Alonso - Davies - Bertrand - Naughton (Mee)

Alli - Salah - Pogba - Brady (Carroll)

    Kane - Firmino (Abraham)

Naughton and Mee don't rotate too well. Consider Dunk or another 4.5

They seem to have improved with goalscoring. And other people from low scoring teams like Abraham also seem to be pretty popular

They've scored 4 already with two of their games being against Chelsea and Spurs, looks promising enough for a 5.5m mid.

They played Chelsea who had 9 men and Chelsea still scored two. Burnley did nothing against Spurs and snuck one at the death.

Basically there are no standout options in that bracket and he is the flavour of the week. Wood is an upgrade up-top so you would think that could help with assists and being on set pieces gives him the edge over others like Jese or Richarlison; who we are all waiting on. Better option than Atsu too.

Any fellow wildcards going to bring in Sanchez this week? I'm so, so tempted.

It would mean going Sanchez + Firmino instead of Alli + Lukaku however, and it would be very risky going with no Lukaku at his ownership figures and the price rises making it more expensive to get him back.

go with Lukaku and Alli. I also think Sanchez will explode soon, and what better game than at home to Bornemouth? Problem is many uncertainties at Arsenal

Could argue now is the time to take the risk because you would have plenty of time to rectify? I would much rather Alli and Lukaku though.
