Aguero Injured in Car Accident

Reports surfacing this morning from Argentina have stated that Manchester City’s Sergio Aguero has been involved in a car accident and will face up to three months on the sidelines.

City have since confirmed the accident and have issued a statement indicating that the player is due back at the club for assessment prior to the weekend meeting with Chelsea. No details of his confirmed injuries are offered up at this stage, although a press conference today will surely shed light on the situation.

Aguero is said to have suffered a fractured rib having been a passenger in a taxi en route to the airport in Amsterdam when the vehicle lost control and struck a column on the side of the road.

Sources in Argentina have already said that the striker could miss six to eight weeks due to the injury, which would obviously rule him out of the Gameweek 7 clash and Argentina’s World Cup qualifiers to follow.

Notably, Independiente, Aguero’s former club, wished the striker a “speedy recovery” on social media.

The news will come as a major shock and blow to Manchester City who only yesterday confirmed that left-back Benjamin Mendy had suffered a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament injury in the win over Crystal Palace.

Aguero was in superb form having struck a recent hat-trick at Watford in Gameweek 5, followed by an 11-point return with a goal and an assist against Palace last time out.

That form had triggered a huge rush of interest from Fantasy Premier League managers who had made Aguero the single biggest bandwagon of the season following his 20-point haul at Vicarage Road. Over 770,000 FPL managers swooped ahead of Gameweek 6.

The striker is currently part of 1.3 million squads, with his owners now waiting on further confirmation before doubtless moving to replace Aguero.

Gabriel Jesus – who was omitted from the Gameweek 6 line-up by manager Pep Guardiola – would seem assured of regular starts in the central striker role should Aguero’s injury be confirmed.

Equally, Raheem Sterling’s stock as a 7.9 midfield option would rise given his recent form, with continued starts more likely.

It’s an incredible twist of events that could de-rail Aguero and maybe City’s early season form. The timing coincides exactly with last season’s slump which followed ten successive victories.

We can only join in wishing Aguero a safe and quick recovery.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Lousy on Kun that this has happened, especially given his current form and injury history.

I brought in Jesus last week as I couldn't afford Kun and was cursing myself for not taking the hit to get Kun in. Looks like a transfer saved this week.

We get so worked up over a bloody game and then stuff like this happens. Funny old world. Speedy recovery Kun Aguero

Watching the WBA game he was to the right of Laca with Alexis to the left in a 343. Not sure what Ozil's return will do but with him resting in the EL I'm confident of some returns in the next 4 GW's against BHA wat eve SWA

To all these thinking of playing their WC over the break with no major issues in their team but just to catch price rises and because every other persons seems to do it, DON't do it if you are not sure
these last years I always played it in december and it definitly help me to have a far greater december/january/february than mini leagues rivals (whereas added value of their WC in October was not so good). I usually fix things with -4 most of weeks (this strategy was good last year as I finished 3k ! the year before 200k without taking too many hits; then of course this year this strategy could be a mistake).
I discovered this forum this year and I am addicted to it, but since i'm reading it I am stressed every week not to play my wildcard !! so I have to keep calm
my big issue atm is Abraham third striker and will like to fit Vardy but this will need too much surgery therefore a WC (have Kane/Kaku currently before Kaku Jesus and then Kane Jesus) so I will be risking to keep Abraham for now

Got three choices to deal with this Aguero Injury. Other strikers are Lukaku and Lacazette.
      a) Aguero > Morata with my FT.
      b) Aguero & Daniels > Kane & Mbemba for a -4.
      c) Bench Aguero and play Brady, and then do (b) this weekend without the hit.

      Help!.... 🙁

      not my year

GW3 - take out Jesus (2 consecutive 1 pointers) and replace with Kane as part of a -8. Jesus gets 9 and 12 points his next 2 games. Kane gets me 2 points

GW4 - WC to mainly sort out defense. Take out Kane and replace with Laca. Laca gets 6 points Kane 13 points

GW5 - so peeved by my 47point WC I do a -4 to get Kane and Davies in for Lukaku and Alonso. Davies doesn't play, Kane gets 2pts. Lukaku 12points Alonso 6pts

GW6- I do a -8 to get Kun in for Laca. Kun 11pts Laca. 13points.

I swore I'd save my FT for GW7 no matter what even before the failure commenced. But then..

      1. Quaner flagged before GW5 commences... no biggie he's last on my bench and fodder
      2. Chabolah not in Watfords line up, later yellow and then red flagged. Ah no problem he's a benchy too. I'll still hold.
      3. Wait What? Phil Jones has many doubts, what the heck does that mean? Not going to crack even though the temptation is intense, and I'll still save my FT. Naughton playing isn't the worst.
      4. Kun in a car wreck.....I give up...FT will have to be used.

I'll likely bring in Jesus so you all may want to avoid!!!! Haha just not catching a break!
