Technical Area – The Rise of Ben Davies

It’s been quite a start to the season for Ben Davies. Currently leading all defenders in terms of points with 49 – a number which trails only Sergio Aguero and Romelu Lukaku at any position – the Welshman’s form is inarguable.

In the six matches in which he has featured (Davies was rested for Spurs’ home encounter with Swansea in Gameweek 5), he has returned an average of 8.2 points per match (ppm) – more than a point clear of his closest rival (Antonio Valencia’s 6.7).

Last season, Davies performed admirably while deputising for the injured Danny Rose – racking up a goal and three assists, in addition to his share of Spurs’ league-leading clean sheet total. However, his attacking returns this campaign (two goals, three assists) have already exceeded last season’s totals in just 30% of the minutes.

In order to better interpret this attacking leap, we’ll be breaking down Davies’ early-season heroics, and looking for players who might serve as good benchmarks for projecting the Welshman’s performance over the remainder of the campaign.

Looks 50/50. Brazil look like they are going through the motions, Bolivia playing for pride.

I would go for it as Brazil still fielded a strong team

You can cover yourself a bit, Bolivia are 5/1 to win I play, so do the maths and mix it up on the draw and home win. You will be able to make more than the cash out if you play it right.

I have stones but thinking of changing to otamendi. when both of them are playing they will score similarly but when kompany comes back one may be dropped and if will be easier to drop to stones than try and find the extra .2 for otamendi.

having said that if they were both nailed and the same price I would prefer stones

For those that have missed Davies' price rises, would you still go for him? I've got Trippier right now and while I have full faith in him the fear of him getting reseted for Aurier is nagging at me (although I am convinced that Trippier's first choice)

    B)Vardy + Hazard + Alonso

Everyone should have Lukaku because of ownership levels but Man U have 3/4 bad fixtures and Liverpool the next 2 so not sure how A is good option

"Gareth Southgate to receive a £250,000 bonus after England qualify for the World Cup"

Richly deserved! Hopefully another 250k if he goes unbeaten through the qualifiers.

Glad to share your opinions here please.
3 top heavy upfront and 4 heavy back makes the mid line weak.
As i see though,Alonso,Davies, Kola and 3 front are season keepers.
    What would you change here?

    --Elliot
    --Alonso--Davies--Kola--Jones
    --Silva--Richie--Gross
    --Kane--Luk--Jesus
    ///Foster///Suttner///Chalobah///King

    1.0itb. Wc used.
    a) Downgrade Kola and Suttner and bring in Coutinho/Salah for Richie.
    b) upgrade Suttner to Otamendi and leave mid as it is.

    Thanks guys.

B and rotate your mids, in a 523, gonna be difficult to shift things around in midfield without a few hits with the structure of your team

Lol, trust England to make you waver on a transfer, just have to remember that 1.Southgate doesn't know what he's doing 2. Players turn to rubbish in an England shirt. Mkhi to Sterling for a hit has to be done given fixtures, and Mkhi faltering

For me I would not make move

Got Cedric and Tadic in my squad. Two players who has been (very) dissapointing, but got this schedule: NEW, WBA, bri, BUR

Would you get rid of one of them for a hit?

    Yes/no (If yes who?)

I think "ownership" is fast making a claim for dumbest concept over "cover". I might sell Lukaku just because of this.

Explosive, highly owned plus highly captained = big worry if they explode and you don't own them if your picks don't do well, massive point swing. Kane & Lukaku fall into this category.

True, just depends if you're willing to take the risk. I'm not, I'd rather take risks elsewhere and have the two best captain options in the game in my side

I can understand the case where the highest owned is the standout captain option, but I don't think Lukaku is close to that for the next four weeks at least. My biggest reason for keeping him would simply be that I got him at 11.5 but that seems so negative!

For 11.5 u can get someone else who has better fixtures.

I agree. I never pay attention to it for ownership or captaincy. I just pick (and captain) the players I think will score the most points. Oddly enough, choosing players who will score points works quite well 🙂
