Technical Area – The Man City Midfield

Through the first two months of the season, no side has scored more frequently than Manchester City.

In their second season under Pep Guardiola’s tutelage, City have averaged more than three goals per match to open this campaign and already look to be mounting the strongest title challenge on show.

With Sergio Aguero and Gabriel Jesus as options in attack, we are blessed with two obvious routes to investment. However, reading Pep Guardiola’s intentions with the pair remains a test, made all the more difficult by the news of Aguero’s return to light training following his rib injury.

Just as Gabriel Jesus seemed cemented in the central attacking role, suddenly Aguero’s return seems more imminent, casting further doubts on the likely minutes of the pair over forthcoming Gameweeks.

So, instead, our attentions are drawn to City’s midfield in an effort to achieve coverage of this potent attacking unit while we wait for the striker situation to resolve.

In this article, we’ll be running the rule over three mid-priced Manchester City midfield options – David Silva, Leroy Sane and Raheem Sterling – alongside the more expensive Kevin De Bruyne, in an effort to ascertain where best to seek value from this side over the coming Gameweeks.

Thoughts on WC team. Do much differently?

    ------------------De Gea--------------

    -Kolasinac - Davies - Alonso - Mee-

    ------Coutinho - Silva - Carroll-----

    --------Kane (c) - Lukaku - Vardy-----

    Subs: Elliot - Surman, Loftus-Cheek - Rangel

Abraham because of better fixtures but don't expect too much from either. If you choose to go with 2 big forwards, I would choose the cheapest 3rd striker to upgrade the rest of your team. Not much value add in the 5-8.5m bracket imo.

    A) Coutinho > Sterling

    D) Save FT, which doesn't look like a bad option

Cout. I'd enjoy owning and watching him more than Alli I think. Alli is like a Ramsey who plays farther forward. He turns up late to pop the ball wide. Whereas Coutinho makes things happen, like a slightly more dainty Sanchez

Cal-Lew seems a bit light, Haz a great pick though. I can't find the funds to get him in..

How nailed on is cuco martina?

Played the last 4 games 1 for 75 minutes

A playing Everton defender at 4.3 is a good option even if as 5th defender

Really excited for my team's GW8 fixtures (no WC). Hoping for a good week for Chelsea, Arsenal and Swansea!
