FFS Cups – Entry Now Open

Fantasy Football Scout are delighted to announce our Fantasy Premier League Cup competitions.

We are launching our 15th open-to-all tournament, along with an eighth competition for Members. Both tournaments have £300 in prizes on offer.

Members can sign up to both tournaments, via entry forms here and here.

The roll call of former cup winners looks like this: donnellyc, Jonty, Gribude, Goonerdave, Ninja_Fit_Saints, sleeping master, Mch, Wild Rover, Tdubb05 , CMIFLFC, Mark, Leon Harris, A Manager Has No Name and our reigning champion, Sleepysi.

As former winners, those listed will gain a bye to the first round of the tournament should they enter with the same username.

In our Members Cup, our winners list is as follows:

Waltzingmatildas, Fuzzy Dunlop, Kippax Kickers Acquafresca, Trigg Ola Svanheld and the current champion, Malaikat Jahad.

Again, those listed above will gain a bye to the first round proper of the Members Cup should they enter with the username listed.

If you’re new to our cup competitions, read on for an FAQ, offering all the details.

How do the Cup Competitions Work?

The FFS Cup is very similar to the Fantasy Premier League’s own Fantasy Cup game.

Entrants who qualify for the first round will be randomly drawn against each other and the winner of the tie is whoever has the highest score from that Gameweek, minus points spent on transfers (like in the original game and in head-to-head scores).

In the event of a tie, the manager highest in the overall FPL rankings after the tie will progress.

When do they start?

The qualifying round for the Fantasy Football Scout Cup will take place in Gameweek 15, with the first round poper running in Gameweek 16.

Fantasy managers can enter their teams from now right up to 10.30am on Monday December 4, when we’ll stop entries and make the first round draws shortly after.

The qualifying round for the Members Cup will take place week later in Gameweek 16, with the first round running in Gameweek 17.

Fantasy managers can enter their teams from now right up to 10.30am on Monday December 11, when we’ll stop entries and make the first round draws shortly after.

Previous winners must enter with the same usernames listed above to gain their bye.

How do I enter?

Enter the open-to-all FFS Cup via the entry form here.

Enter the FFS Members Cup via the entry form here. This form is only visible to Members and you will need to log into the Members’ area to view the form.

You will be sent a confirmation email to verify your entry and you’ll be asked to confirm your FPL team id at the point of entry – please be sure to click the link to verify that your team is correct before confirming. If you FPL team is incorrectly entered, we cannot amend this at a later date.

You entry is only completed once you have confirmed your FPL team Id as part of the process.

To check that you’re entered correctly, please scan the list of entries.

The open-to-all FFS Cup list is here.

The Members FFS Cup list is here.

How do I find my FPL team Id?

Your FPL Id is your unique Id for your FPL team. This is found via your Gameweek History page – the link to which is found in the right hand menu under your FPL team strip. When you visit your Gameweek History you will see a number in the URL (as opposed to the XXX below).

https://fantasy.premierleague.com/a/entry/XXX/history

Place this 1-7 digit number, or your Gameweek History URL, in the FPL id field on the entry form.

When will I find out if I’ve qualified?

Results from the Fantasy Football Scout Cup qualifying round will be published shortly after December 4 and then weekly, after the completion of each Gameweek, from that point on.

Results from the Members Cup qualifying round will be published shortly after December 11 and then weekly, after the completion of each Gameweek, from that point on.

Hey guys, I own Sterling and Aguero, what do you think is the best move for me this week?

Difficult to say without seeing the rest of the Team. Perhaps Aguero -> Lukaku/Morata.

Aguero to Kane if youve not got him otherwise Sterling to Sane

I think getting rid of Aguero would be the priority because Sterling has come off the bench to good effect

      Sorry, here's my team:

      Pope - Speroni

      Daniels - Lowton - Moreno - Duffy - Hunemier

      Salah - Sterling - Richarlison - Zaha - RLC

      Aguero - Kane - Morata

Wauw. Or gk's and midfield are almost identical. I've got Wilson instead of Kün and Silva instead of RLC. And Azpi in defense where you might want to upgrade. So i'd downgrade Kün this week to a playing striker and upgrade defense next week.

Kun to Jesus to avoid two benchings.

Any thoughts chaps? Was sold on Sterling -> Pogba and working towards a 3-5-2 with Azpilicueta and Gross but Jones' injury has put a spanner in the works! 1 FT, 0.3 in the bank...

    De Gea
    Daniels, Mee, Mariappa
    Salah, Sterling, Silva, Richarlison
    Morata, Kane, Vardy

    (Elliot, RLC, Hegazi, JONES)

    A) Sterling -> Pogba
    B) Jones & Vardy -> Otamendi/Azpiliceuta & Quaner (3-5-2) (-4)
    C) RLC & Vardy -> Pogba & Quaner (3-5-2) (-4)

    Cheers..

Afternoon folks, hope all are well

Any thoughts on the best use of my FT?

    A) Jones > otamendi
    B) Tammy > Wilson

A means playing 352 with RLC, B means 343 with Dann

Hey guys - pretty torn between a couple of options here...

    Elliot Speroni
    Otamendi Jones Dunk Yedlin Mee
    Salah Sane Richarlison Gross TCarroll
    Kane Aguero Morata

    2FT 0.0ITB

I'm thinking Aguero to Niasse/DCL for 1 of my frees, and then either:

    A) TC to Pogba this week, Jones -> Alonso GW14. Leaves 1.5 ITB at current prices
    B) Gross to Hazard this week, Jones -> Alonso GW14. Leaves 0.2 ITB at current prices

    A) means a stronger squad but without Haz, B) means I get Haz but I still have my TC problem.

Would really appreciate any thoughts - thanks in advance!

How many frees do you have? I'm assuming you wouldn't play Mee this week if you did bring him in?

The only time he's come off the bench was when it was 1-1 vs Bournemouth. It ain't gonna be that vs hudds, let's be realistic. He's no spring chicken like Jesus. I reckon he'd be fine sharing the load. Coming off early in the home games as he has done last two-less so.

I need to ship Kun; however, my problem is that I can't see any particularly attractive alternatives. I want to downgrade, but who to?

Tammy is a doubt and misses the week after this

Callum Wilson will surely be rotated having just come back from a SECOND cruciate ligament

Niasse has been banned for two games

Firmino's form has been patchy and he's a bit too unselfish

Are there any particularly viable alternatives? I meant end up switching to Kaku at this rate but I'm not particularly convinced of his value

I have Aguero, also...And Morata and Kane. IMO, our best option is patience and to hold, yet it is very difficult to do. The groundswell on these forums is to sell, and rationale is basically uncertainty over starts and related frustration. However, you are reasoning out the alternatives:

      - Downgrading options are limited, and have their own drawbacks (injury, susceptibility to injury, suspension)
      - Aguero may play against Huddersfield after 5 days of rest and do quite well
      - Aguero will likely play significant minutes in the next two home games
      - Man City score more goals than any other team, and over the course of the next 3 gw's, it is not far-fetched to see Aguero put up more forward points than any of the other high-priced forward. Or, as many points as the popular quasi-replacement, Hazard.

This is a tricky scenario, and even trickier when it involves hits. I don't know if I have the fortitude to hold Aguero through this uncertainty, yet my brain is telling me that a decent bench is really the only thing to worry about if he does not start, and if he does start, he may very well outscore the alternatives and represent a good differentiator.

Cheers for the reply. I have the same forwards as yourself.

The problem is that Aguero 'may' play. If you're paying 11.5 you want someone who's pretty assured of starts. I don't have Sane or Pogba and they look like being much better value for money over the next 6 weeks.

You're right that on any one week he could do very well but long-term the right move is to sell.

We'd all want a striker in the 7-8m bracket popping up. He is in awful form this season but Palace do need start winning matches and playing better and better, so i'd think he is worth a punt.

Don't think so. Those that got him in before the ban, will do everything possible to absorb the error and not take a hit or planned for the possible ban to begin with.

    Long post Alert!

So I’m always one for crunching the numbers, looking at things like points per 90 minutes and which players have repeated involvement in 2+ goals per match (goal or assist) to see where the explosive players lie.

I’ve recently been looking at a new way of measuring players and thought I’d share it. It works off two things:

    1. Looking at a players points per 90 minutes. To do this I simply take the amount of points a player has, divide that by the minutes a player has played and then multiply that number by 90.

    2. We have a budget of 100.0, if a player is worth 10.0 they take up 10% of our budget, so if we take the number calculated in point 1 for this 10% of our budget player and times it by 10 to get to the 100% value of our squad it should tell us how valuable that player is to our squad in relation to his points per minutes along with his value.

I’ve excluded and player with less than 360 minutes played (4 x 90 mins) as they skew the figures slightly, I’ll separate out by position. The number doesn’t mean too much apart from the higher number the better:

    Goalkeepers
    Pope - 133.98
    Lössl - 101.45
    de Gea - 97.71
    Fabianski - 86.96
    Forster - 86.61
    Courtois - 81.8
    Begovic - 81.49
    Elliot - 81.35
    Ryan - 79.63
    Schmeichel - 78.34

    Defenders
    Mustafi - 125.79
    Davies - 117.87
    Jones - 108.12
    Trippier - 107.02
    Ward - 102.62
    Yoshida - 102.23
    Gomez - 97.7
    Löwe - 95.98
    Bailly - 94.27
    Lowton - 92.4

    Midfielders
    Fellaini - 156.86
    Martial - 142.53
    Pogba - 112.77
    Sterling - 108.45
    Sané - 104.99
    Groß - 103.42
    Izquierdo - 97.21
    Gray - 94.73
    Coutinho - 91.24
    Richarlison - 89.6

    Forwards
    Niasse - 186.21
    Vokes - 117.81
    Hemed - 111.2
    Okazaki - 106.52
    Murray - 96.81
    Agüero - 85.62
    Welbeck - 77.73
    Wood - 77.57
    Jesus - 77.25
    Abraham - 76.85

If you just look at the points per 90 mins then Kane comes out in 18th out of all players and Lukaku in 29th.

The point is when you relate that back to their price they aren't yet performing at the levels needed for a player costing that much.

I like the simple p90 format more. Values will range from 0.55 to around 0.9 (the higher the better obviously)

The problem as always is the small sample size.

RE: So I’m always one for crunching the numbers, looking at things like points per 90 minutes and which players have repeated involvement in 2+ goals per match (goal or assist) to see where the explosive players lie."

How do you conclude from these numbers which players have repeated involvement in 2+ goals per match ?

For example Jones is 3rd in your defender rank and he hasn't scored any goals

      1. Reckoner.
        • 12 Years
        6 years, 6 months ago

The first bit is a intro, doesn't relate to the numbers I show below.

But when I am looking at the repeated involvement in 2+ goals per match I look at a player, say Sane. He's been involved in 2+ goals (goals or assist) in 5 matches (one of them was involved in 5).

I then compare to other players to see how explosive his is. Also sometimes relate back to minutes to get an idea of how often he's involved in 2+ goals in a game.

Eriksen has been a fpl legend for me, but he isn't looking good fantasy wise for now despite fixtures. Plays too deep for my liking and his crosses have been poor, also Trippier starting to take over his set-piece duties.

I really want Sane, but my only way getting him is by selling Eriksen for a -4. Is that move worth it if I would captain him this week?

Compare his average positions in GWs 9-12 to the rest of the season and it's clear that he is playing deeper.
