FFS Cup

Fantasy Football Scout Cup – Third Round Draw

Following an exceptionally high scoring second round there are now no former winners left in our open-to-all Fantasy Premier League Cup competition.

All four ex-champions to survive the first round departed at the second stage, which took place during Gameweek 31’s limited set of fixtures.

Reigning champion TH14 was seen off 85-82 by Ilovebaps , A Manager Has No Name was beaten 107-100 by horlicks esq, MCH succumbed to The dinkum donuts 82-78 and Wild Rover failed to overcome Gloria Kanchelskis in their 86-81 clash.

Despite just four matches taking place in Gameweek 31, there were 41 managers who returned a minimum of 100 points.

The second round’s highest scoring was dmcqt. He notched 128 points, rockets from 28,412nd to 7,475th in the overall rankings and earns a round three encounter with 232,058-placed The Brown Casanova.

Despite dipping ten places overall to 48th, thisisdiz remains the highest ranked manager. Norman conquest (rank 69,117) is the unfortunate manager to draw this high-flyer in the third round.

Another notable round three match up is 7,845-ranked hwhite94’s tie with the competition’s second-highest placed manager, Always Captain Kun, who is in 63rd spot.

Elsewhere, 43,939-ranked 2 Girls 1 Shlup’s giant killing skills will be put to test once again, when he meets 1,561st ranked Dharmabum. He made it through to the third round by defeating FFScout’s 3,941-placed tech guru matzi11a in the second round and after seeing off former champion Gooner Dave in round one.

The full second round results can be found here, while the third round draw can be found here.

Probably that means that Chelsea won't have a double gw in gw34?

I just don't think they will play 3 games in a week.

The broadcasters will decide this. It's not exactly uncommon for teams to play 3 games in a week

What with a game scheduled for every weekend until the end of the season and 2 more to schedule in I think that'll be quite hard to avoid.

Cheslea have 2 games to be rescheduled so unless they are planning to schedule it to some other week it has to be in 34 & 37.

Likely a very dull question but -

Which Burnley and Swansea defs are the ones to go for?

    Once from -

    BURNLEY - Lowton -- Tark -- Ward

    SWANSEA - Fernandez -- VDH -- Naughton

    Thanks

I'm on Lowton and Fernandez. Lowton because he's cheap, and Fernandez because I have him already and he cost me 4.4m

Hmm yeah good point. I'm free hitting in 35 which only gives me 1 FT in 36 and want Vertongen and Kane but will need to find an extra 2 million for that. Might have to downgrade someone in 34 or go without Vertongen. Thanks for your help you've really got me thinking.

Yes I got some good ones. Auto focus went after about 20 minutes which was incredibly annoying as sport photography isn’t possible with out it.
The best shots were of Peter pulling Phil Jones faces every time he went in for a tackle.

Oh dear - that sort of thing makes you feel sick. Why are some people such *****? (insert favourite expletive here). Rotten luck for you.

My daughter says "a big thank you for the sponsorship". She recommends doing something that involves lots of people. She ran a big cake sale at her school. Can you rope in your work contacts? For myself I reckon FFS is potentially a great source.

Yes, everyone at work will donate which is great, but the money from my lens was going to the charity. I don’t think this sod knows or actually cares about the sort of impact he makes on people.

I always wait for money to clear first and take it out of account before sending goods.
Paypal have been known to refund false claims of non received goods before without asking the seller.
I am assuming you got the payment and then he claimed it back, I would have thought paypal are then liable

            No.
It was my first time selling on eBay and it’s as if he could smell that.
He set up an address fronting as PayPal. The premise was basically send the item and get a tracking number. Email PayPal the tracking number and then the money he has sent which is being held by PayPal will be released automatically. This now with hindsight is obviously not how it works. Wish I’d have asked on here first but it all seemed above board.

I've had Maguire for the last several weeks and he has done nothing. Steering clear of Leicester defence. But maybe you will be lucky and get him at the right time

Like Hotdogs for Tea in the Legomane post says, WC in GW 32 is okay and even I may yet do it but pressing the button before knowing the fixtures may come back to bite a few.

Waiting for the drama to unfold. 😀

They could but the point still stands. Even if they somehow escape, it'd still be a folly on their part.

Who wildcards to catch a couple of price rises towards the end of the season? They could easily have waited to see the fixtures and then hit the button. They also know that price changes get stagnant in the IB.

They have been making the right choices and they have got to the top just like a President or a PM who wins the election but there's no guarantee that a proven PM or a President won't ever make a mistake.

Well the best poker players get there on merit and good decisions alone. They are there because they are the best decision makers. The same can't necessarily be said for politicians unfortunately.

At this point I feel like you are just arguing for the sake of arguing and aren't really pausing and considering that other people may know things that you don't or come to different conclusions that may actually be better than yours. I feel like whenever someone is typing something you immediately are looking for a counterpunch instead of just considering what they've said. I don't have any motivation to argue with someone that isn't open to the possibility of changing their view. I get the impression your mind is already made up so I'm done here

I think there are 3 categories:

              1) The people who were always going to WC GW32 because they always considered their legacy GW31 team was going to be “dross”
              2) The people who were never going to WC GW32 unless exceptional circumstances arose as they had already planned to WC at a later date
              3) The others

I think the third category are the only ones who are really affected by the fixture announcements in terms of WC timing, and I think the number of those in that category who have hit the WC trigger based on potentially false assumptions (which may not end up being false at all) is pretty small. I think your perceived mass hysteria and impact is a bit of a red herring tbh.

Yep, I'm in category 1. Don't care when they are announced. Or even if GWK 35 ends up featuring 20 matches or some other odd surprise.

There's no way I'm taking Niasse and Bauer into another GWK 🙂

                Agreed.

Everything may fall perfectly into place for those who have WCed.

But my point was not about whether to WC in 32 was correct or not. Like I have said many times in this post that I may even do it myself.

It's just that waiting to see the fixtures before hitting the button makes way more sense to me.

If someone has genuinely decided to wildcard in GW32 then there is literally no advantage to waiting before activating it. As soon as the gameweek deadline passes you start making transfers based on likely price changes.

You seem to be talking about a fictional group of managers who didn't know what to do so decided to activate the wildcard anyway.

Would a hit for Luka and Auba not suffice?

Then hit the WC later in the GW?

That way you just have some breathing space if things go tits up.

You are spending hours every day spouting nonsense about a highly theoretical situation. Chances are that you have wasted hours of your life scaremongering for nothing.

People that are using WC right now have wasted nothing. The teams with 2 DGWs, 1 DGW and 0 DGWs are the same regardless of the schedule. The people that are waiting to use their WC are the people that might be losing out, as you have less GWs to get points from your ideal team.

Ultimately there's only 4 different events that could happen. West Ham and Bournemouth can't have a DGW in the same week. Huddersfield and Burnley can't have a DGW in the same week. Arsenal and Swansea must have a DGW in the same week. City and Newcastle must have a DGW in the same week.

The first decision only affects Stanislas versus Arnautovic, two players around the same price.
The second decision affects when you would want to TC a Chelsea player.
The third decision affects when you want to bench boost.
The fourth decision is irrelevant. Both teams would have a bad DGW34 and a good DGW37.

We are still going to get 4 to 6 extra games in both GWs regardless of how they schedule the rest of the season.

My point still stands though. 😀

            What would you prefer?

            A. Take a hit to get in Lukaku and Auba and wait to hit WC when fixtures are released. (if you're so sure of WCing in 32)
            B. Hit the WC straightaway and go blind.

Would you want to carry 3 Swansea till GW 37 if the Swans have thier DGW in 37?

Stated this example as most WCs have 3 Swans and you said that your team would be the same irrespective of the fixture scheduling.

I think this is the main issue, sell a player because their double is not until 37 to spread sum cash and forego maybe .1 on value on the sale, then find out that the double is actually in 34 and you want to buy the guy back and it costs you that .1 more to get him. Or you sell and single game week player with a loss of value for a GW34 doubler, to find out that his fixture has been moved to 37 and you would rather a different player now that affects your budget planning etc. again losing a bit of value in the re-shuffle. I see lots of little issues really with the mix of the teams' doubles as they move from a perceived game week of 34 to 37, or vice versa.

Its not clicking on the WC that is the issue, its maybe shuffling the pack and then having to re-shuffle due to fixtures and losing bits of value here and there as a consequence.

If it was a free hit no problem, it is just like setting up your team before GW1, but you need to be a little careful 'experimenting' with your line-up as part of a WC because once you forego a bit of value you don't get it back if you change your mind and buy the player back.

I think most were eager to get in to the transfers and hopefully they are just generating examples of WC teams rather than selling a player with inherent loss of value, but will actually make most of the transfers after the fixtures have been set ... each to their own 🙂

This. I know which teams have an extra fixture to play and will not be uprooting my squad to get in three Lei***ter players, a couple of Swansea players etc. I have a balance and will use my FTs to maximise DGWs without replacing quality and proven players with a bottom half plodder just because they have a DGW

Might as well take the price risers and avoid drops. My current WC team is exact money, wouldn't have been able to afford it if I'd waite.

If the fixtures arent as expected, I can still change and nothing lost compared to hitting the WC button whenever they're announced.

Only Lukaku,Auba and Silva of DGW significance has risen in value and no significant falls.

You could have just taken a hit to get Auba and Lukaku now and waited for more info and then hit the Wc later. Don't think Silva is even desirable with all the rotation threat looming.

For me the timing is irrelevant. Made sense to wildcard now as my team was dead ended for GWK 31.

We know the teams that play twice and the teams that play twice, twice.

That means I know who I want to stock up on for the next seven fixtures.

Having a Free Hit Chip, BB and TC as well helps. I have to use them at some point and the timing of dgwks may effect that.

But in terms of players I don't need to know 'when' - as I have the 'who' part already.

Looking at going 3-4-3 over 3-5-2 initially with this setup:

    DDG,Fab
    Christensen,Robertson,Lowton,VDH,Morgan
    Salah,Mahrez,Son,Willian,King
    Aubameyang,Lukaku,Vardy

    3-5-2 is

Sort of depends how you think the Barnes-Wood thing works out. Both play up top, or just one. Wood is the better player, imo.

They both look good. Silva v Vardy essentially. I’d say B.

That’s it mate, I’m leaning towards Vardy.... Just because I think Silva will get rotated more with the league nearly wrapped up.

I think with Pope being in the England squad, Dyche might well stick with him to support his potential WC spot.

      Maybe.

Draft #1967. Template with some diffs.

    de Gea Fabianski
    Alonso Naughton Mariappa Tomkins Lowton
    Mahrez Salah Groß Son Arnautovic
    Barnes Firmino Aubameyang

Part of me thinks there is always a good idea to get in a differential that's playing for their summer move. Mane's form for Southampton 15/16 towards the end of the season putting himself in the shop window gets me thinking. Mahrez certainly is in that mould. Arnie might be that sort of player too.

    Any others?

i like the midfield a lot. godo to see arnie there. unfortunately that defence is too weak imo and i dont like barnes as a 3rd striker. nice try though 🙂

Yep falls down with the defence for sure I agree. If I could get Mustafi in or something it might look better.

The third striker spot I'm not feeling the J.Ayew love or the Andy King as a 5th mid slot. Barnes the best of a "bad" bunch. I still get the feeling Dyche is looking to finish as high as possible for the position cash prize and Burnley won't head to the beach early!

Weak TV this season has really set me back for the WC!
