One week until ‘Wasting Your Wildcard’ book release

We are delighted to announce there is just one week left until the official launch of Fantasy Football book ‘Wasting Your Wildcard‘.

Written by regular site contributor David Wardale and fully endorsed by Fantasy Football Scout, it will be released on Thursday July 26, to plug the painful gap between the end of the World Cup and start of the 2018/19 Premier League season.

Subtitled ‘The Method and Madness of Fantasy Football’, the book is being published by Penguin’s respected sports imprint, Yellow Jersey Press, and is packed with hints and tips from some of the best Fantasy managers out there.

But it is as much about the people as the game, with stories of glory and despair, mini-league skulduggery and humiliating failure and the strange grip the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) in particular has on managers from Australia to Zimbabwe and just about everywhere in between.

There are in-depth interviews with FPL champions and Fantasy-mad Saudi princes, a comprehensive look at the eternal conflict that is stats versus ‘the eye test’ and chapters on the history of the game, the all-conquering beast that is Fantasy Premier League (FPL) and what the future of Fantasy Football might look like.

There’s also a revealing section on our very own Mark, detailing the methods behind his successful approach to playing FPL.

Written by a fan for the fans, we think Wasting Your Wildcard will inform and entertain in equal measure, while grappling with the reasons behind why we, as supposedly grown-up men and women, cannot resist playing a game of footballing dress-up.

And to give you a taste of what you can expect, we’re planning to publish an exclusive extract for newsletter subscribers in the very near future.

add bennett from wolves - as things stands he is third centre back in the back 3. in a defensively sound team as well.

mid: not even considering 4.5 when there are so many options at 5.0

He's gonna be this seasons Doucoure - banging goals in for fun while sat at the end of your bench!

    A Ederson or
    B Alisson

as main goalie week in week out in new season with 4 m back up ( assuming Alisson priced same as Ederson at 5.5 m.) ?

Equal for me, so it comes down to which club you want to triple up on outfield.

Add to this list Maddison @ LEI, Lamela, Fabregas, Pedro

      Of those listed above
      - definitely Jota
      - Sessegnon if he's not at fullback
      - I'd get some Lamela in early doors

Good call with Maddison, though he's injured atm I think.

Early days but come up with this. Any input welcome!

    Ederson
    Robertson Tomkins Cedric
    Sane Siggy(!?) Mane Martial
    Aubu Aguero Zaha

    Boric Jag Chabaloha Wan-biassa

Not really hapy with Siggy (Belerin also) but looking for ideas

      Robertson is Bellerin

personally would use the Siggy money on someone else. You could get Ramsay for that money, or there are decent 6.5m midfielders (check my post just above yours) that I think are worth getting, then you could afford Robertson 😉

I think it will be McCarthy - played the whole second half of last season, and in both of their pre-season games so far he’s been fielded in the first half with the first choice defenders.
