The ScoutCast Episode 265 – Difference

This week the ScoutCast crew are determined to bust the myth that they share identical strategies.

Long-term maverick Luke returns to reveal his freshly Wildcarded team which bravely went into Gameweek 2 without Manchester City’s hat-trick hero Sergio Aguero and last season’s points-scoring sensation Mohamed Salah.

In stark contrast, Az is continuing his march up the rankings thanks to his faith in this premium pair, and his resolve in resisting broadsheet tittle-tattle hinting that the Argentinian would be dropped.

David is also beating a different drum and keen to explain the reasons behind his chequered FPL history and how his fortunes already look better this time around.

That leaves me as the only dullard representative, armed with a bunch of ownership statistics, a goals imminent table and a dubious ‘camping’ excuse to explain my recent poor captaincy decision.

Our differing views across a range of key issues facing Fantasy Premier League manages ahead of Gameweek 3 are aired.

Our assessment of Chelsea and Arsenal assets ahead of their favourable fixtures is top of our list. And we also ponder whether Spurs’ players can compete as assets this season and indulge in some bargain hunting up front.

This ScoutCast was first beamed live via our YouTube channel on Tuesday evening. Be sure to subscribe to get notice of future live episodes.

      Bench is gash.

For me you should always look to have 12 decent options instead of putting it all on a starting 11.

With Man City’s and Liverpool’s rotation headaches bench slot number 1 will be vital this season.

      1. palalmas
        • 13 Years

AWB is the 12. player (except this round), and Peliter and Kamara will also get a lot of minutes.

Not sure I agree Peltier plays depending on formation - so I’ve heard & Kamara the odd start and every other game 10mins.

I’d sack Fabianski to Hamer and have Foster set and forget. You’ve got .5 to upgrade Peltier then... if you can find another .5 then I’d do ings but just my opinion bro.

Thanks for feedback. As long as every big hitter score points, I can do something like that, but Im quite happy with the bench as it stand and probobly use my free transfer to change big hitters.

I think your bench is fine as it is as your bench players are as cheap as possible to get all the big hitters in your 1st 11. At this time of the season all players in your 1st 11 will play. Personally I would have ings for Kamara in or Alonso in for pva.

I’m sorry but that statement is ridiculous.

Rotation has already proven itself inside 2weeks you cannot say with any degree of certainty that his 11 will al play every week.

Gundogan at 5.5m ... talk to me people?

Surely only Fraser is a better option at that price? Pretty sure Gundogan is free from rotation at the moment.

I think he can keep within a few points of Bilva quite easily. Gundogan has previous in FPL, I remember him scoring a hattrick before, he is very under the radar. KDB’s injury has opened the door for him too.

      1. Khark

This. Steady 2/3points then every 3/4 games a 5/10 pointer.

        Monitoring aswell.

    3. F_Ivanovic
      • 8 Years

Fraser is straight up a better option - 5.5m is a bench/rotation option usually and it's impossible to guess when Gundogan might get some points but Fraser's will at least be slightly more predictable

He was bound to wildcard considering how much he had spread his funds around the front 8. There's a reason why the best options are more expensive and you can't just go with mid-priced players in every position.

Well he isn't considering he's missed a considerable number of games due to family issues that could resurface. Ederson/Mendy/Fernandinho/Walker are all much more nailed.

I know they don't necessarily put themselves out there as FPL experts, but I'm pretty surprised to hear that one of the Scoutcast members has ended up wildcarding after just one week!!

A nice important reminder to think for yourself and not necessarily go along with views of fantasy football news contributors as they can just as easily mess it up as everyone else.

The fantasy vloggers as a whole, in whatever podcast or vids you watch, have made some rubbish decisions this season so far.
Some have been sensible but I feel alot of them are trying too hard to find the genius pick and taking risks as a result

      1. Pooodle
        • 15 Years
        5 years, 10 months ago

I agree with that. I usually like Joe's advice because at the end of the day the boring sensible picks are sensible for a reason, and most of us want to get as many points as possible. Sometimes trying too hard to be clever and different can just get you in knots.

He also has consistently very high finishes (as does Mark to be fair), so I think he really knows what he's talking about.

It's all about how you want to play the game. d1sable himself said if you want to play for the OR just keep captaining Salah and be a dullard. At least he's being honest and not sugarcoating it. He plays fpl for the fun of it (his words)

Az is my absolute favourite. He's the mixture of both sides. Not afraid to take risks and he's first one to say he got it wrong. But also when it's time to make those 'boring' transfers // protect rank or whatever he'll do that as well.

Yeah very true - AZ also did really well last year.

I do find it strange how people think it's "fun" to pick players that don't get you as many points as other players though...!

you picked Auba for a reason... wk3 onwards. if you think you made a mistake straight swap away.

would the hit leave you with a weaker 1st 11? i.e. 2 starters for 1 (peres = neves?)

        Mendy, Schlupp, Luiz, Daniels, AWB

I am really uncertain of taking a 4 point hit to take Jota out and bring Pedro in

    Currently:
    Hamer
    Alonso; Robertson; Mendy
    Salah; Mane; Rich; Mkhi
    Kun; King; Kamara

    Patricio, Jota, Peltier; Bissaka

    --//--
    If I bring Pedro:
    Hamer

So I deduce you think is worth to bring Pedro in and take Jota out, for a 4 point hit. Correct?

    De Gea
    Alonso, Mendy, Robertson
    Salah, Eriksen, Richarlison, Neves
    Agüero, Arnautovic, Zaha

    Hamer, Peltier, Stephens, AWB

    0 FT, 0 itb

    Eriksen > Mkhitaryan/D.Silva/B.Silva? (-4)

Eriksen is no longer on set pieces and is playing in a deeper position this season. Seems poor value for £9.5m and he's about to drop in price tonight.

you won't be priced out of any of those transfers so might as well wait until next GW to get him out if he doesn't deliver. I wouldn't take a hit for any of these.

    Ederson
    Trippier - Cook - Arnold
    Salah (c) - Eriksen - Mahrez - Richarlison
    Zaha - Firmino - Arnautovic
Subs: Speroni, Neves, Cedric, Wan Bissaka.

    Any suggestions?

      Erik to Mkhi is popular

Not a fan of Fermino and no mane.

Off the dome peice, I'd be looking at bringing in Hazard and mane for Eriksin and mahrez. Sacrifice Fermino for funds.

Want some Arsenal coverage so planning to bring in Mhkitaryan for Bilva with my FT. Sensible move or does anyone think Bilva will outscore Miki over the coming weeks?

It’s the common move this week

      Just made the move myself.

There won't be much in it but I think long term Mkha is better and I don't have Auba

Sensible move. Arsenal have good fixtures. Pep will rotate

Yeah I thought it would be common.

Agree it'll be close, good to have the cover when not willing to make significant downgrades/drop Aguero to bring in Auba just yet.

Any interest in Nathan Akè? He is 0.5 more expensive, but has always carried good goal threat. Bit of a baps magnet too, and nice fixtures. For those who can’t stretch to 5.5 there are worse options. I wonder does he have the edge over Pereira/Chilwell in the 5.0 group, or better to go with the Leicester guys

Go with the Leicester guys imo.
Bournemouth aren’t exactly solid at the back

Yeah I am intruiged by Pereira... but he looks like he may have gotten 10 weeks of attacking returns in 2 games & could cool off now

he certainly looked Excellent against ManU.
Didn’t watch them against Wolves. But it’s a good sign that he Got both assist playing at the back and not OOP.
Say a few people on here saying that Chilwell looked better overall, but I’m not the one to say.

Ake burned me three seasons in a row. He always tricks me into thinking he's underpriced and then underperforms.
