The Complete Guide to our FPL Gameweek 5 tips and advice

After the international break the hoards have returned and the pages go flying by again. Its been a strange break as they always are, for some reason two weeks is just long enough for some odd ideas to set in. The strangest this time is Maddison. I tend to gravitate towards players I can easily remember, and the name Pengting called Maddison is easily recallable thanks to the fine lyrical works of Not3s and his unusual promotion of Addison Lee taxis. So in theory I should be on board with this bandwagon, however, even with this fine musical basis, I do have to question the football basis. Maddison has so far earnt 18pts with 1 goal and 1 assist. This does compare pretty favourable with the 1M cheaper Ryan Fraser, except that Fraser's attacking returns werent reliant on a deflection and a howler from Allison. Having watching quite a few games I can say that I think he has a lot of potential to be a big player in the premierleague, just not yet. The 21 year old has some growing to do first.

Somehow a bangwagon formed in the never ending search for a bargain midfielder to offset points to enable more big hitters. A fairly normal thing, yet this year I cant help but wander what the necessity is. We seem blessed with a plethora of points at the back and a humoungous range of mid priced options in midfield with cheap strikers up front, why the rush for big hitters? The Captain came on earlier in the week to give us an 'emotional' (? are we calling it that?) piece about purchasing Hazard, and I cant help but look in confusion at the hype around a big hitter. Whats wrong with Pedro? What am I missing? Is there some in built desire amongst fantasy players brewed over many years to hunger for bit hitters more than any other player? Despite year after year of cheap options being unenviable value we cling tighter than Jessie J to the price tag. Do we all remember Raheem Sterling and Mahrez on their break through seasons? Or indeed Gareth Bale, Ryan Taylor and Sigurdson. Tunnel vision on the price tag never seems to be helpful for anyone.

So what did I do this week? Well I obviously didnt get sucked in to any bandwagons, and stayed true to the righteus path making only a strong logical decision set to boost me up the rankings on a consistent basis. What I did was bring in a player on fire, terrifying defences everywhere, Mitrovic in for Kamara. Ok, so he faces City this week, but its not like they are watertight and I had the perfect money to do it! There was an incessant need to correct the balance of the cosmos and raise the original up, so that Will Griggs can stop being taken so seriously, he didnt even play at the Euros.

I made my transfer two weeks ago, allowing me to embrace another of my loves, a man who still turns me on, Gareth Southgate, put on quite the show at Wembley last Saturday night. Now whilst we may have lost, and my man Shaw may have injured himself, there were definite positives to take on board. De Gea decided to start making some decent saves again halfway through the first half, which bodes well for me and my double united defence, lets hope Fellaini continues to be the player Jose doesnt deserve, but definitely needs. Eric Dier also showed himself to be entirely useless, which may help enable a Spurs shuffle to Erikson playing CM behind Alli, Son, Lucas Moura and Kane, a true powerhouse designed to gift as many chances to Lucas Moura as possible.

Looking at the weekend I am hopeful. Captain Aguero leads the line, home to Fulham, Ings brings the blisters to Brighton and Mitro is on fire to complete the trio. What can possibly go wrong? Like many, I look to Harry Kane to shut down Mane, preferably man marking him out fo the game to justify getting rid of him the previous gameweek. Arry has the big play in his locker.
