Which FPL players are on international duty ahead of Gameweek 9?

A week of international fixtures gets underway today, with two African Cup of Nations qualifiers and a cluster of friendlies kicking off a nervy period in which we keep our fingers crossed in the hope of our Fantasy assets returning to England unscathed.

This article gives a club-by-club rundown on which assets will be away from their sides during this period, also detailing the dates in which these players will be competing for their respective countries.

There are four players in action in the early hours of Wednesday, October 17 who then face a long-haul flight back from the Americas: Alexis Sanchez (£10.0m), DeAndre Yedlin (£4.5m), Davinson Sanchez (£5.8m) and Raul Jimenez (£5.6m).

Davinson was among the substitutes in Spurs’ Premier League match against Liverpool immediately after the September international break, though Yedlin was thrust straight back into the Newcastle United starting XI for the visit of Arsenal. Alexis Sanchez sat out Chile’s previous two fixtures last month, while Jimenez was recalled early by Wolves as a precautionary measure in plenty of time ahead of Gameweek 5.

Manchester United are in action in the lunchtime kick-off on Saturday, October 20, so it remains to be seen whether Alexis features from the start against Chelsea after his exertions in Mexico next Wednesday morning. Jimenez and Wolves, meanwhile, take on Watford at 3pm on that same Saturday.

The good news for owners of Fantasy assets playing for Brazil and Argentina is that their meeting on Tuesday, October 16 will take place in Saudi Arabia, meaning an earlier-than-usual finish time for the likes of Roberto Firmino (£9.4m), Alisson (£5.6m), Ederson (£5.7m), Richarlison (£6.8m), Lucas Moura (£7.4m) and Roberto Pereyra (£6.2m) and a shorter flight back to the UK.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (£10.7m), Mohamed Salah (£12.8m), Sadio Mane (£9.9m), Wilfried Zaha (£7.0m) and Son Heung-min (£8.3m) are among the FPL players who are in action in Africa and Asia next Tuesday, meanwhile.

Sergio Aguero (£11.3m), Alexandre Lacazette (£9.6m), Aymeric Laporte (£5.7m) and Benjamin Mendy (£6.2m) are some of the more notable “uninjured” players who won’t feature for their respective national teams over the coming week.

    Morning dzz,

If you were to WC in gw10, hypothetically what would you team look like? i am thinking along the lines of
    Fabianski Patricio
    Alonso TAA Doherty Shaw Awb
    Hazard Salah Maddison Knockart
    Kun Arnie Mitro

Now, if you were to WC in gw15, would you WC team be very different? The way i see it:
    - Spurs fixtures improve from gw15 so Kane in place of salah potentially
    - Leicester fixtures worsen so maddison will need to go
    - chelsea, west ham consistently have good fixtures so alonso, haz, arnie stay
    - TAA,doherty great value
    - keepers are fine for long run
    - KDB is only one that could break this template

So, if i am deciding whether to WC in gw10 vs. WC15, i might as well WC in gw10 since i dont see much benefits/changes of wildcarding latter? I currently dont have hazard and can bring him in for a hit (in gw9) but am leaning towards WCing in gw10 to bring in hazard then and make some other minor changes like getting arnie, mitro (over the likes of king and jimenez that i will have)

      I'm WCing this week to
      Pat Hamer
      Mendy Robbo TAA Doherty Bennett
      Hazard Salah Sterling Hodj Masuaku
      Aguero Wilson Mitro.

Only difference for me will be Wilson and Sterling out for Arny and KDB in a few GWs. Rest will stay barring injuries.

That team may have the big hitters but it has awful balance.

I’d think it through a while.

if i somehow survive till GW14, i would like to fit Salah-Hazard-KDB-Kane in same team but as of now its looking tricky...

since you dont have hazard, GW10 WC looks better as it will require some adjustment, especially if you want to keep Salah and Kun

Just wildcard when your team needs it. I don't get this planning a wildcard 5 weeks ahead. In less than that timescale players like Mane have gone from "essential" to "underperforming".

I get that but need to have some future planning involved. I can do Stephens/kane >> hazard/Jiménez in gw9 for a hit and end up with

        Patricio foster
        Alonso Robbo shaw Doherty awb
        Hazard salah Maddison Rich hojb
        Kun king Jiménez

Which is decent but not keen to bring hazard in for a hit when he plays united. Also not keen on Jiménez/king hence thought of just WC in gw10 and bring hazard in then along with arnie,Mitro

Arsenal have a cracking run from 15 too, so I'll be looking to bring in Laca + A N Other on my GW15 WCT

Another issue: so long as you (and I) have Alonso / Robbo / Haz / Salah / Kun the other chess pieces you're moving round the board are, really, pawns. I see no reason to break this template right now, but I could well feel differently about it come GW15

    Good morning people!

    Kepa,
    Alonso, Robbo, Doherty, AWB
    Salah, Hazard, Rich
    Aguero, King, Zaha

    Subs: Hamar, Billing, Stephens, Peltier
    1FT. 1.3ITB

    Which one:
    A) Save
    B) Kepa > Ryan/Dubravka/Ederson (Avoid doubling on Chelsea defence)
    C) Zaha > Arnie/Mitro
    D) AWB > 5.4 DEF

Personally I am leaning towards saving, but interested in hearing your thoughts as well!

me myself prefer mane coz of the price diff. also for me, $13m player should at least score a goal or more to justify the price tag
others will argue about the captaincy. i think you are fine with haz and kun, and probably mane in your side

Defense is very reliant on Wolves and also has a couple of rotation risk full backs. Would lose one of Salah or Mane and strengthen at the back.

    Ryan - Button
Alonso - Trippier- Robertson - Doherty - AWB
Hazard - Maddison- Fraser - Pogba - Ward
    Kane - Jimenez- Aguero

    Following on from above...

    I could do...

    A) Kane/Pog to Arnie/Salah
    B) Kane/Pog/Ward to Kam/Mane/KDB -4 (and upgrade Fraser to Rich in 2 weeks).

    Dilemmas....

Fixtures swing soon. He have not even looked great in games.

Folk see a big haul and want a piece of it, even if was against arguably the worst defence in the league. He has looked clinical in front of goal the last few weeks though.

I know it's some way off and a lot can change between now and then but assuming Salah starts to fire again and Hazard/Kun stay fit, GW14 is a tough decision for captaincy.

    Chelsea v Fulham
    Liverpool v Everton
    City v Bournemouth

Hazard should be the top scorer this season (if no injurie). So unlike last year when it took me 20 GW to understand that Salah was the set and forget captain, from GW 10 Hazard will be my captain of choice.

Worth downgrading King -> Ings next week to upgrade either ASmith or Hudson?

    A) No, keep King and do ASmith -> WHU defender (covers Doherty for GW11-12)
    B) Yes, ASmith -> Gomez (5.2m budget)
    B) Yes, Hudson -> Kennedy (5.0m budget)

    Ederson, Stek
    Alonso, TAA, Doherty, Asmith, Wan-B
    Salah, Hazard, Richarlison, Maddison, Hudson
    Aguero, Arnie, King

The problem I am having on my wildcard is that I have created so many different potential options that o have no idea which one is going to bite me when it all goes wrong.

The other issue is that it’s essentially meaningless until the international break is over since we’ve got no idea who might get injured or not!

I’m almost willing certain players to decide to retire so I can remove them from my options!

2FT, 0,1itb, WC intact, what to do here?

    Ederson - Hamer
    Alonso - Doherty - AWB - Tomkins - (Bednarek)

    Kun - Wilson - Ings

My only concern is Tomkins (4,4).

What are people doing with Richarlison for his tough fixtures?

CRY, mun, BHA, che, CAR, liv, NEW, WAT

Home fixtures are superb but away fixtures very tough. Perhaps a good time to get a cheap 8th attacker/decent 4th defender to cover Richarlison for mun/che/liv and prep for the festive rotation period?

Despite being torn to shreds by the idea yesterday, tempted by Mooy as a 5th mid or Lowe. Wouldnt be too worried about fixtures though for him.

No, I think it's a decent move and I'd been looking at it too

If you're ever gonna have a Hudds attacker this season, now's the time to do it.

I think I'll struggle to afford him as a 5th, unless i get lucky with price changes, so in the end it may come down to Kenedy vs Billing ........ in which case it's Kenedy.

Yeah, that’s my likely move, although for a bit of cash from an Ederson/King downgrade I’m thinking of getting an extra LIV defender and going 4-3-3 for Rich’s tough 3 weeks.

        Rich (mun, che, liv)
        LIV def (CAR, FUL, EVE)

It sounds like a good idea but you won't want to bench that second Liverpool defender for nine of their next 11 matches. You are asking for a benching headache or points to be wasted on the bench IMO.

Yeah, it'd likely be a 3 way rotation, e.g. Richalison, TAA and Holebas (both quite cheap) would give you:

            CRY/hud
            CAR/HUD
            BHA/new
            FUL, sou
            CAR/wat

If he stays up front you effectively get to start with four strikers. He gets extra points for goals and clean sheets. You couldn't ask for kinder home fixtures and only Liverpool have the truly solid defence of that lot. I personally doubt you will be able to find someone cheap that you would feel confident starting ahead of Richarlison.

He would only drop to 12.6 as can only go down .3 before deadline and already dropped .1. He might be 12.7 at end of IB but would be close. He worth a punt for 3-5 game weeks with those fixtures imo, and if still not scoring enough then he is not worth it.

I don't see him dropping below 12.7, and even that is not a certainty.

He is only on -19 on fplstatistics and isn't falling at a fast rate - there's a good chance he stays at 12.8 (particularly given his upcoming fixtures)
