Spot the Differential – Anderson creativity turns heads for Gameweek 9

While Liverpool team news is perhaps the most popular Fantasy Premier League topic this week, we shouldn’t forget about differentials.

In fact, the recent fitness saga for Jurgen Klopp’s Reds has triggered an inclusion of a poorly owned attacking Anfield asset.

He is one of three options, owned by under 5% of Fantasy bosses, who we like the look of for Gameweek 9.

Felipe Anderson (£6.8m)

Ownership: 2.6%

Marko Arnautovic (£7.0m) is, of course, the more popular West Ham option right now but his new colleague Felipe Anderson (£6.8m) is already coming into his own.

His role in set pieces has helped him rise to joint-second for chances created in the last four Gameweeks. He is level with Bernardo Silva (£7.6m) and just one behind Gylfi Sigurdsson (£7.4m) over that time period.

The Brazilian has been involved in direct free-kicks and his place within West Ham’s front three mean that he is often on the receiving end of crosses from the opposite flank – that’s why he was able to score against Manchester United in Gameweek 7.

Tottenham will be without Jan Vertonghen (£5.9m) again on Saturday and may be more vulnerable to a West Ham goal than usual, furthering Anderson’s appeal.

Anthony Knockaert (£5.5m)

Ownership: 1.9%

While Brighton have typically struggled away from home this season, a Gameweek 9 trip to Newcastle United could be their chance to buck the trend.

Only one side has allowed more penalty box goal attempts than the Magpies in home games this season and they are yet to keep a clean sheet in front of their own fans.

For that reason, Anthony Knockaert (£5.5m) could be a differential to consider. He has registered a fine balance between creativity and goal threat in the last four Gameweeks and has more shots on target than colleague Glenn Murray in that time too.

Furthermore, his role in set pieces could prove important. No team has conceded more headed attempts on goal than Newcastle in 2018/19.

Daniel Sturridge (£5.8m)

Ownership: 1.3%

No don’t worry, you haven’t accidentally stumbled across an article from 2014, we have actually tipped Daniel Sturridge (£5.8m) for potential success this week.

The Liverpool striker has made a comeback from injury this season that looks like it could be permanent at long last. More importantly, he’s been getting the job done on the pitch with two substitute Premier League goals this season and strikes also in the Champions League and EFL Cup.

With the recent fitness troubles of Mohamed Salah (£12.8m) and Sadio Mane (£9.8m) there is every reason that Sturridge could come into the side for the trip to Huddersfield Town.

Given he has averaged a goal every 21.5 minutes in the Premier League this season, a start in Gameweek 9 would stand him in good stead for attacking returns.

Lots of captaincy options in Kun, Kane, Salah, Laca, Hazard. Best time to punt on a Stanislas/Alonso, considering that the captaincy is anyway split?

Don't think the captaincy will be split, Aguero will be mass captained imo.

Which would you rather have for the next couple of weeks:
    A) Salah and Fraser* (Bennett as 1st sub)
    B) Sterling and Maddison (could get Salah in for CAR for a hit next GW)

I'm confused...who would I have for the next couple of weeks...but then you say option B you could have Salah as well

      so it's

      a. Fraser
      b. Sterling and Maddison with a -4

    Anchored 🙁

Trying to be sensible about this and not go mental on the hits.

    Ederson // Hamer;

    Shaw* // Alonso // Robertson // AWB // Holebas**;

    Mané* // Hazard // Fraser* // Richarlison // Billing;

    Kane // Zaha * // Mitrovic

    1FT 0.8 ITB

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Was debating doing Kane + Mané to Aguero + Sterling (-4), but I'll want Mané back next week and Kane could outscore Aguero easily. Any other suggestions? Maybe just a Shaw -> TAA/Doherty? Worried about getting enough players out.

      Very similar to me,

      Alisson, Foster
      Alonso, Trent, Doherty, AWB, Holebas
      Haz, Lucas, Maddy, Fraser, Wally
      Kane, Vardy, Deeney

      1.8 itb

Thinking Kane could out score Kun & Eric is back pulling strings.
Vardy for next seven looks attractive.

Bench Alonso, he’s the early kick off so if he blanks then good decision made and if he returns points then be hopeful that king or Fraser no show a few hours later. Bournemouth team line ups will be out when Alonso hits 70mins v United.

What do you think about this 5-2-3 maverick team. Too unconventional for most dullards, I'd guess!

    Hennessey
    Robbo - Trent - Alonso - Mendy - Doherty
    Haz - D. Silva
    Kun (C) - Wilson - Vardy

    Maddison - Pereyra - Ward

      No Liverpool attack an issue.

Is this your current team or a potential team? It looks great for this week, and strong going forward too. Perhaps a tad too much on the bench, though.

Current team! Its a little too much on the bench because I just changed to 5 atb. Hennessey out is the priority next week. I dont mind the strong bench too much, December is soon upon us, but a long term plan is to downgrade Pereyra and upgrade somewhere else, just dont know where yet.

Zaha to Jimenez/Wilson worth a hit?

One more time for the sharing, caring afternoon crowd:

Starting XI and bench order OK?

Bearing in mind I have 2FTs so it’s “use it or lose it” time:

    Ryan
    Laporte, Alonso, Robbo, Doherty
    Salah, Haz, Rich
    Kun, Mitro, Jimenez

    Button, Fraser, Knockaert, AWB

I see a lot of people trying to get a different bournemouth player with King and Fraser in doubt. But if they don't play don't you think that the team loses so much threat without them it's not worth investing in a different bournemouth player?
