Spot the Differential – Anderson creativity turns heads for Gameweek 9

While Liverpool team news is perhaps the most popular Fantasy Premier League topic this week, we shouldn’t forget about differentials.

In fact, the recent fitness saga for Jurgen Klopp’s Reds has triggered an inclusion of a poorly owned attacking Anfield asset.

He is one of three options, owned by under 5% of Fantasy bosses, who we like the look of for Gameweek 9.

Felipe Anderson (£6.8m)

Ownership: 2.6%

Marko Arnautovic (£7.0m) is, of course, the more popular West Ham option right now but his new colleague Felipe Anderson (£6.8m) is already coming into his own.

His role in set pieces has helped him rise to joint-second for chances created in the last four Gameweeks. He is level with Bernardo Silva (£7.6m) and just one behind Gylfi Sigurdsson (£7.4m) over that time period.

The Brazilian has been involved in direct free-kicks and his place within West Ham’s front three mean that he is often on the receiving end of crosses from the opposite flank – that’s why he was able to score against Manchester United in Gameweek 7.

Tottenham will be without Jan Vertonghen (£5.9m) again on Saturday and may be more vulnerable to a West Ham goal than usual, furthering Anderson’s appeal.

Anthony Knockaert (£5.5m)

Ownership: 1.9%

While Brighton have typically struggled away from home this season, a Gameweek 9 trip to Newcastle United could be their chance to buck the trend.

Only one side has allowed more penalty box goal attempts than the Magpies in home games this season and they are yet to keep a clean sheet in front of their own fans.

For that reason, Anthony Knockaert (£5.5m) could be a differential to consider. He has registered a fine balance between creativity and goal threat in the last four Gameweeks and has more shots on target than colleague Glenn Murray in that time too.

Furthermore, his role in set pieces could prove important. No team has conceded more headed attempts on goal than Newcastle in 2018/19.

Daniel Sturridge (£5.8m)

Ownership: 1.3%

No don’t worry, you haven’t accidentally stumbled across an article from 2014, we have actually tipped Daniel Sturridge (£5.8m) for potential success this week.

The Liverpool striker has made a comeback from injury this season that looks like it could be permanent at long last. More importantly, he’s been getting the job done on the pitch with two substitute Premier League goals this season and strikes also in the Champions League and EFL Cup.

With the recent fitness troubles of Mohamed Salah (£12.8m) and Sadio Mane (£9.8m) there is every reason that Sturridge could come into the side for the trip to Huddersfield Town.

Given he has averaged a goal every 21.5 minutes in the Premier League this season, a start in Gameweek 9 would stand him in good stead for attacking returns.

Consider only 1 4.6 goalie and spend it to upgrade 3.9 def to 4.5 or westwood to kenedy?

Prior to the Mane injury, my plan was Zaha & Chilwell -> Jimenez & Mendy. (2FT)

Not sure now whether to ship Mane instead / as well. I
Klopp has been unhelpful. I expect Mane will miss out, but I could handle Bennett coming on to make it a back 4... what would you do??

    Patricio (Bettinelli)
    Alonso, Trippier, Chilwell, (AWB, Bennett)
    Mane, Hazard, Silva, Richarlison (Højbjerg)
    Aguero, Mitro, Zaha

If you're happy with Bennett coming on the would leave it

What was difficult to understand? They´re not saying yes or no because they can´t do that. The job we have to do is to interpret what they say, often training picks helps us, like with some of the Liverpool players. Ultimately we don´t know, but to me there is for instance a big difference between Frasers injury and the one Mané have, and Howe´s comment on Fraser sounds like he is close, but take into account that Stanislas is now ready for 60minutes my guess is he will be rested by the words "if he is not then next week" which was what Howe said. Last time he didn´t have Stanislas as a choice, this time it´s different.
Mané just had an operation, minor in all matters, but nonetheless you will need a day or two to rest, and certainly not any indication wether he was training yesterday or not because that one is just a question about where Manés own pain barrier is set, which Klopp obviously can´t know today. To this picture you must add that Milner probably won´t be risked even if he is fit because of the nature of his injury and Klopp still hints about new players that are not quite ready means he will play him if he is ready. My guess is that Mané will play and Salah will play 60-65 due to managing the muscular thing he had.

      Also, which defenders to play?

      1FT, 0.1 ITB

      Patricio
      Alonso/Robertson/Mendy
      Salah/Hazard/Richarlison/Fraser
      Aguero/Ings/Zaha

Arnie has been quoted as saying the knee issue just means he needs to be careful in training and manage it (swelling after games), but by the time Saturday rolls around he's good to go.

I think it's a smart transfer, Zaha in for a rough few weeks, fixture wise, Mitrovic is another to consider.

Assume you've heard Fraser is a doubt also.

This round: Sterling and Laca in for Mané and Kane (Smalling to Robertson for a hit is also an option)

Arnautovic "runs like he may have aged 50 years during the break."

I hope he's just giving it the 'look how hard I am playing on with this horrible injury' routine

      2 FT's
Depending on injury news, best moves?

      A Kane & Mane > Salah & Vardy
      B Vertoghen & Kane > Robertson & Vardy/Laca/Firmino
      C Vertoghen & Holebas > TAA & Pereira/Chilwell/Doherty

If Lovren plays most likely him. Gomez second.

I will next week, depending on what I do with Mane. Have only 1 FT and zero funds after getting Hazard last week!

G2g here guys or improve bench for -4 in case Fraser doesn’t feature?

      Ederson
      Alonso Robertson Doherty
      Hazard Sterling(C) Richarlison Fraser*
      Kane Arnautovic Mitrovic

      Button Hojbjerg WB Shaw *

      Potential transfers:
      Shaw > Gomez/Lovren/Duffy -4

      Fraser > J.Murphy -4
