Watchlist Update – Ryan rises after Brighton’s three clean sheets

As we approach Gameweek 11 of Fantasy Premier League we have got to work on updating our Watchlist.

It’s goalkeepers up first, with teams such as Brighton and West Ham began to get more attention for their budget options

Alisson (£5.6m) retains the top spot for another week even as Liverpool prepare for a trip to face Arsenal. After that, they still have home matches against Fulham and Everton as well as a trip to Burnley in Gameweek 15.

Ederson (£5.7m) has crept back above Kepa Arrizabalaga (£5.5m) but both goalkeepers are on the brink of reclaiming Favourable Fixture tags. Manchester City have some appealing home fixtures but they still face Manchester United and Chelsea in the next six Gameweeks. Maurizio Sarri’s men have excellent home matches before the defending champions come to Stamford Bridge in Gameweek 16, but they have to visit Spurs in Gameweek 13.

Mat Ryan (£4.5m) has risen to become the best of the rest after a third successive clean sheet recorded in Gameweek 10. The Brighton shot-stopper keeps his Favourable Fixtures tag on account of the fact that the Seagulls still sit top of the Season Ticker defence section for the next six Gameweeks.

Lukasz Fabianski (£4.5m) is up next with West Ham’s fixtures particularly appealing over the next six Gameweeks. Burnley and Huddersfield are the Hammers’ next two opponents and home matches against Cardiff and Crystal Palace are also on the horizon.

Kasper Schmeichel (£5.0m) comes in at sixth place although there is understandably some uncertainty over what future Gameweeks will hold for him. There had been suggestions that Leicester’s trip to Cardiff City this weekend would be postponed although it weas confirmed to be going ahead as planned on Tuesday.

Rui Patricio (£4.6m) has dropped several places following back-to-back clean sheet wipe-outs against favourable opponents. The next two matches look particularly tricky for Wolves with Spurs coming to Molineux in Gameweek 11 and a trip to Arsenal in Gameweek 12. However, it’s Huddersfield and Cardiff after that.

Martin Dubravka (£5.0m) remains at the lower end of the scale although he did register a first clean sheet since Gameweek 6 last time out. The Magpies could prove a source of defensive points as their run is, on paper, quite favourable.

Jordan Pickford (£4.9m) and Ben Foster (£4.5m) bring up the rear with their fixtures a little mixed. The Everton man could be used in a rotation as the Toffees have favourable opponents coming to Goodison Park between now and Gameweek 16 while their away trips are rather difficult. Foster has Unfavourable Fixtures attached to him as Watford must host Liverpool and Manchester City between now and Gameweek 15.

As poor as he was against Spurs on Monday, games at home to smaller sides who will park 10 men behind the ball are exactly the sort where they need Mendy's drive and crossing from the left hand side for.

Why? He's started every match he's been fully fit for, and is the club's only left-back. (don't give me Delph, he was a left-back by necessity last year during Mendy's lengthy absence)

If Mendy does get rested this weekend, it will be a first, not something that was supported by any evidence so far.

He did have a poor game but it was a crap pitch and he's showed he can be disciplined in defending against Liverpool. I think he will get the odd rest like city midfielders but will start the majority.

Still only 6.1m and fourth on the mids scoring list. Yet 8th on the watchlist.

Don’t get why Fraser gets so little support from this site. Guess the contributors don’t have him/missed the boat.

    Oh yeah, terrible fixtures, that’s why he’s so low.......at 6.1m 😕

you can't just look at points totals, Leicester defended horribly when they played Bournemouth (a game he was touch and go for) and then his two other double-digits came against Cardiff and Fulham (the two worst defences) - he's obviously been a great pick, especially at that price, but doesn't mean it will continue.

I knew that was coming, I'm sure you *knew* he would be the 4th highest scoring mid when the season started 😀 you made a decent budget-mid pick and got fortunate, have some humility in your success 😉 definitely right about not ditching though, perfect 4th/5th mid

This is just silly. Fixtures is a big part of the watchlist rankings. It's right there next to the player's names.

And Bournemouth have been good, but also had a great run of fixtures that they capitalized on. Their next 10 games includes matches against Arsenal, City, Liverpool, Spurs and Man United twice!!

I mean come on... And if you are going to drive home that price argument then Brooks is arguably a better option...

      1. Jafooli
        • 12 Years
        5 years, 6 months ago

Yeah, you’re right Brooks definitely a better option on 36pts...

For 1 million cheaper and also having played almost 180 minutes less. In any case, I only mentioned that since you kept going on about his price.

But you're arguing he should be much higher on the watchlist. And the watchlist factors in form AND fixtures. Well, Bournemouth's fixtures are about as bad as they can get.

So yeah... He's pretty much right where he should be. You're fooling yourself if you are thinking that this next run of fixtures is easy for them somehow...

Agreed to a certain point, but the likes of Schurrle and Knockaert shouldn't even be on there at all.

Makes a mockery of the whole list or if fixtures are that important, Aaron Mooy would be top.

At least Fraser has the form - and that is still a valid factor in the watchlist. Kun is top on 60 points, Wilson is 8th on 63 points and Wilson's points are more recent than Kun's. Man City's fixtures aren't exactly bright blue all the way either so it all smacks of bias towards the best teams and not much to do with the form and potential of the best perfomers.

So I have a question. I'm planning to use free hit next week. I'm holding Mitro for this week (given he doesn't drop before the deadline as I'll be priced out of Arnie) and making the Arnie move before Saturday's price changes. So the question is if I make the Arnie transfer before I activate my Free hit chip, will I still have him the following week? or will I be back on Mitro?

Any thoughts on my team...? I am worried about not having Hazard / Salah... Do I take a hit and seek to get one of them in this GW? Or bank the transfer and do it next week? Or, do I even do something like get rid of B.Silva for someone like Martial or Barkley...?

    Ederson

    Robertson, Trippier, Alonso

It's a gamble yes but last couple of years I have held on to players I don't really want only cause they had a DGW in 34/37 that I was saving them for. It probably cost me points in the long run.

What would you accept as a good BB score? I reckon your Bench could easily get over 20 points this week... just my $0.02

I see your point and I think 15 points is decent score from the bench. I have first team players who maybe rotated such as Mendy and Tripps, so would need the bench to come in and the BB is then wasted.

you could be right, it's him or Fraser who I think will get points against Man U . Think Liverpool will concede but Robbo is likely to get attacking returns. Tough choice

What is a good Team Value this season at this stage?

I have 102,7 and it feels pretty low given my rank of 24k.

    Afternoon, all.

    With this team, 2FTs and 0.1itb ...

    Patricio Hamer
    Mendy TAA Gomez Doherty Digne
    Salah Hazard Sterling Brooks Obiang
    Kun Wilson Ings

    ... would you:
    a) Agree that Sterling + Ings -> KDB + Arnie is the obvious move; or
    b) Do something else?

I've got players in 8 from 10 games this weekend.
Newcastle Watford & Huddersfield Fulham the exceptions. Makes the week a bit more interesting. Has anyone ever had players in all 10 games?

Managers will double/triple up on in form teams at any stage. So it is unlikely

Salah not a popular captaincy pick this week and I can't see why not. Are managers too quick to assign a fixture as "tough" or "easy" without due consideration of how the actual game might go?

I can't see anything but an open match between Arsenal and Liverpool, a bit like Arsenal's game against Chelsea except Liverpool is even more dangerous against a team that will commit players forward. Gunners defence also in a bit of disarray with limited personnel to choose from.

If it's another 4-3 type of game then Salah is going to be in the goals. I've currently got Salah (C) and Hazard (VC), but I don't own Aguero.

    1. MTPockets
        5 years, 6 months ago

Not my captain, but a decent one vs Arsenal defence.
Salah's ahead of last season's pts at this stage (65 vs 57).

Nah can't see an open game to that extent.Liverpool have been cautious this season in big games and can't see it changing.Chelsea arsenal game was at start of season and can't see similar happening if they both play now.hazard back fit and in training and if he is confirmed fit by sarri can't see the reason not capping him

Although he was absolutely awful on Monday, Mendy nearly got bonus. My defence is too weak and I want him back. Given upcoming fixtures, I think this might be best way, any other suggestions?

      Bennett > Mendy
      Fraser > Kenedy
      Mitro > Rondon
      2 FTs so only (-4)

      Current team:
      Fab/Begovic
      Robertson/Bennett/Duffy/AWB/Yedlin
      Salah/Mane/Maddison/Siggy/Fraser
      Aguero/Mitro/Arnie

I wouldn't take a hit for him. I'll probably try to downgrade Fraser to a playing 4.5 and get him in for Duffy maybe if money fits. I'll keep Mitro for this week

Ello lads.. Coming out of a poor GW because no pool attack primarily.
I have 1 FT (and WC) and 0,6 ITB.

Looking at Kane + Knockaert out for Arnie + Mané for a -4.. Worth?
Also holding Hazard and Richarlison, but for a -4 i cannot get Salah unless i drop Haz.

I looked at some stats to help try and pick between Hazard and Aguero for the armband this week. All based on last 5 fixtures the two players featured in.

        Hazard:

        Minutes played: 443
        Goals: 5
        Assists: 1
        Bonus: 9

        Aguero:

        Minutes played: 325
        Goals: 3
        Assists: 0
        Bonus: 2

The stats from the players all point towards Hazard. Now let's look at how the defenses of the sides they are up against fair in the last 5.

        Palace (Hazard):

        Goals conceded: 7
        Clean sheets: 1

        Southampton (Aguero)

        Goals conceded: 8
        Cleen sheets: 2

Whilst Palace and Southampton have conceded similar numbers of goals, Southampton have kept two clean sheets in the last two games.

Does this mean Hazard is the clear and obvious choice? Or will he take some time to hit some form again after his minor injury?

          Nice write-up. Food for thought.

I think his minor injury was a way of getting him out of a pointless Europa tie and an easy Burnley game without any accusations that a lack of respect was being shown to the opposition. He will be back and should play 90. Chelsea need to keep the pressure on - they can't afford a slip-up at this point in the season.

Spurs have two decent fixtures coming up, he can go after that to upgrade Jiminez or a midfielder.

I’ll play 442 whilst wolves have bad fixtures. I’d rather have Trippier in the next 2 than Doherty.

I’ll be playing 442 due to Palace and wolves having bad fixtures. After that I’ll sell Trippier and move back to 343 or 352, with Trippier cash going to upgrade 5th mid or Jiminez.

        Patricio (Stekelenburg)
        Alonso, Mendy, Robertson (Wan-Bissaka, Bennett)
        Hazard, Mane, Maddison, Richarlison (Stephens)
        Aguero, Mitrovic, Wilson

        2FT, 2.8 in bank

Don't want to waste a transfer, but can't see any obvious moves, except perhaps:

        Patricio --> Ryan

Worth a FT given Ryan's fixtures?? I have Bennett for Wolves cover.

First of all... thank you for the advices and positive conversation mates!
Using my WC I got 81pts and am in the 40K Ranking :))

        Now for GW11:

        Right team and bench order?

        Fab*
        Mendy Robbo Alonso
        Salah Richa Maddy Kenedy Hazard
        Aguero (C) Arnie

        Subs: Button, Success, Duffy, WanB

If Haz and Arnie are back, I will just do Foster to Fab and probably in next GWs will save transfers
