Meet the Manager #8 – Kenneth Tang

Kenneth Tang’s Fantasy Premier League career history is nothing short of breathtaking.

A third of his 12 season finishes have been within the top 500 and a quarter within the top 200.

In total he has nine top 10,000 finishes and impressively almost broke into the top 100 during his first ever campaign, back in 2006/7.

In our latest Meet the Manager interview Kenneth reveals how close attention to the fixtures of the top six sides each year has been crucial to his success.

Wildcard timing is also vital, with his first of this season still to be played. Using his big-six fixture strategy he also explains why Gameweek 16 looks to be the optimum time to deploy this chip and ensure he marches up the overall rankings, perhaps even jettisoning his premium defence along the way.

As a veteran of FPL he explains how the advent of the second Wildcard saw the game change and forced him to tweak his strategy and planning.

The value of the eye test is also key for Kenneth. From his Hong Kong base he is able to regularly spend Saturday and Sunday nights watching matches, although with a new born baby this has not been as regular as previous campaigns.

    Any suggestions how to get Mane or Salah in using 2/3 transfers without taking out Haz, Sterling or Kun?

      I guess you could do that by downgrading Alonso and Ings to do Maddison to mane. But personally I believe you need to chose between aguero and sterling. 4 premium attackers will ruin your team balance. And you will have a captain headache every week.

    Rhinos - "2 years ago I joined the Chilli Bowl community tournament as a player and it changed my fpl life. We didn't even make the final, but the group I joined turned out to be so friendly that we reformed the next year. Two of us have even travelled overseas and met up in Brisbane and New York respectively."

    If I was on MtM I'd want at least an hour. 30 mins isn't much at all, feels a bit rushed and difficult to really get any insight. Most guys have said pretty similar things so far, the usual common sense stuff that everyone is aware of. Waiting for someone to really go off piste and only Adam has got close so far. Maybe FPL Virgin does need some screen time.

    C) Once they play each other, I'm looking at Ederson > Fab (before GW 14)? Double City defense has served me well but this would free up enough funds to get both Salah and Sterling.

      You can just do Maddison to mane and play 442.

      Regarding c, I also own ederson and Mendy. Why are you considering removing ederson if he is outscoring Mendy? You can go to a cheap defender because you have good 4th and 5th defender.

        To add to this point here if Ederson is outscoring Mendy (granted Mendy's "ceiling" is higher) you could go for a WHU defender instead of Mendy if you go for the above advice. This would probably free up even more funds than Ederson > Fab?

          My thinking was despite Ederson having the higher overall, Mendy missed three games and probably has a higher point potential due to Bonus, assists. Plus Fab can make up some of the difference with saves.

          a Balbuena and Ederson combo does seem like an attractive alternative though

      Very nice for the next few weeks, but have a think about how you get Spurs in 15 and Arsenal in 16: you're gonna want them, and fitting Trippier / Kane / Laca in there will take some surgery (hits) or serious careful planning.

          True that, will be catefully watching Eriksen's form................though when Eriksen plays well, Kane usually scores well too. Kane's conversion rate is also bonkers low ATM.

      i like the team. Just not sure on chilwell. He is a great pick but i don't like the look of the leicester defence. Maguire out injured isn't positive too.

    Anybody thinking to use the ole FH chip this week, im haemorrhaging points and need to stop the rot somehow, until my players get some form/fixtures. Obviously this chip can be better served in a minimal week perhaps, but with prime fixtures for Liverpool/Arsenal/West Ham etc maybe I can earn a few points considering I only own Robertson from them. I’ve dropped over 100k to 120k in a few weeks, of am I just reacting and not acting? Any thoughts?

          I'd keep Mendy, but I know where you're coming from

          For me, though, the attracction of Mendy is City being 4-0 up and coasting, and him thinking sodding, bombing on and getting a spwany assist in the 89th minute and 3 BAPS. Edersen won't do that for you.

      Or alternatively do Maddison to Anderson/Diangana to double up on West Ham? Depends how highly you rate Maddison.
