Scoutcast Episode 274 – Swinging

Medium-term planning takes centre stage in our latest Scoutcast as Joe, David, Luke and Az look ahead to a major swing in the fixtures next month.

With the season ticker turning in favour of the likes of Tottenham and Arsenal, and away from Liverpool, the Scoutcast crew are already hatching plans as they look to get one step ahead of the template.

Our community questions section focuses on which heavy hitters to ditch and which to bring in over the coming weeks. This includes a discussion on whether Manchester City’s Raheem Sterling has become “essential”, following his 21-point haul against Southampton at the weekend.

The season ticker comes under further scrutiny as we tackle the community’s questions about West Ham. With only one bad fixture from now until mid-January, it is no wonder the Hammers are attracting interest.

Our review of Gameweek 11 sees Luke’s maverick tendencies prevail, while Az, David and Joe continue to tread water with an unremarkable set of scores.

A very well-known manager who featured prominently on the wrong side of our regular ‘rough with the smooth’ round-up some weeks back returns, this time with a sensationally smooth points haul.

Elsewhere, Gameweek 12’s top differential and clean sheet predictions section features a cheeky chat about two Spurs midfielders.

The crew then finish off this packed one-hour-and-20-minute show by revealing their transfer and captaincy plans this weekend, with Liverpool’s enticing home clash with Fulham firmly on their minds.

    Better combo:

    A) Laporte + Jimenez
    B) Doherty + Wilson

(Think Laporte is "just" for CS as Doherty is more attacking and has nice fix after this GW. Jimenez doesnt play full games but also has nice games comming as Wilson has great form but not so good fix)

Also will WC in GW 15-16 most probably.

90 mins for Sterling tonight and he'll be benched for the Utd game?

Aguero and Mendy seem safe to start though.

How's the rest of your team looking?

Just trying to work out how to get a good team (with Alsonso & Hazard seeming essential too) and accommodate the City duo.

Teams linked, but this is what i have (well I will by the end of the week when i do my transfer to get mane in)

          Fabs/Hamer
          Mendy/Robbo/Doherty/Duffy/AWB
          Sterling/Haz/Mane/Martial/Barkley
          Kun/Arnie/Kamara

Wow that's a great team, 4 high scoring captain options!

I have Sterling but am very tempted to get Aguero too...just who to downgrade is the question.

Thanks, made some good investments and built up TV to around 104.8 which helps. City double up is a good move since they score so many goals. If you have all of RAM you could downgrade? What's the rest of your team?

                Very nice team value.

I've spent more of defence :

                Ederson, Fab
                Mendy, Alonso, Roberton, Doherty, Keane
                Hazard, Mane, Sterling, Barkley, Fraser
                Arnie, Murray, Kamara

How much ITB? and how many free transfers? As it probably would take 3 moves without losing a premium. You would also need to lose either Mendy or Ederson for sure as you have 3 City players

How do i fit a Liverpool player in, probably Mane? Got 2 FTs but £0m in bank

    Patricio
    Mendy Alonso TAA
    Sterling Hazard Richarlison Kenedy
    Aguero Lacazette Arnie

    Doherty Hojbjerg AWB

Considering maybe even doing Aguero & Kenedy for Mane & £6.4m forward, or Lacazette & Ken to Mane and Success.

Ideally want to go into the International Break with 2 FTs though... maybe i should just ignore Liverpool and switch Hojbjerg to the WHU mid

If you have good back up for when he's benched then Stones may work out ok for you. I'd prefer Chilwell in that price range if you don't already own.

Best way to get Arnie in here? Would be for -4 so the other player coming in also needs to impress,
Or any other moves other than getting Arnie in?

    Alonso, Mendy, Robertson, Doherty, Duffy
    Salah, hazard, Maddison, richarlison, billing
    Aguero, mitro, success

More embarrassing for the two blokes who are supposed to be officiating. I’ve never agreed with the fourth and fifth officials being on the same side as the linesman - I know why they do it because the refs patrol a diagonal line, but I still think having them the other side would mean better decision making.
