Scoutcast Extra – Big Numbers (Gameweeks 1-12)

The latest international break gives us the opportunity to take stock of the key underlying statistics being posted by teams and players over the first 12 Gameweeks of the season.

In this extra to our usual Scoutcast format, David and Joe sift through a raft of statistics to uncover who have been the most attacking players in terms of both goal threat and creativity.

They also find out who has been over and under performing and delve deep into the team statistics.  Most threatening sides, best defences and those vying for whipping boy status are among issues looked at.

Meanwhile, our Scoutcast duo also find out which defenders are set to produce points at both ends of the pitch and they name the best bonus magnets to consider.

Key talisman, who are integral to their side’s chances of scoring, are also put under the microscope.

Joe and David also reveal how this autumnal stat-attack has affected their future transfer plans.

Tables used in this Scoutcast Extra episode are from our Members area.

think something which could be said for keane is *if* mina becomes a starter keane will surely benefit by only having to deal with the opposition's 2nd best marker on set-pieces as opposed to their main man. similar to lovren thanks to vvd

Keane would be my pick as it stands as he’s cheaper than Mina. Need to see Mina in action first at that price I think.

The only thing I'd say is have a look at minutes per for the home/away team stats. City may be 8th on your list for away threat but sorted by minutes they only drop to 2nd as they've only played away 5 times with most other sides managing 6/7 and in Spurs' case 8

So it turned out my random post was more successful than I thought! Thanks to all who contributed so far- it’s a nice break from the RMT questions that we can’t really answer for another week!

I would go Mendy to Doh

I think you have too much money in defence. I also don't think Mendy is providing the attacking returns of the other premium defenders (Alonso, Robbo). Plus you have cover with Laporte.

So Jonty and Munday think Aguero + Sterling is too much. I can't quite wrap my head around that. Is it either or for you guys as well? I already own Kun and if I move Salah on in the coming weeks it will almost certainly be for Sterling. Thoughts on doubling up on City's big hitters?

they are great. but for me "too much" is rotation risk in Xmas period not how much I spend on city attackers

      1. I Member

The nice thing about it is that the money you get from downgrading Salah to Sterling can be used to get Kane in for Aguero in GW15.

      2. A.T
        • 13 Years
        5 years, 5 months ago

I think the Xmas rotation thing is a bit of a myth. Of course it could happen but it’ll probably only be one game, which could happen to anyone anytime. It wouldn’t stop me doubling on anyone just because 5hey might miss a game in a few weeks time.

    3. Maximus Bonimus Pointimus

Still prefer Salah to Sterling, and Kun to Sterling.

Was considering but rotation during Xmas is putting me off. Imagine no Kun and Sterling in the lineup, can survive with one doubt it with 2.

I'm almost certainly going to have Kun and Sterling and Mahrez by GW14. The way I see it, at least 2/3 will play every week - often, all of them will - and they are sooooo far ahead as a team in attacking stats that you're almost guaranteed returns. In the same way that 'coverage' doesn't exist, overkill doesn't either, if it's all about points. Sterling and Mahrez will outscore Salah and Maddison.

      1. I Member
        • 8 Years
        5 years, 5 months ago

Yeah I tend to agree. Aguero and Sterling are two of the highest points scorers in the game, it's irrelevant that they both play for the same team.

      2. jtreble
        • 7 Years

I would bet, however, that Mendy could out point Mahrez ...

      3. Shuko
        • 9 Years
        5 years, 5 months ago

Indeed, I don't really get the "too much" thing. I've been really happy with Sterling, Kun, Dilva triple-up for few weeks. Why deliberately limit yourself picking from the team(s) that actually score plenty. Everyone has been so stuck on Salah and Mane when Pool is not the same team it was last season.

Would you not prefer Mendy or Ederson to Sterling or Mahrez? Much more points for your dollar

        1. jtreble
          • 7 Years
          5 years, 5 months ago

My point above. I suspect Mendy could also out point Mahrez.

I had Mendy at the start before he missed the games. I was thinking of getting him back, but my opinion is that the City midfield has higher ceiling to offer. I admit, I've been a bit lucky when City hasn't kept as many clean sheets as they should have. For some reason, I'm more worried about not owning City def than owning Salah. Anyway, money is not really the problem (2.8ITB), rather slots are. Still tinkering about what to upgrade, was planning on losing Fraser (bought at 5.6) and/or Wilson(6.2), to more premier def/mid, but Bou looks ok still.

alisson, danilo and firmino expected to start for brazil. ederson, willian and richarlison set for the bench.

would say that predicted lineup is good for aguero and firmino as i'd expect jesus to start the second game. have to admit a tiny part of me would like willian to tweak a hamstring in one of the games to pave the way for pedro home to fulham

    Potential wildcard team (3-5-2) :

    Ederson / 4.0

    Bennett / Kiko / Alonso / Dunk / Wan-B

    Hazard / Salah / Fraser / Martial / Richarlison

    Aguero / Arnautovic / Success

    Any tips?

Defense too weak I'd downgrade ederzen to upgrade defense and I'd go jimi/ Ings and Murphy over Fraser and success persoanlly

      sorry don't like the defence

you have one premium defender plus a benching headache between 4 mid level defenders,
Why not have Doherty for attacking returns and Stones / Laporte / TAA? Maybe downgrade Fraser to fodder if needed

    Fabianski | Hamer
    Robertson | TAA | Alonso | doherty | AWB
    Salah | Sterling | Hazard | Richarlison | Billing
    Arnie | Jiminez | Mitrovic

Looking to change to this team by taking -4 hit for 2 weeks.
    Reasons:
    Good premium defenders
    Salah, Hazard and sterling
Budget strikers are the way to go, and these 3 can rotate well.

How does it look? Open to criticism 🙂

Looks good but not keen on Mitro. Maybe Rondon as a differential and save some cash

    Is Keane nailed though?

Couldn't Zouma and Mina be the pairing?

Heard whispers of 3 at the back. I know Silva has been talking him up recently saying he is starting to show the real player. He is also better on the ball than the other two so think he is nailed.

If Mendy is injured is Laporte the most nailed city defender? He is only left-footed centre back and that's why Pep won't bench him imo.

It doesn't matter whether is Mendy injured or not, he is still most nailed

I don’t think Mendy being injured makes any difference to this.

    A) Alonso/Dilva or B) Balbuena/Sterling?

Any mods on? I'll like to report a fault with the Watchlist. Jamie Vardy seems to be stuck as the third best option in the forwards category. I think it's cache needs cleared.

He's fourth in my list. Who would you have above him?

Unsure at the moment. I noticed someone posted a tweet from a Ben someone saying he was in Barcelona with needle emojis. Not sure if this guy is legit though!
