Scoutcast Extra – Big Numbers (Gameweeks 1-12)

The latest international break gives us the opportunity to take stock of the key underlying statistics being posted by teams and players over the first 12 Gameweeks of the season.

In this extra to our usual Scoutcast format, David and Joe sift through a raft of statistics to uncover who have been the most attacking players in terms of both goal threat and creativity.

They also find out who has been over and under performing and delve deep into the team statistics.  Most threatening sides, best defences and those vying for whipping boy status are among issues looked at.

Meanwhile, our Scoutcast duo also find out which defenders are set to produce points at both ends of the pitch and they name the best bonus magnets to consider.

Key talisman, who are integral to their side’s chances of scoring, are also put under the microscope.

Joe and David also reveal how this autumnal stat-attack has affected their future transfer plans.

I'm liking to look of Keane instead of Digne personally. Thoughts?

I can't look past set piece duties of Digne. Not only will he get a few assists here and there but since he is creating chances every match he is always in line for bonus if Everton keep a clean shet.

Baines not a threat to Digne’s game time at all?

No, imo. The hectic winter schedule might see some rotation in the odd game, nothing more than that.

    Hi Guys,

on a WC, I am looking for something a little bit less template.
After long consideration, I am willing to drop Salah for Mané. Samah returns compared to Mané’s aren’t justifying the 3.2 price diff imo.

What do you think of this WC then? Mostly 4-4-2, sometimes 5-3-2

    Patrico / fabiansky
    Digne / Doherty / Alonso / Robertson / AWB
    Sterling / Mané / Richarlison / Paterson / Sessegnon
    Kane / Arnie / Kamara
    0,7 ITB

    My thinking process:
    - Alonso and Robertson are rank killers and just too hard to ignore in my opinion. Plus, they are fun to own.
    - Digne is promising and everton might switch to 3 at the back and tighten up
    - Doherty: nothing to add
    - AWB: just too good value for the price and a real option to play each week. Not just a bench fodder.
    - Sterling is capable of big hauls, a real captain candidate.
    - Mané: well, this is the sensible point here. He won’t be up to Salah’s points in the end of the season but 3.2 is too huge of a price gap for the current points difference
    - Richarlison: OOP, good fixtures..
    - Paterson: OOP, worth the gamble/ Mostly
    - Sessegnon. Well that’s a bit maverick but willing to take a gamble here with Ranieri’s arrival. he might be pushed up on the pitch return. If it’s a fail, it is an easy with to Fraser or other maverick +-6 pick.
    - Kane. bringing him in in 2 weeks. Will monitor until then how spurs do. Other options available easily with Lacazette or even Lukaku if he starts firing.
    - Arnie: well good fixtures and good value. A bit worried about gam time and injury but easy switch to Calum Wilson / Jimenez
    - Kamara: bench fodder. Might get a game or two in the Xmas period which is what I expect from a bench fodder. I also always like to pick a bench fodder in a team with a new appointed coach. you never know what can happen.

I would be WCing this week but will only bring Sterling next week (in place of Salah) and Kane in the two Weeks (in place of Aguero) as I believe wat is a perfect fixture for Salah actually and so is why for Aguero.

    thoughts are welcome !

    thanks !

I like everything about that, except for the Kane/Kamara picks. No need to rush in Kane while Aguero is in red hot form. That will also kill your rank if he hauls and Kane remains anonymous for the next few weeks.

I would switch to Aguero and use the funds to upgrade Kamara. You need a strong front three over the busy festive schedule.

That's the plan about Kane. Keep Aguero for the next two, and assess.
Although I will not make the mistake again to bother too much about rotation risks over the Xmas Period. Rotation will happen (and probably more for Aguero than for Kane actually).

But I think both apporach are valid:

A- focus on having 15 nailed players
B- Forget about 1 and play with 14 and keep some funds to jump on bandwagons or manage injuries.

You're basically betting on Kane and Sterling instead of Aguero and Salah. Gutsy imo. Maybe Kane will improve once Eriksen and Dele Alli are back fit and firing. I think fixtures hardly matter for Man City. So Kane probably won't outscore Aguero even with better fixtures and personally I don't think Sterling outscores Salah.

Plus you don't have Hazard, who along with Alonso is probably the only near essential imo.

I think the Mane Salah debate is bogus. They aren't comparable at all. Mane doesn't cover Liverpool attack or Salah.

Mané and Salah have the same PPM ratio at the moment this season so it is actually not true to say he doe snot cover Salah. Although I agree Salah has an improvement margin that Mané does not have. But onece ahain, Salah has not proven this year he has a better ceiling than mané and every time Salah hauled, Mané also did.

I think it is just a matter of a few GW we will see Jesus taking some minutes off Aguero. History has shown than Kun can't physically handle a whole season without rest or injuries and I think pep knows this

More explosive. Silva will get more consistent 7/8 pointers whereas Sane is capable of 14+.

Whether he's worth it or not, i'm not sure but definitely considering both as part of a few moves as part of getting Mendy out

Would you rather go Stones (best chance for clean sheets) or Dunk (more of a goal threat)?

Dunk would mean an eventual transfer out in a few weeks though

I'm not saying he's a bad choice - just that I don't really know anything about him...

Is he likely to get goals/assists? I know Everton have a few good home games coming, but on that rationale West Ham are the more obvious choice.

For me it comes down to who's likely to get Mendy's actual shirt. I'd imagine that'll be Delph.

I have a serious hatred for mane - but I’m glad so many players held on to him. Early in this season he performed better than salah - largely due to a massively offside goal and the 3 bonus points that gave him! So effectively it looked like I made the wrong option with salah now salah finally edged above in the points and mane has been very inconsistent but he still popped up at Cardiff to ruin maintain the ranks of those who sided with him!

I know there is time and a lot of things will change... but I made a plan when GW15 comes:

    Current Team is:

    Fab
    Mendy Robbo Alonso Duffy
    Salah Richa FAnderson Hazard
    Aguero Arnie

    Subs: Button, Kenedy, Success, WanB

    Transfers around GW13 -GW19:
Mendy, Robbo, Duffy, Salah and Success to Digne, Bellerin, Femenia, Martial and Kane
    Kane Martial,

    Gives me something like:

    Fab
    Digne Alonso Bellerin
    Martial Richa FAnderson Hazard
    Aguero Arnie Kane

    Subs: Button, Kenedy, Femenia, WanB

(+) Kane and Kun are great Captain material

(-) No Liverpool, though their fixtures arent great around Christmas
Defenders from average teams, though with good fixtures

    Thoughts?

I think a lot of people plan to get Kane around GW15. Of course others will say he is not in form but given his fix... a brace vs the Saints and this place goes Boom. We have seen it before 🙂

laca and kane rotate captaincy very well and most importantly are nailed and can also mix it up with hazard if needed .Mahrez/dilva + laporte provide decent city cover.Robbo is enough for liverpool during their run from gw16

    1ft

    A) Mendy > Digne
    B) Mendy & Mane > Digne & Sterling for -4. This would only leave me with Robbo for Liverpool

Will be waiting until as late as possible but may have to pull the trigger if prices look to be changing soon, just a little worrying I have 4 yellow flags, hoping they are all IB "injuries"

B looks good but sterling could be rested after so be a bit careful

I' considering the exact same thing. Think I'm making the Mendy/Digne move today and and then monitor the prices on Sterling and Mane

    Mendy + Westwood > Dunk + Martial (-4)?
I have Success in my team so I could use a new playing midfielder. What do you think about this move?

    Kenedy or Paterson?

From those 2, Paterson for me, he's playing up top and Cardiffs fixtures are not too bad.

    Fabianski (Button*)
    Alonso, TAA, Doherty*, Bennett, Mendy*
    Salah, Hazard, Richarlison*, Gudmundsson*, Obiang
    Aguero, Arnautovic, Aguero

    1FT, 0.3 ITB

A lot of flagged players. I reckon Doherty and Richarlison will be fine for GW13, but what would you do with mendy:

    A) Mendy -> Robertson (need to do tonight because Robertson will rise according to fplstats)
    B) Mendy -> Laporte
    C) Mendy -> Digne

I'd be tempted to go B as you already have TAA, not sure I'd want double up on Pool defence.

He’s one of those if have you have keep him but there are some poor fixtures on the horizon so not really worth bringing in particularly as a Mendy replacement imo

Mendy to Duffy and Hart to Ederson or just Mendy to Laporte?

Just Mendy to Laporte. Hart has 3 good fixtures in next 4.

Alonso only needs to average 4.4 ppm for the rest of the season to hit 200.

Alonso is gold. I think the record is 177 between Alonso and Baines.

so Mendy scenario, few options in my head

    a)Mendy / Laca > Digne / Aguero (-4)
b)Mendy to Digne, Laca to Aguero next GW
    c)Mendy > Laporte

Or, the options above with TAA instead of Digne (alrerady have Robbo)

    Thoughts all?
