How Top 10k managers have prepared for Double Gameweek 25

The top 10,000 Fantasy Premier League managers are holding off on stockpiling their squads full of Double Gameweek 25 players.

With Manchester City and Everton playing twice in the next round of matches, it looks as if those at the top echelons of FPL have preferred not to focus so heavily on them just yet.

Analysis of the most popular squads in the top 10,000 of the worldwide rankings shows that no more than three players with two fixtures in Gameweek 25 are currently in the template.

As you can see from the graphic below, those options are Lucas Digne (£5.3m), Richarlison (£6.8m) and Leroy Sané (£9.7m), which means there may be some transfer work to be done ahead of the Double Gameweek.

The Everton left-back, benched for the Gameweek 24 trip to Huddersfield Town, is by far the most popular, currently in 71% of teams in the top 10,000.

That may have been because he would have been the easiest of the touted Double Gameweek 25 options to bench when he experiences a Blank in Gameweek 27.

However, that large number of owners may have a transfer to make in Gameweek 26 now that Digne has picked up a one-match suspension following a sending off at Huddersfield.

That means he will play just a maximum of one Double Gameweek fixture.

Richarlison, who proved his doubters wrong by finding the net at the John Smith’s Stadium on Tuesday night, is the second most popular, currently in 52% of teams in the top 10,000.

The fact that Sané is the most fashionable Manchester City option is reflective of the uncertainty around the Citizens’ team selection.

The German international is in 48% of teams within the top 10,000 with the recent relapse Benjamin Mendy (£6.1m) experienced on the comeback from injury playing into his hands when it comes to potentially starting both Double Gameweek 25 matches.

It will be interesting to see how many of the top 10,000 managers pile in on further Double Gameweek players between now and Saturday’s deadline.

It is entirely possible that managers at this level of the game may not concentrate as much on this altered Gameweek as we might have imagined.

After all, a quick look at the most common Wildcard squad inside the top 10,000 managers for Gameweek 24, shows just two players from Everton and Manchester City, Digne and Sané.

Other interesting angles from analysing the Wildcard squads among the top 10,000 managers is the fact that Son Heung-min (£8.6m) is in 25% of them, while Eden Hazard (£11.0m), who blanks in Gameweek 27, is in 23.44%.

However, it does look as if the top level managers are at least more prepared for Double Gameweek 25 compared to the rest of those playing FPL.

Analysing the most popular players in overall squads, we can see just two Double Gameweekers in Digne and Sané, and of course only one of those has a chance to play in both matches now.

They are also less well represented as a proportion at that level too, with just 27% in possession of Everton’s French left-back and 42% owning Sané.

Digne owners selling for the DGW? Bringing in a City/Eve defender?

Yep. Dropped him for Danilo (which was the only City def I wanted/could afford with that move). He'll likely not play both, but I don't fancy Everton to do much over two. I want Mendy back, but not sure if I'll bother for the DGW, can't see him playing enough mins to help with the -4.

Mendy might be a shout. But I’m not sure I’d want to waste transfer getting him out again. As I have a weak bench that wouldn’t cope With the blank

Will probably deal with later, unless TAA due to miss out again.

Gotta fix the fire that is Jimenez.

Thankfully no need to bring in any more City assets.

Yeah I think 3-4 is probably a good number. Not worth taking hits in my eyes for me personally (tight league at the top) and I have the 2FT where the others above me don't. So not going to get drawn into taking a hit this week for the lottery and risks that come with City/Everton at the moment.

3 defenders currently with red flags... Digne, TAA and Kiko. Hopefully TAA is back next game, otherwise I'm thinking

      A) Digne > Mendy
      B) Digne > Periera

If Mendy looks to be fit I think probably A, agree? Would still leave me with 5 blanking players in 27 but I could sort that over the next 2

Alonso price drop forcing my hand slightly..

      Fabianski (inj?)-- Button
Alonso(rotation risk) Holebas Doherty -- Digne Schindler
      Salah Pogba Rich Sane Hazard
      Rashford Jimenez -- Kamara

A: Hazard >> Sterling (c) but he looked very bad today
      B: Digne >> Stones
      C: Alonso + Hazard >> Laporte + Sterling (-4)
      D: Digne + Hazard >> Laporte + Dilva (-4)
E: Hazard + Kamara >> Puncheon + Augero (-4). prefer Kun over sterling plus easier to move him to Auba in gw27. Main issue is if alonso is dropped, my defence is very poor this gw

I wouldnt do any of those. City's defence is leaky at the mo, Haz has a excellent fixture and you already have Sane, who is enough city cover for the dgw imo.

To be honest I really cannot see the value in bringing anyone in from either Everton or City just because of their DGW other than maybe Aguero or Richarlison.

I definitely wouldn’t want to double up on either. For now I’ll probably just stick with Sane and hope he plays both games. I wouldn’t even be that disappointed if he misses one game really.

Can’t see him start next game anyway - he was utter rubbish tonight.

Definitely not taking a hit for the DGW. It's not overly appealing with City and Everton not having overly favourable fixtures and also not in the best form. Plus City have the rotation woes which is like a lottery.

It's tight at the top of my league and I have 2FT so I'll use those but not going to get drawn into the hype of hits for DGW in this instance. If there was clear cut options and fixtures than sure, but City vs Ars/Eve and Everton vs Wolves/City really doesn't appeal to the risks that are there.

          Game 1 + Game 2 = Gameweek score

e.g. Sane scores 15 points vs Everton and 15 vs Arsenal so gets 30 for the Gameweek.

This City DGW could be a big red herring. The title is all in Liverpool's hands, they don't have the cups distracting them and play maybe 2-3 teams at best with decent defences from now until the end of the season. Triple up on Liverpool, set and forget captain Salah and watch the points roll in IMO without having to worry about blanks! Meanwhile watch your rivals take hits to bring in likes of Sterling only for him to be dropped by Mahrez in one game, get 2 points in the other and for them to then need to get them out of their squad by GW27.

I am in exactly the same position. The only city player I am considering now is Sane.

However to get him would mean losing Hazard. I'm not losing Salah, and I bought Pogba at 7.8 and think he's a season keeper.

At the moment the two things that are edging it towards Sane for me are that Everton and Arsenal's defence are poor so I think there's a fair chance he'll outscore Gaz, and there's a fair chance of gaining 0.2 in tranfer value over the next few days. A slightly less important reason is that it means I can lose Digne to fund Son the week after.

Small margins. I will see how Haz looks tonight and decide.

Crunch week in FPL coming up...

City have lost 4 of their last 9 league games, haven’t really looked themselves of late. 3 cleansheets in 14 GW’s, and their next 4 fixtures are Arsenal, Everton, Chelsea, blank...

Champions league starting up again, they have league cup final, FA Cup, and attacking points they do score are split between Sterling, Sané, Kun, Jesus, Dilva, KDB, even Mahrez & Bilva

Is it just me or should alarm bells be ringing?

I am totally not appealed to the DGW at the moment. Everything seems to lean towards the negative column. Fixtures, form, rotation, schedule. I have 2FT and might just bring in Sane/Laporte (for Felipe/Digne) but damn I'm not even sure of those two.

The only thing is their fixtures are decent after the DGW... but their fixtures have been decent for a while & they’re not looking the same machine as last year. A lot of football still to play too

            Pog + Punch

P.S. I didn't complete the Maths tripos but Salah may be tricky to get as leaves you 0.4 for the other player

          A) Anderson Fabs> Ederson Richardson

          B) Digne Anderson Button> Ederson Beds Richardson-4

          C) Ship out Martial or Anderson for Richardson.

Have feeling tho KDB do well in DGW

Planning on getting rid of Richarlison and Kamara after the Double GW..

I could go Jota and Rondon think both with great fixtures..

I couldn't get on the site about 20 minutes after the games wrapped up, tried again a bit later and was fine. I just figured too many people checking their rank at the same time

most of their defenders are at a higher price point and the ones that aren't are rotation risks

Warnock suggested a lot of players were not right mentally.
