Good news for Salah’s Fantasy owners ahead of Gameweek 36

Fantasy managers were offered reassuring comments by Jurgen Klopp in his pre-match press conference on Thursday afternoon.

Mohamed Salah‘s midweek trip to New York and Liverpool’s forthcoming UEFA Champions League double-header against Barcelona are nagging doubts ahead of Liverpool’s appealing Gameweek 36 fixture against Huddersfield Town but Klopp was quick to pour scorn on any suggestion that he would have one eye on next week’s trip to the Nou Camp.

Klopp said:

I will not push that wrong mindset with a fresh line-up or whatever, no chance for that. We had enough time to recover from the last game, we have enough time to recover for the next game. Barcelona has nothing to do with the game on Friday.

Asked if Salah’s brief jolly to America would be an issue ahead of Friday’s match at Anfield, Klopp said:

Travelling these days is no problem any more. It would be more of a problem if his car was broken and he had to walk from here! That’s pretty comfortable.

Of course, he can miss one session [on Wednesday], that’s what he did. Today he will be in training, everything will be fine again. He’s back and everything will be fine.

The Liverpool boss meanwhile provided updates on Adam Lallana (unspecified), Fabinho (head) and Dejan Lovren (illness), saying:

All a bit questionable, we don’t know exactly at the moment. We will have to see today. Dejan trained yesterday so that’s OK, probably. The others we will have to see.

The man in the away dugout at Anfield on Friday, Jan Siewert, also held his press conference today.

Siewert confirmed that Ben Hamer (knock) and Laurent Depoitre (foot) won’t feature but Adama Diakhaby (hamstring) has had two weeks of training and could come back into contention.

Elsewhere, Richarlison (rib) is a “major doubt” for Everton’s match against Crystal Palace on Saturday.

Rounding up Everton’s injury situation on Thursday, Marco Silva said:

Lucas [Digne] is OK.

Richarlison we have big doubts about. He has tried yesterday to work with us, he felt it again. Let’s see how he will react tomorrow, today he tried again. He will be a big doubt for us, a major doubt for us.

Let’s see how Theo [Walcott] will be tomorrow because he was sick this morning.

[Yerry] Mina started [training] with the team also, beginning of the week. He is doing well and preparing well himself.

Davy Propper (hamstring) will miss Brighton’s home match against Newcastle United on Saturday but Anthony Knockaert is available after a three-match ban.

Ralph Hasenhuttl had much to clarify in his own pre-match press conference.

The Southampton boss said of his injured contingent:

Jannik [Vestergaard] not [fit], that’s for sure. Ryan Bertrand has got a hit on his ankle and is maybe also a question. Matt Targett is back in team training. Stuey Armstrong has a little problem with his hamstring.

Shane [Long] is fit, I think. He trained today, had a little problem at the end of the game against Watford, so it looks good that he can play at the weekend.

Fulham manager Scott Parker will welcome Tom Cairney (personal reasons) and perhaps Alfie Mawson (knee) back to the first-team fold this weekend.

Parker said on Thursday:

Tom Cairney will come back now that his girlfriend has given birth. There’s a slight doubt over André Schürrle due to his wife having a baby as well, but [Alfie] Mawson is back in contention. He’s been out for some time so it’s pleasing to have him back.

He came in over the summer as a big addition to the squad and has struggled a little bit with injuries but he’s been back now for the last few weeks, played a couple of under-23 games, so we’re looking forward to getting him involved, hopefully at the weekend.

The 14 remaining Premier League managers will hold their press conferences on Friday so we will bring you up to speed on any injury updates in our regular article and video round-up tomorrow.

Gtg? Anything worth a hit and bench correct?

    Ryan
    TAA, Doherty, valery
    Sterling, Mane (TC), Son, Jota
    Aguero, Vardy, Jimenez

    Gunn, Cathcart, Kolasinac, Romeu

    Thanks

The fact you have Mane TC reassures me 🙂

G2G - Valery vs catchcart vs Kola is maybe a close one

Anyone else got a feeling Firmino is due this week, seriously considering Laca to him but will cost -4 due to me doing Sterling to Mane, what you reckon?

Firmino is consistent but not explosive imo.

      “Due” isn’t a thing.

Depends how confident you are in Liverpool scoring 4 or more

I'm with you. Not sure I agree with Flapjack- Firmino is certainly capable of explosive returns, especially against Huddersfield

Also you should have a look at Firmino's recent attacking stats. Very promising

I’ve owned Firmino three times this season, I had him until my WC. I’m a huge fan of him. I just don’t think he’s explosive, he’s a more consistent type.

Just my opinion. Like I said I like the guy. But he’d never be a captain option for me for example.

He's anything but consistent. He's one of the streakiest players in the game.

3 double figure hauls all season. But plenty between 5 and 9

That doesn't mean he's consistent. Just means he's not explosive. He goes off on a long run of blanks and then on hot streaks as well. If he was consistent, he would've been in our teams more often this season. We've only started to look at him recently.

One my points was he’s not explosive 😉

And I’ve had him a lot, but I guess I’ve been lucky !

I agree he is quite consistent, but I also think he is capable of returning well vs bad teams (e.g. his hattrick earlier this season against Arsenal)

          1. Richd
            • 11 Years
            5 years, 3 days ago

Don’t forget Salah handed him the ball for the penalty to complete the hattrick 🙂

But to be fair if you could get him free I’d be saying go for it. So I’m playing devils advocate over one tiny hit.

            Go with your gut mate

      His problem is he's always capable of a GW6-12 where he'll get 13 points in 7 GW's or a GW24-29 where he'll get 12 points in 6 GW's

Having said that, I'm getting him for tomorrow - I can see a 7 or 8-0 for Liverpool - their best chance at closing the goal difference gap & they are flying to be fair

I've been mulling him over this week but have decided against. He is such a risk with both Lovren and Gomez fit and I don't want to waste 4.9mil and a liverpool slot on that

      1. Richd

I mean it’s only a Liverpool slot if you’re gonna be able to afford someone else as a third spot. Else may as well just punt with it ? My thoughts behind Matip anyway. No way I can shoehorn Salah or Robbo/VVD in without a hit

This is true. Was thinking from the perspective of my own team as I have been weighing up Matip for free or Firmino for a 4pt hit this week. Certainly worth a punt if you don't intend to use the 3rd pool slot and have defensive cover as you said

Very tempted to take Aguero out for Firmino this week. Aguero has had 1 big chance in his last six matches and I really fancy Firmino for the run in... It also allows me to get Laporte and Hazard in for Duffy and Eriksen next week...

He's in brilliant form, great fixtures, and I reckon he wants to leave Chelsea on a high (I expect these to be his last games for them before moving to RM in the summer). When Hazard has the combo of form, fixtures and motivation he can deliver huge scores and that's what I'm anticipating. The europa league doesn't worry me at all, he will start all the games from now until the end of the season imo. He's also a differential vs my main rival.

If you're chasing a high rank, Mane returns will end that dream this week as pretty much everyone in the top 10k has him and many will put the armband on him. Better to protect yourself against that and bring Hazard in next week and let him be a differential for the last couple of games.

            Some help would be appreciated!
I am 47 points behind ML leader. I have more money and therefore bought bigger names but they are not delivering eg Sterling and Salah this GW35. His differentials are delivering eg Sané and Jota this GW35.
He has copied my players where he can and so I can only gain through differentials.
What do you think I should do with my midfield? I have 1 FT. And £1m itb.
Me-Salah, Sterling, JWP, Eriksen and Son.
Him-Jota, Redmond, Sané, Eriksen and Son.
I think he will bring Mané in for a -4.

Thinking of saving this week so I have 2FT. Thoughts? If not maybe KDB > BSilva? 0m ITB. Thanks all.

            Lloris
            Laporte - Bertrand - Robbo
            Mane(C) - Son - Eriksen - Jota
            Aguero - Jimenez - Gray

            (Foster) - Duffy - Valery - KDB

RP and would really like some replies please:

            Lloris
            Doherty Laporte Yoshida
            Son Sterling Mane Deulofeu
            Jimenez Aguero Vardy

            Foster Valery Masina Romeu

            1 FT 0.7 ITB

Is Doherty >> TAA my best option, or should I do something else??

Which do you prefer for this week?

              A. Sterling/Mane (TC)
              B. Salah/Mane (TC)
              C. Salah (TC)/Mane

              1. Would it make any difference if A left me with FT & 2m in bank.

I have the same conundrum. Leaning towards A as I think Sterling will play more minutes. I know nothing!

Hard 2 call. Pool could score a bucket load, though if winning easy players will b subbed.

Starting to feel that the TC may be better on sterling vs LEI than Liverpool vs HUD. City look like the better attacking side with less fixture congestion

Think I will be putting it on either Raz or Kun that GW, though my choices are partly influenced by the fact this is the last week I can usefully use BB so Pool TC isn't an option.

If you don’t use your TC tomorrow then you’ll be watching the game from behind the sofa.

              2 questions

              1) Start Leno (lei) or Foster (WOL)

              2) Pick 2 to start:
              Jimenez
              Gray
              Jota
              Masina
              Doherty
              (Currently on Jimenez + Gray)
