Fantasy Allsvenskan: Gameweek 17

Gameweek 16 review

Another gameweek in the rear-view mirror and big scores for many managers, as Hammarby put five goals past Elfsborg with point returns from Muamer Tankovic (9.3m), Nikola Djurdjic (10.2m), Imad Khalili (6.8m) and Alexander Kačaniklić (8.5m). Another disappointing day for owners of Hammarby defensive assets however, as they again conceded twice. With a goal difference of 14-6 from the last three games, all-out attack seems to be the way Hammarby operates currently. Coach Stefan Billborn is understandably happy about the quality of the attack but says that there is a lot left to work on, as the defence is being carried by the forwards. First choice keeper Johan Wiland (4.9m) is still recovering from his shoulder injury that required surgery, if he’s not fit soon Hammarby will have to go looking for a new keeper in the transfer window.

Anders Christiansen (10.1m) provided his owners with another goal against Sirius, bringing his tally up to 6 goals from his last 6 home-games. Filip Rogic (8.2m) netted a hattrick for his Örebro side as they steamrolled Falkenberg at home, 4-0. We’ll take a deeper look at this player in the preview and try to work out if he’s on the brink of becoming a staple in our teams, or if this was just another bad day at the office for Falkenberg who look increasingly likely to crash out of Allsvenskan at the end of the season. There was another clean sheet and three points for both AIK and Djurgården, as their defensive assets continue to deliver points across the board. Marcus Danielsson (5.9m) popped up with his second goal of the season and his second 14-pointer, in just 4 GWs.

The three most popular captains in the top 1k for gameweek 16, courtesy of GoktugErce:

  1. Muamer Tankovic; Captained by 42.3%, Effective Ownership of 130.6%, scored 15 points.
  2. Anders Christiansen; Captained by 13.2%, Effective Ownership of 67.8%, scored 9 points.
  3. Nikola Djurdjic; Captained by 10.3%, Effective Ownership of 44.0%, scored 9 points.

Top 1k average gameweek-points were 81.6, compared to the overall average of 55 points.

Gameweek 17 preview

Blank GW18 is just around the corner and it’s high time to look at what blankers you want to keep in your team for this GW, and the next. AIK, Norrköping, Malmö and Sundsvall all blank in GW18. As for GW17, a lot of managers will be looking at the fixtures and noticing their players are facing each other, which rarely feels great. Falkenberg now faces two weeks essential to their survival, as back to back home-games versus bottom of the league colleges Sundsvall and Helsingborg need to be won if there is to be any hope of a crawling above the relegation spots. Given their recent away form (goal difference of 2-10), games at home appear even more important.

AIK starting eleven, rotation issues

As long as AIK keeps progressing further in the Champions League qualifiers, it seems that we’ll be stuck with a fair amount of rotation. I’ve done some digging and asked around to try to work out what their current first-choice eleven looks like, keep in mind though that this is not an exact science and perhaps even more importantly – if a player is first-choice that might just make him even more likely to be rotated for the Allsvenskan-games where coach Rikard Norling deem it possible/necessary.

Goalkeeper will always (barring injury) be Oscar Linnér (6.0m) and Swedish clubs don’t tend to rotate keepers. Firstchoice for the centre of the defence appears to be Karol Mets (6.5m), Per Karlsson (6.5m) and Daniel Granli (4.6m). The ones likely to rotate in and out are Panajotis Dimitriadis (5.5m) and Rasmus Lindkvist (6.2m). The obvious value there is Granli and he’s being snapped up in increasing numbers.

Right wingback is a semi-tricky position as there seems to be a lot of competition between Robert Lundström (6.0m) who’s getting back to fitness from a long-term injury, and Herardi Rashidi (5.7m). Anton Salétros (7.3m) is also an option, although he’s mostly preferred on the left-hand side. Salétros is currently on loan from Russian side Rostov, a loan-deal that expires on the 31st of July but AIK are keen to at least try keeping him at the clubSebastian Larsson (8.9m) can cover at a push, but neither he nor AIK really wants that to be a regular occurrence. Left wingback first choice seems to be Anton Salétros, with Rashidi second in line. Rasmus Lindkvist appears to be third choice, he’s fallen out of favour and now looks to be relegated to the role of backup.

Central midfield first choice is Enoch Kofi Adu (5.9m), Tarik Elyounoussi (9.2m) and Sebastian Larsson. Since moving back to midfield, Eyounoussi has blanked in 6 straight games (after scoring 8 goals in 5 games) and to further annoy his owners, now gets rotated in Allsvenskan in pretty much every game. Bilal Hussein (4.5m) is starting to get some game time in Allsvenskan when rotation hits, but he’s only really offering the CS point and some defensive bonus. For 4.5m at a top club, could be worse though and he’s potentially a cheeky Gustav Jarl (4.3m)-replacement for future wildcards.

Finally, strikers! There are two spots and five players vying for game-time, with three of them more likely to get it than the others. Henok Goitom (9.7m) appears to be first-choice but that (along with his age) also means he gets rotated in some of the Allsvenskan games right now. The second spot is tightly contested between Chinedu Obasi (8.5m) and Kolbeinn Sigthorsson (9.4m), with no one really the favourite as things stand. Sigthorsson has shown flashes of brilliance but is still getting back to game-fitness a bit, while Obasi seems to have been putting in some more effort now that Sigthorsson is a threat to his spot. Forward Nicolás Stefanelli (7.0m) is a bit of a dark horse, he’s back from his loan and unless he goes somewhere again, will be pushing for some game time. Last season he scored 6 goals and 3 assists (in 18 games), following 9 goals, 3 assists (in 16 games) the year before that. Because of all the options available to AIK, Tarik Elyounoussi is mostly going to be back in midfield, unless there is a serious need for rotation.

Filip Rogic, the real deal or not?

Third in the rankings for midfielders, Filip Rogic finds himself in a surprisingly low number of teams. After his GW16 hattrick, he’s now on 8 goals and 3 assists from 16 games. As far as bonus points go, he’s on 5 offensive and 5 defensive so far, often missing out on a defensive point by a margin of just one clearance or ball recovery. Of his 8 goals, only 1 has come from a penalty. However, in the popular “shots on target”-category, he’s doing worse. Out of a total 32 shots, only 11 have been on target, giving him an incredibly high conversion rate that’s quite possibly not sustainable. We’ve seen counter-points to this in FPL (Aaron Ramsey and Yaya Toure springs to mind) but overall it’s a bit worrying. Fixtures are mixed with Helsingborgs (a), Göteborg (H), Kalmar FF (a), Häcken (H) and Sirius (a).

His contract expires on the 31st of December this year, and rumours of him leaving are understandably starting to arise. He’s not doing much to dispel them either, as he was recently quoted in Örebro-TV saying “I’ll play against Falkenberg, after that we’ll see”. Örebro coach Axel Kjäll responds to the questions regarding Rogic that “there are no concrete offers as of right now, of course there is interest from other clubs. We’re working on an extension as we have been for a while and we really don’t know at this point in time, hopefully he stays but we know he has ambitions to go abroad”. Should he stay he’s definitely interesting but he needs to get more shots on target or his rate of goals will be hard to sustain.

Players to target

Alexander Kačaniklić gets the nod for the third straight week, as you really should try finding a way to get him in soon. Showing no signs of slowing down and an excellent pairing with Tankovic for Hammarby-points. Managers who are currently on Tankovic and Djurdjic will be forgiven for hesitating a bit on the treble-up, but the way Hammarby are playing right now along with their schedule, goals are likely to continue coming. Imad Khalili got the nod up front last time around and responded with two goals, should that kind of form continue he’ll be an absolute bargain at 6.8m!

Falkenberg defender Jacob Ericsson (4.8m) is interesting in the short term as his bonus-game really is outstanding (11 offensive and 9 defensive so far) along with a solid attacking threat. After the two games at home though, things get a bit more dicey with Göteborg (a), Malmö (a), Hammarby (H), Häcken (a) and Sirius (a).

The final recommendation is Elliot Käck (5.6m) who is increasingly challenging Aslak Fonn Witry (5.2m) as the most attacking fullback for Djurgården. He’s now also taking corners and in general very involved for Djurgården, who like to use him and Witry on the flanks for crosses into the box. While Witry is in 29.4% of all squads, Käck finds himself in only 4.5%.

Captaincy thoughts

It’s starting to get repetitive but you can’t really look past Muamer Tankovic, yet again. 8 goals and 7 assists from 15 games, on penalties, attacking team going up against AFC Eskilstuna. To be fair to Eskilstuna, they haven’t been horrible at home but I don’t think they’ll be able to stop an in-form Hammarby attack. Beyond that, it’s a bit slim pickings and you’d probably have the best chance of returns by just sticking it on any of Hammarby’s attacking options, with Kačaniklić and Djurdjic also options for the captaincy.

Good luck and don’t forget about the blank that’s just one GW away!

Hot off the press and already there are new developments regarding AIK's lineup, and a certain Jordan Larsson for Norrköping! https://www.aikfotboll.se/nyheter/aik-fotboll-varvar-felix-michel
    https://www.expressen.se/sport/fotboll/allsvenskan/larsson-pa-vag-bort-spelar-inte-i-kvall/

AIK sign CB Felix Michel (4.8m) from AFC Eskilstuna. What that does for rotation at the heart of the defence remains to be seen.
Jordan Larsson is very close to being sold, confirmed by Norrköping chairman. He's not featuring in tonight's European qualifier because of this and looks to be heading out within days!

What does this mean for your transfers this week? Who are you looking at as Larsson replacements?

Larsson out for me looks like the easy and sensible move! I'll wait for tomorrow, but with a blank anyway in GW18 I was already considering it

I did my transfers early doors - Tarik & Jarl out for Rogic & Baptiste

      Dahlin
      Dimitriadis Danielsson Krog-Gherson Wernersson
Rogic Kacaniklic (c) Tankovic AC Ring
      Kharashvilli

      Larsson first sub!

I'll get rid of Larsson next week but not sure who!

Cheers. Larsson/Ring out for Turay/Rogic. Not entirely convinced by either but there you go

These articles seem to get better every week. Nice work Meltens!

I'm doing Larsson to Djurdic, but which AIK defender to pick? The transfer of Michel has only made things even more complicated.

      Cheers mate, appreciate it! 🙂
With the signings of Michel and Bahoui, things are already getting more complex. Bahoui might even get some gametime as left wingback! Think that depends on Tarik and Salétros but Norling certainly has options.
Some rumours about Mets and Turkey but sporting director Björn Wesström plays them down firmly, claiming he'd be "very surprised if anything happens, I wouldn't make too much of it at all" http://www.fotbolldirekt.se/2019/07/27/502882/

I'd look at their starting lineup if it's announced pre-deadline as is customary on Twitter but I'd consider Robert Lundström if going premium. He's not on pens but otherwise more attacking than Sundgren was, in my opinion. Should be good in the coming weeks, but I'm afraid no one is really certain of avoiding rotation (and he's getting back to fitness...). Otherwise, I'd probably just save a bit and get either Granli (4.6m) or Michel (4.8m) - and take the odd rotation on the chin. I think Granli is still first-choice even with that transfer and he's good for bonus as well 🙂

Another great article! I brought in Khalili this week....... can't afford Kačaniklić for now, but will certainly think about him when I wildcard.

Here's my team for this weekend

    Abrahamsson
    Danielsson, Larson, Wernersson, Witry
    Khalili, Tankovic, Rieks, Irandust
    Kharashvilli, Jeremejeff

For what it's worth I think Khalili will be absolutely golden this week, even considering him as a short term punt myself.

So jealous you all have the easy Hammarby moves. I'm already full.

Looking like I'll go a bit big and take a slightly uneccessary hit. Best to get those out of my system before FPL starts I guess 😀

Will save my transfer this GW. There are several players I'd like to transfer out of my team, but no one I fancy getting in for this GW. Also like the idea of going into GW18 with two free transfers and more information of who's sold, suspended, still in Europe etc.

Hope it wont cost me too much, and that all of my players for GW18 stays fit and don't get themselves suspended for GW18.

Can’t figure out what to do this GW. Right now I’m between taking out Karl Larson for another def (a Göteborg def most likely), or Ring out for someone like Rogic.

      Thoughts?

      1. Bob Sacamano

Perhaps save this GW if you don't have any pressing issues? Hard to find good replacements this GW, and could be nice going into BGW18 with two free transfers. Not sure a Göteborg defender or Rogic will outscore Larsson or Ring this GW.

Yes, that's true. I guess I'm just so tired of seeing the very predictable 2 or 3 pointers for both players…

I also have Kossounou last on the bench, filling up that last Hammarby spot. Need a cheap replacement for him too.

Totally prepared to eat my words by the end of 90 mins but for once it feels good to be a Tankovic non-owner, my cup opponent has him as captain, we both have Kacaniklic but I've got Wernersson captain and brought in Djurdjic this week. Obviously not owning him so far this season is the reason I'm only at 2.7k but still having fun even when others get his monster hauls

38 points from 3 so far - cant argue with that!

Still on a red though, and a few behind my cup opponent! But plenty left to play.

That's great! I got 46 from 3 players and big red arrows all over the place, sometimes I just don't get this game. Looks like the template for the teams around me are doubble AIK defence and triple Hammarby attack, and surprisingly many captained Djurdjic.

The cup game looks identical to last week, where my ghost ship opponent starts off with a triple clean sheet but then has no Hammarby players so I go though anyway. Hope I can keep it up.

49 (-4) from 4 players and still losing ground + going out of the cup! :O
Khalili, Tankovic (C), Kacaniklic and Obasi for me, 14 points behind cup opponents Tankovic, Kacaniklic, Djurdjic (C) and Mets!

I'm going to have to get Djurdjic in and triple up on Hammarby, these riots are too much to handle with double ups!!

                1 month, 26 days ago

Yeah, with the fixtures they have a triple up seems like a good idea. I was all set to bring in Irandust for next week but I think I have to change that to Kacaniclic instead. But first, Yusuf, Jeremejeff and Calisir must get through the games tomorrow without picking up a third booking...

Got Djurdjic and Kacaniklic for a hit. Worked out well, haha. 59(-4) from 4. 11 players for free next week assuming my remaining players can avoid suspension.

Excellent play! And just enough to pass me as well. Your team looks excellent for next week too, I asume you're looking at a new keeper like Abrahamsson or Vaiho with your free transfer?

Cheers. Yes, looks good on paper. If Jeremejeff, Kharaisvili and Wernersson can stay away from a third YC I think I'll get one of them.

Have to decide when to use my WC really. If I'm WCing soon after the blank I might just get Abrahamsson for Linner, if not I'm not sure. Team looks good and particularly the Hammarby triple up looks good for a few more weeks. Might wait with my WC, and hope for some transfer carnage as most have used theirs up there (I believe)

Yeah, the second wildcard is tricky. I currently don't have enough issues to use it yet, so I might hold until around GW23 since most of my players have good fixtures until then.

Hopefully by then, a few clubs will be our of the european cups and can start focusing on Allsvenskan again. Norrköping, Häcken and Malmö have an excellent run in, so I'd like to take advantage of that. Hopefully that will mean trouble for those who played theire wildcard early. Will be intresting to see how well others are prepared for BGW18.

Yeah, hopefully we can benefit. Right now the team I would want on WC is really close to my current team, so no point using it yet.

Took a risk selling AC and Jordan Larsson for Djurdjic and Kacaniklic for a hit. AC played 90 minutes in the EL, and has an important return fix next Thursday. Next GW is a blank! Hoped for limited minutes for him, now he is actually benched! Dream scenario for me, couldn't have worked out any better

Well planned! Hadn't noticed AC's gametime in Europe, but noticed that Brorsson didn't feature which made me take a chance and start him this GW. Your midfield looks ideal for next GW, which I had that, but don't wanna ditch AC as I want him long term. 3 crosses, 5 key passes, 1 clear chance created and 4 recoveries in 32 minutes is really incredible.

Yeah, I want him back. Went upside chasing and it worked out this time.

Original plan was WC after the blank, but now I have to find a way to get him in again. Might want until after the Häcken away fix, particularly if they are still in the EL

Sounds like a good plan. With AIK and Djurgården chasing, I dont think they can afford to rotate AC too often.

I've been checking some teams on random in the top, and many of them will miss 4-5 players next week, and a lot of them have Linner/Joelsson so they will have problems to cope with.

If all my players stay fit, I'll have 10 outfield players, no keeper and 2ft. Can make Joelsson to Vaiho but then I cant afford any other decent transfer. Can also make Pettersson to Vaiho and Ring to Kacaniklic or Irandust. Currently on the Kacaniclic option.

I agree, it was mainly for this GW as I had a feeling he could be benched and then a blank.. and also a tough fixture after that.

I thought I had 10 with no keeper, but Wernersson got suspended so I'm down to 9 with a FT. Definitely replacing one of Larsson/Brorsson (leaning Larsson as he's more expensive), might consider a GK for a hit. Both Larsson and Brorsson blank in GW18 and is suspended in GW19.

I have to admit that I've done a complete turnaround today, and I'm now leaning towards selling AC. I will miss him, mainly in GW20 against Falkenberg, but I find so many other upsides to selling him. That would allow me to keep Ring for the next few games, to keep Pettersson in goal, and I could still probably afford Irandust in a few weeks time if needed. I would also have one player on the bench this GW in case it's needed, and would only have to start one of Yusuf and Jarl.

AC do have some difficult games ahead (Häcken, Djurgården, Norrköping) and that easy game against Falkenberg is between the Europa League QF3 and the play off, so with a little luck his gametime will be limited.

Only Larsson is suspended, not Brorsson, if that makes the decision any easier. I still plan to sell Brorsson in GW19 since I don't trust him starting every GW. When starting, he's excellent value for the money though.

Yes, but that farcical yellow card for Brorsson against AIK was overturned.

It was a bad challenge and a clear yellow, but the challenge was made by Larsson, not Brorsson, and the ref was at the other side of the pitch and got them mixed up. Apparently the rules say that a yellow card can be overturned, but not transfered to the player who should have got it, so Larsson got away with it and could play another 4 games before being suspended. So he should be on 4 YC and Brorsson on 2.

When the decision to overturn the card was made, GW13 was already locked so it couldn't be corrected in Fantasy.

I've had four GW ranks in the top 1k too, but I also had few average GW's in between.

How far are you from OR1?

OR38 actually after all games and all autosubs.

                                  73 points to OR1, but only 33 to OR5

Another GW, another red arrow. Down from 937 in GW13 to 1,760 after GW17. On top of that I lost to a dead team in the cup with only 10 players…How do I improve this lot?

                            Abrahamsson
                            Hodzic* - Wernersson - Larson*
                            Kačaniklić - Nalic - Tankovic - Rogic
Kharaishvili - Buya Turay - Jeremejeff
(Joelsson* - Jarl - Krogh Gerson - Kossounou*)

I want to get rid of players marked (*). I only have one FT though, so it looks like hits or WC is the only option.

Sorry to hear that! I dont think your team looks that bad overall though.

I think for this week it would be worth a -4 hit if needed to field a full eleven. A lot of people will have to do that, so a -4 this week wont be as bad as in a normal GW. I then think you should wildcard next GW in order to fully benfit from the remainig good fixtures for Djurgården, Hammarby, Göteborg and AIK. I would recommend a Hammarby triple up in attack, and to be sure to pick players who gets gametime, especially now during the european qualyfiers when players risk rotation.

I know it might be boring, but pretty much aim for the template - Wernersson, Danielsson, Tankovic, Kacaniclic, Djurdjic, Khariashvili etc. There are plenty of cheep enablers like Vaiho, Saxton, Blazevic, Da Graca, Jarl, Yusuf, Jake Larsson, Offia to free up some cash.

Yes, of all GW's this one would probably be the one where a -4 is worth it.

Totally forgot that Wernersson is suspended when I wrote this, so I'm forced to do something about the defence. I see two options right now:

                                  - Upgrade Kossounou to a 4.7 def (or less), and do Buya Turay > Djurdjic for a Hammarby triple-up. Will have to play Larson yet another GW though…

                                  - Make two defensive transfers; Krogh Gerson and Larson out for Häcken, Djurgården or Göteborg options.

I'm reluctant to take hits, so if you could field 11 players by using just your free transfer I think thats better. Not taking -4 when many others do is an advantage in itself.

Since I recommended you to wildcard next GW and do just one FT this GW, you could take Gerson out for pretty much any defender you like as a one week punt. Maybe someone like Käck or Danielsson?

That's true, and something I'm definitely considering.

Krogh Gerson is probably the most likely to be transferred out if I settle on not taking a hit. Who would you prefer out of Danielsson or Käck? I haven't seen much of Djurgården this season.

Ooo, thats a really difficult pick, I honestly dont think I can do it because they are so close.

Theire bonus stats are basicly the same, but Käcks are split between attacking and defensive bonus while Danielssons is purely defensive bonus. Danielsson is a threat on set pieces, while Käck are on corners, and most of the attack come from the left wing. Käck makes a lot of key passes and crosses, while Danielsson is almost a guarante for 2 defensive bonus points.

Käck is a little cheaper, but is on 2 YC. Käck is on 5.9% ownership and Danielsson on 27.6% so it depends on if you're chasing or not.

After writing all this, perhaps I see a slight edge for Danielsson 🙂

By the end (before that last line) I was thinking "It got to be Danielsson", haha!

I am chasing by this point, but I feel that "coverage" of highly-owned players is still important, so that edges it for me.

                                              Thanks for the info. 🙂

I have a disaster of a team now for GW18 with Wernersson suspended!

I'm missing Dahlin, K-Gerson, Dimitradis, Wernersson, AC, Larsson

I'll have to play Baptiste & Bjorkman, so looking at taking a -12

Hoping to bring in Khalili, Andersson, Jeremjeff & Abrahamsson - but, debating saving the 12 points and just doing one transfer in the hope those extra players dont score 12 - but Hacken have Sirius (h) so they probably will and they have some good fixtures coming up too so might be worth the hit

Might be a very boring answer but remember that every player you transfer in for a -4p must get you at least 4p for the transfer to pay off. With that in mind, I dont think its worth taking to many hits. Just look and see if you can find transfers that could earn you points this week already.

As for Häcken, I can only repeat what I wrote ahead of Malmö-Sirius the other week. Sirius are a MUCH better team away from home, with only 6 goals conceded from 8 games and that includes trips to Malmö, AIK, Hammarby and Norrköping. Häcken have an important second leg against Alkmaar just days before the Sirius game, so expect tired legs and/or rotation. Jeremejeff and Abrahamsson are safe to start, but the rest could easily be rotated. That said, I'm not gonna pretend that I'm not worried about not owning Irandust 😉

With the bonus system in this game defenders and creative players often get 3-4 points even without CS/attacking returns. If you can't field 11 it might be worth to take hits to field 11, especially if it's moves benefitting your team long term as well. Won't be a better week.

I know this has nothing to do with Allsvenskan, but are you interested to play FPL Draft in a "FFS Allsvenskan League"?

I've set up a classic league with 8 teams. The draft takes place on Wednesday, August 7th, at 8 pm UK time.

                                    The enter code is 187871-49233.
