The headline FPL team news from Thursday’s press conferences

There were nine Premier League manager press conferences held on Thursday ahead of the start of the 2019/20 campaign.

The headline team news came from Liverpool, where Jurgen Klopp provided fairly positive news on Sadio Mane (£11.5m) ahead of Friday’s encounter with Norwich City.

Klopp said:

Looks fit. Yesterday was his first session with the team. Yesterday now with the team first time, looks absolutely OK, in good spirits. Yes he’s an option, but we will see.

The Reds’ boss said of James Milner (£5.5m):

Millie trained yesterday with the team, 100%. He will be fine.

The Reds opponents have problems at centre-half, with stoppers Christoph Zimmermann and Timm Klose (£4.5m) sidelined for Gameweek 1.

Defensive midfielders Alex Tettey and Ibrahim Amadou (both £4.5m) are also unavailable for tomorrow’s encounter.

On the subject of newly promoted clubs, Sheffield United manager Chris Wilder revealed a clean bill of health at today’s presser.

Dean Smith only ruled out James Chester (£4.5m), meanwhile, as Villa prepare to take on Spurs.

Robbie Brady (£5.5m) looks set to miss out for Burnley against Southampton, whose manager Ralph Hasenhuttl didn’t disclose any injury concerns.

Gerard Deulofeu (£6.5m) was passed fit by Javi Gracia but Danny Welbeck (£6.0m) won’t be ready to feature against Brighton.

The Seagulls will be without Jose Izquierdo (£5.5m) and Yves Bissouma (£5.0m).

Mark Noble (£5.0m) hasn’t recovered from a dead leg in time to face Manchester City but Lukasz Fabianski (£5.0m) is fit to face the reigning champions.

We’ll have updates on Friday’s 11 press conferences in advance of the 19:00 BST deadline.

      I’ve got Greenwood and Rico. Gwood is bench fodder. This is the time of the year when we tend to leave a lot of points on the bench as we do not know the form.

        Thanks. The idea is to phase in the chelsea lads gw2 (one defender at least) and the two of them gw3 in particular as they will face Norwich.

        I think TAA will be playing as winger for most of the Norwich game. Can't get out of my head how he hoovers up those bonus with his assists - Think it will be similar to the Liverpool 5 Huddersfield 0 game

        Thanks. That is part of my thinking most of the RMT's and 'experts' seem to going. own the similar routes = similar scores.

        I am going for options that I think are a feasible way to get points - but still keep a strong bench.
        This give options and stay ahead of the pack (if it works)
        If it does not I doubt I will fall that far behind.

        In previous years most community scores are in the 50's anyway in gw1

        Most of the time TC is about 15 extra anyway.
        It is not as good a chip as it is made out to be.

        If a person thinks Salah will go mad v Norwich they should go TC

          Exactly, massively over-rated chip. We were spoilt by it in the early days when Kun and Sanchez (I think) both went nuts in a double gameweek.

            Yeah it was Sanchez I used it on Sterling last year and got 9 points after trebling.
            Then left it C him and he scored 21 points the next game!
            So even then I only really lost out on 18 points.
            Not a lot relative to the whole season.

        Make your own decisions. If he does well tonight you'll be kicking yourself.

        Yes Liverpool might have a double this season, but it might be a rubbish double, and Salah could be injured or out of form.

        Some of the people telling you to save it for a double will have got a Sane one-pointer from their triple captain chip last season.

    It’s no myth. Late transfers really does equate to rushed prices. Sarr (Sky) and Cancelo (FPL) beyond belief. The latter will be in EVERY wildcard
