Who are the best FPL captain candidates for Gameweek 15?

Fantasy Premier League managers have yet another captaincy decision to make as the midweek Gameweek 15 approaches.

Starting on Tuesday night, the latest round of action pits Liverpool against Everton, Manchester City against Burnley and Leicester against Watford.

As per usual, the Captain Sensible article is here to help you make the right choice for the armband using a comparison of the in-form players and their upcoming opponents.

As this piece uses data from the Fantasy Football Scout Members Area, only those signed up for the 2019/20 can access it in full.

Captain Poll

Jamie Vardy (£9.9m) has absolutely decimated the captain poll for Gameweek 15, with a humongous 58% share of the vote.

Perhaps we should not be too surprised by such support given that the Leicester forward last blanked in Gameweek 8 and has eight goals in six matches since then.

The fact that Watford come to the King Power Stadium directly after losing a second manager this season probably does not help their cause, but may play into Vardy’s hands. Furthermore, Watford may also have to field another line-up short of key defensive personnel.

A long way off in second place is Wilfried Zaha (£6.6m) who has amassed just 6.4% of the vote.

The Crystal Palace man has scored in each of his last two outings, against Liverpool and Burnley and this week faces Bournemouth.

The Cherries have lost their last three matches on the spin, conceding at two goals or more to Newcastle, Wolves and Tottenham.

Sadio Mané (£12.2m) is looking at a third-place finish in the captain poll but is still only being considered by 4.4% of the voters.

The Liverpool man blanked at Anfield for the first time since Gameweek 3 on Saturday afternoon and faces Everton on Wednesday night.

The Toffees have conceded twice in three of their last five matches and continue to be plagued by rumours over the future of manager Marco Silva.

Mohamed Salah (£12.2m) will also likely be involved in the Merseyside derby but has been given backing for the captaincy by just 2.9% after his latest blank.

Kevin de Bruyne (£10.2m) is the most popular Manchester City option on the back of two goals in two for the midfielder.

With Pep Guardiola’s men travelling to Burnley, the Belgian has been backed by 4.1% of voters, while Raheem Sterling (£11.9m) is supported by just 3.3%.

His goal at Newcastle was the first since Gameweek 10, so it may still take a little while before Fantasy managers trust Sterling en masse again.

Two goals for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (£10.9m) in the 2-2 draw with Norwich has helped him achieve the support of 3.7% for the Gameweek 15 captaincy.

Arsenal host a Brighton side that has conceded twice or more in six out of their last eight matches. They are especially porous away from home, having let in a total of 13 goals on the road so far. Only five teams have allowed more.

Christian Pulisic (£7.5m) may have two blanks in a row but he still has more goals and points than any other Chelsea player since Gameweek 10.

That’s why he is the most fashionable of his colleagues for the Gameweek 15 captaincy with the support of 2.1% ahead of Aston Villa’s trip to Stamford Bridge.

The Villans have let in two or more goals in five of their seven away matches so far this season and in each of their last three consecutive road trips.

Raúl Jiménez (£7.7m) and Alexandre Lacazette (£9.3m) are the only other options with more than 1% backing.

Ya agreed. MO to Mane has been on my mind alright. I might give Mo Everton & Bou and then offload before his blank to maybe Sterling. Bring Mane back in for the Xmas period.

0.2m off having the ideal team. As always.

I want Dele but the only way I can get him is by downgrading Tomori to a 3.9m. For next week. Worth it? Really not happy about having a 3.9m non-playing fodder. Just 0.2m and I'd be able to get Kelly...

        There isn't. I've looked.

        Gazzaniga Button
        TAA Soyuncu Lundstram Rico Tomori
        Mane KdB Martial Pulisic Son
        Vardy Abraham Connolly

        0.1m

So the plan is Martial + Tomori > Alli + 3.9m. I really do want that 0.2m but nowhere else to get it. I'm giving Pulisic 3 more weeks and no where else can I get the funds needed to do Martial > Alli.

If the rest are all playing, it is usually okay to have one 3.9 non-playing bench.

yea i think you dont need the whole bench playing until the bb on a dgw. yes there will be loads of rotations happening over xmas but its still likely rested players will still play a part off the bench so youre more likely to get cameos from currently nailed players anyway

It is worth watching but I think it depends on your own habits - scorcese loves a long stretch and in a way it allows a fair bit of development but I think it could easily have been 45m shorter or split into a two parter. Good for sure - not his best work.

There's been plenty of precedent this season that they won't let underpriced players fall too much due to injury. It's just ignorance to expect otherwise at this point.

Underpriced or wrongly priced from the start, FPL towers then manually manipulating price falls so that while ownership goes down the price don´t. That way they kind of "correcting" the error and if he then continues to deliver when he returns from injury then his price will sky rocket up to 8.5 territory. If hed´gone down in price according to fall in ownership then they can´t bring him back higher than say 8 again as many teams now dead and not making any transfers, this is injury related. That´s why Mount has fallen quickly because he´s not injured but while his price initially seemed too low we´we now seen that it might not be that wrong, hence the fast drop.
Getting annoyed by this is understandable but knowledge about how this things work maybe helping?

Either of these moves worth it this week?

      A: Sterling + Tielemans – KDB + Alli -4
      B: Rashford + Tielemans – Mousset + Alli -4

      I kind of think not!

Is the move from Soy to Pereira rational in the next few if I’m sitting on 106 TV and have massive benching headache in front 8?

(Really meant to get Pereira in first place and feel confident he’ll end up among top 3/4 defenders)

See why you say that but suspect the difference between them will widen - it’s already a healthy 12 points.

Things can change of course but not sure I’m going to need the extra funds up top for a while.

Yes, absolutely if you don't have a LEI def asset, no brainer. At 5.3 is no longer a bargain but all the others (except for Evans) have gone up a lot as well so...
