FPL Gameweek 11 round-up: Sunday’s goals, assists, bonus and injuries

Mohamed Salah (£13.0m) bagged his eighth assist of the season on Sunday, as Michail Antonio (£8.2m) produced another Fantasy Premier League (FPL) blank.

Raphinha (£6.6m), Emile Smith Rowe (£5.7m), Jarrod Bowen (£6.3m), Pablo Fornals (£6.0m) and Harvey Barnes (£6.5m) all delivered attacking returns in a good day for mid-price midfielders, while Trent Alexander-Arnold (£7.7m) recorded his fourth double-digit haul of the campaign courtesy of a goal and assist.

Our usual, more detailed Scout Notes will follow for all of the day’s games but in the meantime, our resurrected Scoreboard series rounds up the key goings-on from the day’s Gameweek 11 fixtures.

GOALS, ASSISTS, PROJECTED BONUS

FPL Gameweek 11 round-up: Sunday’s goals, assists, bonus and injuries 1

INJURIES AND BANS

Thomas Partey (£5.0m) was a surprise omission for Arsenal today, with Ainsley Maitland-Niles (£5.3m) replacing him in the starting XI.

The Gunners have since revealed that the 28-year-old midfielder missed the match due to a groin issue, though it has been suggested that the injury isn’t a serious one.

Kieran Tierney (£4.8m), meanwhile, returned to the bench after recovering from an ankle injury.

Elsewhere, Juraj Kucka (£5.5m) and Mason Holgate (£4.2m) were both sent off for Watford and Everton respectively and will now serve bans, as will Oliver Skipp (£4.5m), who picked up his fifth booking of the season at Goodison Park today.

GAMEWEEK 11 TAKEAWAYS

  • Antonio Conte’s first Premier League game in charge of Tottenham Hotspur ended in a goalless draw against Everton. Sergio Reguilon (£5.0m) was given license to regularly join the attack in the Italian’s 3-4-3 formation (see below), and probably should have scored just before the break after an excellent Harry Kane (£12.2m) pass. As for the England captain, he was once again starved of service, and ended the match with just 18 final-third touches and a single shot in the box. Following today’s draw, Spurs have now failed to register an effort on target in consecutive Premier League games, though their immediate schedule should at least hand them an opportunity to improve in the coming weeks.

Tottenham Hotspur sit top of our Season Ticker for ease of fixture between Gameweeks 12 and 15

Tottenham Hotspur’s average position map v Everton in Gameweek 11, featuring the advanced Sergio Reguilon (no. 3)

  • Following today’s narrow 1-0 win over Watford, Arsenal’s unbeaten run now stretches to 10 matches in all competitions. Their goal arrived via Emile Smith Rowe, who has now scored in three consecutive Gameweeks and has four goals and two assists in his last six Premier League games. Elsewhere, it was a day to forget for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (£10.1m), who would have bagged an assist had Bukayo Saka’s (£6.3m) early strike not been disallowed, while he also had a goal ruled out himself, missed a penalty and picked up a booking. As a result, he ended Gameweek 11 on -1 FPL points. At the other end of the pitch, Aaron Ramsdale (£4.7m) recorded his fifth clean sheet of the season and picked up a bonus point despite making just one save.
  • With Robert Sanchez (£4.6m) missing Gameweek 12 through suspension, many FPL managers will turn to budget stopper Ben Foster (£4.1m) in goal. The veteran keeper saved a penalty and collected maximum bonus today, though Watford remain without a single clean sheet all season and have a nightmare schedule between now and Gameweek 15.
  • Raphinha has now scored five of Leeds United’s 11 Premier League goals this season, with his deliveries from wide areas again causing plenty of problems today. The Brazilian now embarks on a tougher schedule (see below), though it’s hard to argue against the value on offer right now. However, if FPL managers do fancy a change, there are certainly plenty of in-form alternatives around the same price, including Conor Gallagher (£5.8m), Wilfried Zaha (£6.9m) and Emile Smith Rowe.

Leeds United are bottom of our Season Ticker for ease of fixture between Gameweeks 12 and 19

  • After today’s loss at the London Stadium, Liverpool’s 25 game unbeaten run is now over. Despite that, Mohamed Salah’s assist means that he has now delivered five in a row, though he is without a goal in his last three appearances in all competitions, while Trent Alexander-Arnold bagged a goal and assist, and now sits second in the defender standings, despite missing two games through illness and injury respectively.
  • Michail Antonio has done some excellent point dodging over the last two Gameweeks, having failed to record a goal or assist despite West Ham hitting seven past Aston Villa and Liverpool combined. Meanwhile, the Hammers’ have been dangerous on set-pieces all season and showed exactly why in Gameweek 11, with two of their three goals arriving from corners. As a result, Jarrod Bowen has now provided at least a goal or assist in six of his last seven appearances, with only Salah posting a superior expected goal involvement (xGI) total during that time.

The impressive Jarrod Bowen ranks second amongst all players for xGI since Gameweek 5

  • It’s only Gameweek 11, but so far five Premier League managers have already lost their jobs this term: Daniel Farke, Nuno Espirito Santo, Steve Bruce, Xisco Munoz and now, Dean Smith. Notably, there had been just one sacking at the same stage of the 2020/21 season. As for Smith, the former Brentford man was appointed in October 2018, and helped Aston Villa earn promotion back to the Premier League in his first season in charge of the club. However, in his third campaign, a run of five straight losses – the last of which came at Southampton on Friday – led the hierarchy to make a change.

“After a good start to last season, this year we have not seen the continuous improvement in results, performances and league position which we have all been looking for.

For this reason, we have decided to make a change now to allow time for a new head coach to make an impact.” – Aston Villa CEO Christian Purslow

STAT WATCH – GAMEWEEK 11

Daniel James (£6.0m) tops the Gameweek 11 shots count, just ahead of team-mate Rodrigo (£6.3m), Leandro Trossard (£6.4m), Demarai Gray (£5.7m) and Sergi Canos (£5.5m). However, it is worth noting that only three arrived in the box, with his 0.21 expected goals (xG) total trumped by 29 other players this weekend.

Elsewhere, only Callum Hudson-Odoi (£5.3m) could better Jarrod Bowen’s two big chances created total in Gameweek 11, though the West Ham man did come out on top for expected assists (xA), with +1.71.

3 weeks in a row red arrow smh..I actually thought I'd do well this week with my players and fixtures.

    Sanchez,
    TAA, Rudiger, White
    Salah, Raphina, Saka, Foden,
    Antonio, Jimi, Kane

Foster, Coady, Allan, Williams. 0.6 ITB

What areas do I need to improve?

Very nice team you just need some luck and patience I think. I would consider Rudiger to James or Chilwell.
I think both represent great value and Cancelo is different class too.
I love a back 4 with TAA and those 3 but it does come with some rotation risks. A big downgrade on someone like Antonio would allow you get there over a few weeks but you would need an Antonio back for GW18 plan.

Thanks for the feedback man. Cancelo seems to be a must own this season. Gonna have to downgrade one of the strikers it seems. Kane is really pricey and keeps blanking too..

I would prefer Son over Kane. But if I had Kane I wouldn’t sell until we see how if goes under Conte. Neither Antonio orJimmy are in great form so that is where I would try to find some cash. It’s frustrating spending big money on these high cost defenders when they don’t get an attacking return and lose a CS late on but the weekS they click there can be monster hauls. Overall I think they represent so much value I am going to try to have them all.

I like Kane over Son because pens. Spurs have some good fixtures coming up and Conte as you said. Going to give it some more time. Jimi has returned a decent amount past 4/5 weeks tbf.

My FPL account has been hacked and I found that I have been excluded from all of the leagues and my mini leagues. My team is still there but the points that I got from this week is not added to my total points anymore. Is there any way to restore my account? Already sent email to FPL just now.

What are your thoughts on Spurs assets to have?

Kane and Son both looked underwhelming against Everton and still can't decide who is the better option to have for the next 4. Its also very difficult to trust the defence.

While the upcoming fixtures are kind, I still suspect it may take Conte a while to eradicate the decline and stink that has plagued Spurs over the last couple of seasons

I think Son for now and see how they go. Checkout last weeks FPLWire they got into a lot of detail on this topic and it was very informative.
They were thinking Regullion could be a really good option as wing backs do so well in Conte‘s teams - they had some detail stats to back this up too.
But of course the question in without a pre season how quickly he can change things up.

Nice that they get the IB now - at least he can learn peoples names.

Depending on who travels or not I might get into someone - most likely Son like everyone else says. Reggie makes me think of Digne which makes me not want him. But maybe he’ll actually be good?

Ugh I had Digne for the first 8 weeks and don't wanna go down that road again.

I do like Reggie though but my defence is stacked with better and more reliable defenders.

I think defence may be safer investment initially - expect Conte to focus on setting them up to not concede. He has a proven track record at doing that successfully.

Son+Kane wise it's hard to say. Possible that they can both bang immediately after IB but like all choices it's a risk.

I am umming and arring too myself. It's either:

      A) Son + £7.7m fwd
      Or
      B) Ronaldo + £5.5m mid

      1. House Frey Wedding Planner
        • 5 Years

I'm leaning towards Kane myself but mainly because it's easier to move to Ronaldo after gw15 from Kane than it is from Son.

Feels like a weak reason though considering how off form Kane has been and Son still among the top points scorers despite not looking as effective as previous season.

I didn't think it would be a quick fix under Conte, considering how Spurs have been playing prior to his appointment this season.
Maybe the international will provide some assistance but then again a lot of players will be away on international duty.

I owned Son at the beginning of the season (traded him out during the first IB when he picked up an injury) but nothing to me since has made me want to target Spurs, yet.

    5. DycheDycheBaby

Might just get Son and then pray. They are so underwhelming at the moment and it's a gamble to go with any of their players.

Leeds are conceding on average 1 goal a game across their last 7 fixtures albeit many would argue a 'favourable' run.
I'm not exactly sure of the statistics surrounding this but I would imagine this is somewhat of a greater focus as they can't simply rely on outscoring the opposition at the moment.

Nevertheless, I didn't watch Spurs vs. Everton and I don't own any Spurs assets.

Only conceded more than one once out of the last seven - and that was 2 to WHU.

Their games always seem on the cusp of lots of goals but don’t quite get there. Not sure Spurs are going to be too interested in attacking too much themselves either.

I have a bunch of money and 1 ft that I want to try and use aggressively.
Looking at the fixtures Man City hind tj Everton seems juicy, or maybe Man U way to Watford - but I don’t really want any of their attackers long term.

Foden is probably the best bet for City, could also do Jesus. (Already have Cancelo).

I wish there wasn’t a break - I’m excited by the prem and fpl right now.

City is definitely worth jumping on now. Only issue though is their attackers seem to share the points.

Utd have an excellent upcoming fixture run after gw13 and jumping on the Watford fixture could pay off.

    Is this worth -8?

Jeez, that's tough, as most people would have Foster/Steele.
I'd prefer to not take that big of a hit.

For instance, a thought for me would be, does Foster score 4 or more points against United?
Otherwise, you could be better off just taking a 0 in the GK position.

        Yeah got 3 options really

Ft for foster (-4 Cancelo next gw)

Got it. Still not sure the keeper move is worth it. If he gets a 2 pt return, which is a good chance, then you’ll have to take the -4 after. It’s only one game.

I’d consider rolling the transfer, and then you can do Cancelo for free the week after!

His pricing has made him a no go. If he was same as Son, I would much prefer him over Son.

Not explosive but 6goals and 1assist is a decent return till now.

I said this on a previous thread.
He seems to have a knack for scoring when he is not at his highest ownership.

I can definitely see him going on a run post gw12. I know it's not a logical reason to keep but at this stage, I will be.

Yeah, those upcoming fixtures look quite tasty, but I've been burned by Vardy season after season. The moment I get him in, he goes cold and stops returning. It's really frustrating.
Also feel Wilson may be able to match him over the next 3-4 GWs. Allows me to use the funds elsewhere.

Sadly there really hasn't been any attractive striker options. I'm sticking with Jimenez and Armstrong for awhile myself and I'm contented with the returns they've provided.

          If you're committed to playing 352 or 442, I guess I'd save that 0.5m from Broja to a 4.5m

On a related note, does Pukki entice you? 😀

Would avoid Broja personally as see no point in a non-nailed bench option. Don't see that changing given Soton have too many options.

Would get Jesus, ditch Bilva and get nailed 4.4/4.5 in midfield.

King is the same price and nailed.

You could fo course get a non nailed option up top and hope that when you need him he gets minutes. I simply prefer to make sure when I get someone in that bracket they are worth 2 points if they come on. 2 points is what you generally budget for in that category no?

Then Son's covid news resulted to changing him to Foden which seems to be a blessing.

Gallagher had arsenal city and wolves in 3 of first 4 gws and ESR just returned in only 1 game prior to gw8.

Second underwhelming GW from Salah (as in, not a massive haul)

My GW12 VC options are Son, Cancelo, Foden and Jesus. Antonio and Livra feel like a bit of a stretch, so I'll just be happy to own. Currently leaning Son VC

GW13 VC is Son again. Not excited about City vs West Ham or Chelsea vs Man U. Definitely not (vice) capping Hwang. That might actually easily be a low scoring GW for me, unless Chelsea wingbacks embarrass Ole and the Hammers match is as lively as the one Liverpool

        No mid-priced mids here

Yeah but minor damage. My captain blanked so I was just lucky this gameweek to have a little green arrow.

One has to target the right gameweeks to pick a different captain apart from Salah otherwise there could be no major rank gain

I've had major rank gains with Salah (C), still. I just went up by 200k this GW. Planning other moves with Salah staying, like changing keepers (none is fixture-proof, and people still refuse to see this) and switching other premiums around with fixtures, while also keeping a nailed XI, one good sub, and two 4.5s. Also about to start Livra the second game in a row

Such a negative butterfly effect from one Levy/City decision:

If City got Kane, he'd have left Son as the Spurs striker (OOP, good for FPL)

Spurs could have used those funds on wingers and a CAM

City wouldn't have needed Grealish, keeping him and Smith at Villa, in an improving squad which was settled and doing well

Kane as the motivated City striker, with Foden/Sterling and Jesus/Mahrez on the wings

We got something quite close to the worst case scenario for the three clubs involved

What's to say City still wouldn't have got Grealish?

Want a way to get rid of Vardy and go CR7 soon but not sure on the best play.

Jimenez gw15 but that would delay getting CR7.
