FPL Gameweek 19 Scout Picks: City triple-up against injury-hit Leicester

We have chosen our best Fantasy Premier League (FPL) players for Gameweek 19 ahead of Sunday’s 13:30 GMT deadline.

We’re already three fixtures down for the Boxing Day matches, with the postponement of Liverpool v Leeds United depriving us of the services of Mohamed Salah (£13.1m) and Trent Alexander-Arnold (£8.3m) for the first time in a while.

We have gone for a 4-5-1 formation this week and, as ever, we are limited to an £83.0m budget for our starting XI.

Our four substitutes, meanwhile, are chosen from the budget/mid-price crop of players to give some potentially cost-effective alternatives to the big hitters who invariably make the initial cut.

GOALKEEPER

Norwich City are the division’s lowest scorers with a paltry eight goals in 17 matches and even the change in head coach hasn’t really addressed that weakness, with Dean Smith’s side finding the net on just one occasion in the last five league fixtures. A Covid outbreak isn’t likely to do the Canaries’ preparations any good, either, so Aaron Ramsdale (£5.1m) wasn’t a difficult pick this week. As well as the opposition, he is also in on his own merit: he has the highest points-per-match average (5.1) of any first-choice goalkeeper this season and has prevented more ‘expected goals’ (4.2) than any other shot-stopper bar Jose Sa.

    Getting pretty close to committing to

    Salah + Dennis > Ronaldo (c) + 6.3 (-4)

    Gets me to 12 active for the week which I think I’ll need (someone will rest/miss out).

    6.3 mids….not convinced on Arsenal players now, their fixtures turn soon.

    Already have Gallagher.

    a/ Ramsay (love Villa fixtures after Chelsea - super cheap)
    b/ ESR/ Saka/ Martinelli - could do one this week and bench for their tough run coming up if need be.
    c/ Trossard - good fixtures, just don’t trust Brighton to score enough
    d/ Dele - good fixtures - will he get forward enough and hold his place?

    I’m lost who to pick.

      Was pretty set on Salah/Dennis to Ronaldo/Martinelli myself, but not so sure anymore. Think both Ramsey and McGinn could be good picks from Villa going forward.

    Which one is better for FH? Fwiw Ronaldo and Son are given.

    B. KDB (double up with another city mid or Rashford)
    C. Get both KDB & Kane (meaning downgrading defence a bit like Regs to Davies or replace James)

            Yes I have both but I feel having Dalot on bench is a waste, and also a sneaky feeling that Crystal Palace can give Spurs a hard time like what they did to City, hence I am not comfortable having 2 attackers against them. What do you think of the draft?

        I'm in a similar position. 5 out through postponements and question marks over Antonio, foden and tomiyasu. Kind of want to start building towards a GW22 squad but I'll likely need a -12 minimum and will still probably get killed by FH squads

          It will be an easy FH if you still want your players (who are currently not playing) in GW20..

          But the decision will be a lot more difficult to make if you have players like Mbeumo, Livramento, and Benteke (on top of 3 LIV players and Dennis) to deal with

      Not good especially if you take a look at the fact that you have 6 players from teams that have been talked about as next games that might get postponed. But at this point who doesn't have many players from those teams. I have 4.

      You might get away with one transfer .But yeah taking a -4 in your current situation might not be a bad idea as well. So 1-2 transfers should get you into better position for GW 19.

      I would Transfer out Salah as one of those transfers but keep enough in the bank so you can get him back next GW if needed. I myself plan to trade him for Son or KDB and then VC them in case Man united game next day gets postponed. Ronaldo (C)

    Help on FH rules please?

    Does your transfer stack? So will you have 2 FTs after the free hit?

    If not, Is it safe to think that using my transfer, and THEN using a free hit is the way to go? That way when the team reverts, it will revert back with the transfer made instead of losing it for good?

      If those 9 actually play no need to FH in my opinion. f needed you could take even one more hit.

      But if anymore miss out only option would be FH. Although I think you can get more out of FH's if you use them later in the season on a normal GW( without so many covid cases) or on DGW's.
