Suspensions

Which FPL players are nearing a two-match ban?

It’s been a while since we brought you a Suspension Tightrope article but with a handful of Fantasy Premier League (FPL) players nearing 10 yellow cards, it’s worth reminding ourselves of the repercussions for anyone who reaches this unwanted target.

WHAT WILL HAPPEN IF A PLAYER GETS 10 YELLOW CARDS?

Dennis sent off as Watford collapse in FPL Double Gameweek 23 opener 2

Any Fantasy asset who collects 10 cautions in the Premier League before their team has completed 32 fixtures will serve a two-match ban in the same competition.

Beyond that point, the threshold moves up from 10 to 15 bookings. Anyone reaching that tally will be banned for three matches.

Punishments for yellow card accumulation are competition-specific, whereas suspensions for dismissals cover all competitive matches.

PLAYERS ON 8/9 YELLOW CARDS

There isn’t a great deal to worry most Fantasy managers just yet, as all of the above players have an ownership under 5% in FPL.

Matthew Cash (£5.1m), the third most-bought defender of Gameweek 28, is on the above table, however, as is semi-popular bench fodder option Josh Brownhill (£4.3m).

Among the cluster of FPL assets on seven bookings are Emmanuel Dennis (£6.1m), James Tarkowski (£4.9m) and Bruno Fernandes (£11.7m).

WHEN ARE THE CUT-OFF POINTS FOR SUSPENSIONS?

As we mentioned in the introduction, the yellow card threshold is raised to 15 after a team’s 32nd league fixture.

That doesn’t necessarily mean Gameweek 32, however. In fact, for many clubs, this will mean Gameweek 33 or later due to the backlog of postponed fixtures – and there’ll be more of those to come in Gameweek 30 thanks to the clash with the FA Cup quarter-finals.

Keep your eyes peeled on our Suspension Tightrope widget on our home page over the coming weeks and months, as we’ll be updating that after every Gameweek to keep you informed on the latest disciplinary developments.

The ref in the Everton City match should be nearing a two match ban, minimum.

Funny how Chelsea always win their European finals comfortably. But in domestic finals, they always get screwed over by the refs

hi guys thoughts on the moves below for -8 (and potential BB):

    dalot -> saiss
    bowen -> raph
    edouard -> adams

would likely give a BB of sanchez - vvd - saka - tierney

See my post below I think I am going to take hits to get Coutinho, Broja/Adams, and possibly a Chelsea player if the double is announced.

I'd save WC and maybe take a hit, Bruno out to Coutinho with a view to upgrading a striker to Kane next week?

Would you WC this lot? 1 FH, WC & BB left. Take a -8 rather than WC?

    Foster*
    Cash* Livramento* TAA VVD Cancelo
    Salah Saka Moura
    Ronaldo Dennis*

    Ramsdale D.Luiz* Bowen Weghorst

Only 1 FT & 1 mill ITB. Moura and Ronaldo out? If Chelsea double I'd like to get one of them in but my defence is in good shape?

Not too sure about him, didn't have him myself but remember a lot of people here having him for ages earlier in the season and being quite frustrated with him, and his goal last week came from a mistake.

For those chasing in their ML, is it time to start playing aggressively?

For example, I'm chasing someone and we both own Robbo. Was set on taking a hit this week for DGW players. Would it be a good move to bring in James for Robbo for an extra hit? Would allow me to bring in a Pool attacker for the double instead double defense. Thoughts?

    1. Nate(U)dog(ie)
      • 3 Years
      2 years, 2 months ago

Unless you're bringing in Mane the chances are whichever forward you bring in may be rotated (and even he may be rotated). Liverpool have a good record v Brighton and Arsenal but they're generally solid defensively so they may be tight games and Robbo has been in top form of late. I don't think it's worth it. Chasing is understandable but you're in a good position to have him and may lose out by dropping him

      1. Tcheco

Actually I was wrong about their record v Brighton, they actually haven't beaten them in their last 3 games against them so it might be another reason to hope for a clean sheet rather than attacking return

Assuming you're not going to touch either of them until end of season, then B - as he meshes nicely with Ramsdale's tougher fixtures. A means you are facing one of the Manchester clubs in 34 - plus also think Ramsdale's single in 28 is probably more likely to score high than Foster's double.

Hello everyone! Really struggling on what to do this week..

Still got WC but don't think that is worth it. Maybe Antonio to Broja/Adams or Dawson to Rudiger/Wolves defender?

    Foster, (Ramsdale)
    TAA, Robbo, Cancelo, Livra, (Dawson)
    Salah, Coutinho, Raph, Saka, Bowen
    Dennis (Antonio), (DCL)

I can't do it this week but I am beginning to contemplate it. That being said I do expect the odd rotation with Kepa which may be in the easier games so I'm not sure, there are a good few cheaper options that are very good and their outfielders have more upside

A bit early perhaps but for those still with TC are you considering using it next week? I feel like it could be a pivotal week, contemplating using it on Kane with his form especially away from home. But even not going with Salah(C) let alone TC could be a big mistake even though on paper their fixtures are tough

I forgot to activate the tc chip in 26..on a wc this week could either setup for a BB 29 squad or a weaker bench with tc 29 and bb 36..think even with tc Salah would be the obvious choice for me

How many points do we think constitutes a successful bench boost? Had limited success in the past with it, and because I have no wildcard left, finding the right week to do it could be a challenge. Mid twenties or higher?

This week I'd have: De Gea, Lamptey, Dennis*, Bowen (could change to Raph for another DGW)

My experience tells me not to give a second thought to BB when setting up WC. Except maybe for getting a 2nd playing keeper.

What’s peoples take on Ait-Nouri then?

    A) Had his rest midweek and will be back starting the majority of games?
    B) Rotation risk and will share game time with Marcal

      A. Bit less threat to his place with Jonny on the right. Long-term will prob see some rotation but looks good for this week imo

Using first free hit this week, which SGW players should I prioritize.
Or should I sack off the idea and wildcard

Thoughts on this WC? Maximizes DGWers and 30 starters:

    27: 8 DGWers
    28: 7 DGWers
29: 9 starters (so can save FH for later)

    Ramsdale, Foster
    Trent, James, White, Kilman, Ait-Nouri
    Salah, Son, Raphina, Martinelli, Ramsey
    Kane, Jimenez, Broja

Bank 0.0m, BB & FH left
