FPL Gameweek 6 team news: Rodrigo ruled out for 3-4 weeks

There were just two Gameweek 6 press conferences held on Thursday daytime but one of them brought us news on the fitness of the highest-scoring Fantasy Premier League (FPL) midfielder of 2022/23: Rodrigo Moreno (£6.5m).

The managers of Leeds United and Nottingham Forest are the only Premier League bosses to face the media so far, with 16 more top-flight head coaches set to speak on Friday.

Erik ten Hag and Brendan Rodgers will fulfil their Gameweek 6 duties after tonight’s clash between Leicester City and Manchester United, with some quotes likely to be embargoed for a day or two.

LEEDS UNITED

Rodrigo will be out until after the international break with the shoulder injury he sustained in Tuesday’s draw with Everton at Elland Road.

“When it pops out, it’s about as good a case scenario as possible. That means that it doesn’t need surgery and hopefully, in 3-4 weeks, it can calm down. Maybe it takes a little bit longer, maybe it’s a little bit shorter, we will see. He feels good, he feels confident that he will be ready fairly soon, so we’re kind of targeting after the international break.” – Jesse Marsch

Stuart Dallas (leg) remains out, while Luke Ayling (knee), Junior Firpo (knee) and Liam Cooper (calf) are in training and Patrick Bamford could be in line for a start in Rodrigo’s stead.

“First, I think yes that he can [start]. We’ll have to make a decision. We could start with both Joffy [Gelhardt] and Patrick, it’s something we’re speaking about as well.” – Jesse Marsch on Patrick Bamford

“Everyone else is in training except for Stuart Dallas. Junior Firpo, Luke Ayling, Liam Cooper, Patrick Bamford, all back. Some decisions on exactly which guys are ready to go for the weekend but they’re all in training looking healthy.

“I’d say Liam Cooper is probably the closest to being ready to start, and the others [Ayling/Firpo] I think we’ll more be considering, ‘would we have them on the bench or not?'” – Jesse Marsch

NOTTINGHAM FOREST

The Forest team news was an altogether quieter affair, with boss Steve Cooper reporting no fresh concerns from the 6-0 defeat at Manchester City last night.

“No, nothing in terms of injury. Players are reporting a little bit later so I haven’t seen them but I know there are no obvious injuries from last night. A tough week physically, was always going to be the case in terms of three games in a week and only two days between each game. But that’s fine, we’ll always deal with it as it comes.” – Steve Cooper

Orel Mangala (hamstring), Omar Richards (leg) and Moussa Niakhate (muscle) remain out.

Haaland Foden

Here is the thing about Chelsea's defence, I think Tuchel is a great manager, I think in the long term Chelsea's defence will become good again but for the short term it is not wise to trust their defence to get clean sheets.

I know its a benching headache, but nowhere around it now with this lot so...correct formation?

    Ramsdale
    TAA, Robbo, Walker
    Salah, Zaha, Martinelli, Gross
    Haaland(c), Jesus, Mitro

    Ward, Neco, Trippier, Andreas

I made a mistake by selling James before this gameweek. I got 4 extra points, but lost a FT. Now, looking ahead, what would be the best course of action? Priority is to bring back James and Trent. Shall I take hits or build it slowly over 3-4 weeks? Team for this week looks like:

    Sanchez | Ward
Cancelo, Trippier, Saliba | Neco, Struijk
KDB, Sterling, Martinelli, Gross | Andreas
    Haaland, Jesus, Toney

    1.9m, 1FT

A good fpl tip is to not sell trent unless he is injured lol

7.5m for a player whose team cannot keep clean sheets? I don't think selling Trent was a mistake. I did that long ago, and I have enjoyed the ride.

Selling James, on the other hand, was a mistake. No cleansheets again, but he is only 6.1m and its ok to lose clean sheets now and then.

That week was freak. Thank God, Salah didn't go mad that week. My team scored 81 that week, which was not bad all things considered. But, yeah, my replacement Sterling + Saliba scored 22 points instead of Trent + 8.0m.

I think there is some 'non-owner' Bias here 😉 . If that 8m player was Diaz, they'd have scored 31 points that week - for example.

Yes, I agree completely. Trent + Diaz would have been the ideal play for that week. But I never considered Diaz -- that is biased. But then Saliba scored 14 points the week before. And Sterling scored for consecutive weeks now. So, its all a bit roundabouts.

Looks to me like you ‘spent’ your TAA & James money elsewhere.
Can you afford Struijk to James with FT this week?
Then worry about getting Trent on WC… and pray in the meantime

    Isak or Mitro on WC?

my thinking is I get Alvarez on the occasions that Haaland doesn't feature.

Sometimes he'll be benched at 6.2m, so that's not to bad.

        On occasions I'll get both.

Plus Greenwood is really sat 3rd on the bench most weeks.

      😯

Because Peireira, Castagne, Justin, Thomas, Bertrand aren't enough players that can play LB.

Pereira and Justin are mainly right-backs, I thought Thomas and Castagne were wingers, and Bertrand has been rubbish for like 2 years. Wouldn't go near Marcelo personally - finished on big wages, will be like Evra at West Ham.

Nobody is talking about a farewell from FPL legend and must own in 2016-2019 era. 15 goals, 15 assists, 42 clean sheets. We'll always remember that 21-point haul. Adios Alonso!

He was a horrible player with a horrible past. Cheated and fouled Arsenal many times.

Glad to see the back of him

Wish Arsenal fans kept this same energy for P*rtey. Agree with your sentiments though, couldn't stand him.

If you're talking about the accusations, that's all it is at the moment.

Look closer at the story and you'll find he's most likely innocent.

Yeah, I obviously meant from FPL point of view and those memories. I wasn't talking about his personal life and mistakes he's made. I don't like it either and he should be in jail. But to be fair, there's a lot of what we don't know about players. We only get to know a part of them. Who knows who's really good or really bad.

For the next 3 would you rather go with Gross/Trossard or go a bit risky with Lingard? He's got great fixtures next 3 and can see Forest scoring more now the difficult fixtures are out of the way.

Don’t particularly fancy any of those 3. But, gun to my head I’d have to go Gross
Zaha is the man I’m targeting (I know he’s more expensive though)

Not in FPL terms at all.
He’s a decent enough DM/Playmaker in real life though

Solid DM to cover Elneny & Partey injuries. Good from set pieces as we found out last night & Arteta worked with him at City.

All good if it gets over the line

As. a Villa fan I’m not too sorry if he goes. Think Sanson or Nakamba are both equally as good if not better….so not sure why we bringing in Dendonker

Yes, he's definitely good enough for what we need at the moment. Who else of this quality with PL experience can we even get for £20m?

So what's not to love to have Alvarez starting if Haaland is benched?

They can tag team each other.

With viable subs like Andreas, Saliba or Neco to fill in if either Manchester City striker is rested for the whole match.

It seems so beautiful I might even hit a minus 8 to do it for Saturday!

If Perisic doesn't play and Haaland is rested then I've got Neco and Andreas subbing on as is and Greenwood last on the bench.

Think it could pay for itself with a couple of Alvarez goals?

    I'd captain him.

Dunno about it to be honest.
It seems awfully short termist - and even that could backfire with Alvarez having just completed the full 90 mins last game.
He could be the guy rotated next game with Grealish/Mahrez starting instead

It is kind of short-term I suppose but I do think he starts 2 of the 3 games before the IB, so if you're WCing then its no issue.

He could be a great differential C too. The big drawback is just the hit. I'm on a -8 this GW (dealing with absentee defenders & ploughing ahead Salah - KDB too) & have a got a big red arrow despite Haaland (C). Fine margins at the moment.

          true...

Will probably wait till Gw7 but then i miss the Villa punt.

You're right tho, he may not even play or score!

I wildcarded and got both Alvarez and Haaland this GW. Captained Jesus though.

Happy to have both going forward, they'll both be in the goals

Finding myself tempted by Alvarez too.
If I do Gundo to Zaha I have enough for Gelhardt to Alvarez.
Alternative is Alisson + Gundo to Pope + Diaz.

Juicy space in behind CBs that he can do for pace / someone who's in their 2nd / 3rd game for the club (and is probably not match fit right now). Can see plenty of goals in that fixture, particularly after how Chelsea crumbled against Leeds' pressing game.

Mitro should do well also but I think most of his big hauls will come at home

Who are Rodrigo owners looking at as a replacement? Have £7.1m available but don’t need to spend it all. Bernardo? Zaha? Aaronson? (who I sold to get Rodrigo). Open to other suggestions but can’t be Arsenal or Lpool as I already have 3 from each
