Can FPL players still get a ban for yellow card accumulation?

In this regular article, we look at the latest Fantasy Premier League (FPL) disciplinary situation.

And we bring you good news, for once: every Premier League club has now contested at least 19 fixtures in 2022/23, so any player sitting on four yellow cards is no longer at risk of a one-match ban.

The target to avoid next is 10 bookings.

If a player hits double figures for cautions before their club has played 32 league matches, they’ll be slapped with a two-match ban.

A reminder that punishments for yellow card accumulation are competition-specific, whereas suspensions for dismissals cover all competitive matches.

WHEN ARE THE CUT-OFF POINTS FOR SUSPENSIONS?

The table above is taken from the Football Association website and details the cut-off points for the various yellow card thresholds.

THE RACE TO (AVOID) 10 BOOKINGS

No-one is at imminent risk of a two-match suspension but there are a handful of assets who are already well on their way to 10 bookings, the most notable of whom from an FPL perspective is Ivan Toney (£7.7m).

        Do you still have yours? Maybe there is greater potential down the line and an opportunity for Haaland to score 4 or more goals. I guess the risk comes later on with busy fixtures, European football and Pep giving Haaland 2 x 60 minutes. Still more than enough to go crazy just less assured minutes.

        I'd say he's likely to get a rest against Reading in the FA Cup, can't see us doing anything to trouble ManUtd in that game

      I think he's certainly looked in the form for it to be a good shout, 2 home games too. I'm considering it myself but still think I'm likely to hold for a later week

      As long as there's some rest seen between now and when the DGW arrives, I think I'll be going with it.

      My logic is that even if there is a slightly more appealing set of fixtures for someone else like Haaland later on (debatable), it will likely be when there is european fixture congestion to contend with.

      In my experience, TC is also the weakest chip, so not the most damaging if it flops.

      Bit of a tough one for me, Kane's fixture this week could still be a good one for him, then he plays two teams that he has great records against. Still I think this is a decent week to go for a doubler although Leeds' fixtures are tough enough that I'm reconsidering going for Rodrigo or Gnonto

    Have had a somewhat poor restart and kept faith in some assets, who have not returned for me.
    Falling a bit behind in my ML and have consequently been looking at a WC to shake things up and make up some ground.
    Current team
    Ramsdale - Ward
    Cancelo* - Trippier - Botman - Shaw - Patterson*
    Rashford - Martinelli* - Foden* - Rodrigo - Mitoma
    Toney - Haaland - Kane
    (* are very likely to get transferred out in the coming weeks)

    WC team:
    Ederson - Ward
    Gabriel - Shaw - Trippier - Botman - Bueno
    Rashford - Saka - Bruno - Rodrigo (if he doubles) - Mitoma
    Nketiah - Haaland - Kane

    Plan is to really attack the upcoming doubles as a way to catch extra points, as well as going with some differential players.
    Downside is, I've actually got a decent XI for GW22, just need 1 more United player (can't get Bruno without taking a hit).

    What do you think? Too soon for Wildcard?

      I'm in a very similar position and just drifting along.

      I'm wildcarding this week and have an almost identical WC team to yours - only differences are I'm going triple Newcastle defence and triple Arsenal attack as I feel something radical needs doing to climb ranks

      Definitely wouldn't wildcard that

      Nothing wrong with Ramsdale over Ederson.
      Patterson is not a problem which needs solved in the near future.
      Martinlli could come good.
      Foden is an easy transfer to Ode or Saka.
      Bruno is not essential.

      Do Cancelo to Martinez or Dalot this week (depending on Dalot fitness over the next 2 weeks)
      That will give you funds to do Foden to Saka next week or you can do Toney to Nketiah if you think Foden might start 1 of the games.

      You say you already have Rashford. Is it supposed to be Rodrigo?

      If it is, 2x Leeds players are not worth a -4 IMO. No problem with one for the double, but double attack seems like overkill.

        Find it strange folks have KDB higher than Mahrez. Mahrez currently first choice and high xMins, his ceiling is higher than KDB.

      We have seen limited mins from both players. I don't see why you would go there when there are other options available

    Any chance that Martial is fit for the DGW ? Still have him, he's blocking a utd slot in my team... Weghourst is not convincing, so if Martial is fit I could keep him with 2 home games

      If Weg starts both games he will get some returns at home against those teams imo, it's a question of whether he will start considering Sancho is close to start and Rashford could be preferred to play through the middle
